I was a huge anime fan as a kid but stopped for a while from 2013-2014. Climbed back on in 2015 and currently enjoying the new anime that have come out since then (:

1. Tohsaka Rin (Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works TV)

Calm and collected even in the most drastic times, Rin is a smart yet compassionate character who does not follow in the "conventional" footsteps of a Mage. With wits, a soft spot and a rather spunky demeanor, she makes a likeable character who really should've been the main character in Fate/Stay Night, in my opinion.
2. Makise Kurisu (Steins; Gate)
Yet another smart character who shows care and concern for her comrades. Even if she makes(made?) some mistakes in the future, she makes up for it by amending her ways in the end.
3. Maou-sama (Hataraku Maou-Sama)
You might see a trend with my favourite characters here as Maou Sadao is smart and yet he does everything he can for the sake of the people he cares about, regardless of his position as the Devil himself in his own world, Ente Isla. Such concern for the world that accepted him (Tokyo) and even his (former?) adversary such that he gives up his ability to return home to save them makes him an oddly likeable character.
Or was this his plan all along..?

A very smart anime like Stain's Gate is the Death Note. Still I havent seen the Stain's Gate Even though I know the plot, so I cant provide more info.

\r\n1) Fighting and super natural : Akame ga Kill!, Blue Exorcist, Darker Than Black - Kuro no Keiyakusha, Tokyo Ghoul and Fate/Zero
