Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound

Apr 20, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 74 / S1 END] First of all, ignore all the negative reviews here. Yes, there are some genuine criticisms such as the dumb (or hilarious) canine references and names like "Bostonterrier Le Baskerville", "Underdog city" etc. And before you ask, no, none of this has anything to do with Sherlock Holmes. Maybe the author is just a fan of Mr. Doyle? And yes, there are indeed a few flaws in the story. The pacing could've been better too. Putting all that aside, what makes this manhwa interesting is all the twists in the story - especially the one at the end of... See full review

The Max Level Hero Strikes Back

Apr 16, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 27] An extremely annoying manhwa. The start is super slow - takes about 12 chapters before we see any real action MC is OP, but just faffs around wasting time, instead of immediately taking revenge on the queen who killed his mother. Sure, he was recovering strength initially, but even after he gets strong, he does nothing. With his stealth skills, he could've easily assasinated the queen and the prince who tried to kill him. He constantly wears this smug look on his face, which gets really annoying to look at after a while Annoying constant flashbacks to his time in the dream... See full review

The Martial God Who Regressed Back to Level 2

Apr 16, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 51 - S1] Even though this is a very generic manhwa - with elements taken from several popular series (level regression, system, OP skills, dungeon breaks, VR, constellations etc), I genuinely enjoyed it. MC is technically a support class, with skills from other classes (mage, warrior). He's skilled with multiple weapons, including fighting with bare fists, and is also able to use spells. I love how he throws off everyone's expectations in each of his battles - they're all interesting, unpredictable and well-depicted. The artwork is decent, MC is badass, the... See full review

Level 1 Player

Apr 15, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 80 - S1] This is a fairly average manhwa, with elements that we've seen in other manhwa/manga - player stuck at level 1, dimensional trading (like in The Lord of Coins), terminally ill parents, the usual association vs guilds drama, jealous players trying to kill MC etc - all of which we've seen about a million times now. In fact there's almost nothing original about this manhwa. To make things worse, the artwork is far below average - a 3.5/10 IMO. It sort of gets better in the middle, but towards the later chapters in S1, it somehow gets even worse, almost as if the artist... See full review

The Lord of Coins

Apr 14, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 115 - S3]  This is a somewhat flawed but overall interesting manhwa with some unique elements, and a lot of potential. The concept of interdimensional trading is pretty unique and the overarching storylines/arcs are also engaging enough to look forward to. I like MC's stint at the academy, his behind-the-scenes business dealings, and the idea of manipulating and bringing over villains to his side, instead of just blindly killing them. What unfortunately lets this manhwa down is the OP-ness of the interdimensional trading, to the point where at many times it's a bit... See full review

The Ideal Sponger Life

Apr 11, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 65] What an amazing read. First of all, there are official translations of this manga - and they are 100% worth buying! Each chapter has old-school style 40+ pages, with over 160+ pages in each volume. So if you do the math, it's pretty good value for money, unlike some of the rip-offs we see these days with only 10-15 pages per chapter... With that out of the way, onto the review: This is my ideal isekai - it avoids all of the clichés and also addresses most of the pet peeves I have with isekai. To sum it up: No clichés like MC getting truck-kun'd... See full review

Dungeon Builder: The Demon King’s Labyrinth is a Modern City!

Apr 8, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 63] This is a slightly above-average fantasy manga with some decent kingdom-building aspects. Although the origins of the MC are initially shrouded in a bit of a mystery (which is revealed later on), there isn't much of a story (hence the average score of 5). The main focus is the conquering of rival dungeons of the other demon kings, as well as the MC's city-building antics (which is technically a dungeon). There is also a somewhat major-ish villain acting behind the scenes, but the setup isn't really that complicated, nor are they something like... See full review

Der Werwolf: The Annals of Veight - Origin

Apr 3, 2024

[Reviewed at chapter 55] First of all, let me preface this review by saying that this manga has an official translation - it's on Amazon/Kindle and other stores, so definitely do buy it if you like it - it's 100% worth it! Each chapter has 30-35 pages and there are 11 volumes in total (10 at the time of this review), so it'll last a good while, unlike many modern manga which do only 10-15 pages per chapter just to rip you off. Now unlike most other isekai manga out there, this is one of the few ones done really, really well. For starters, it avoids all the common isekai tropes - no "system", no... See full review

Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, but Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge on My Former Party Members and the World

Apr 2, 2024

[Reviewed at chapter 104] I agree with the sentiment of most of the reviews here, so I won't repeat what they said - fight scenes with meaningless lengthy dialogue, meaningless and boring backstories for the villains, below-average artwork etc. Also, there's a 7-chapter filler arc about how the MC becomes strong - which can be completely skipped (ch 73-79). What I would like to add though is how the story actually starts to become interesting after around ch 90, when MC and his gang start investigating an ancient ruin. Finally, the manga starts to come across as an actual adventure manga. This... See full review

Saikyou Shoku "Ryuukishi" kara Shokyuu Shoku "Hakobiya" ni Natta no ni, Naze ka Yuusha-tachi kara Tayoraretemasu

Mar 31, 2024

[Dropped at chapter 33] This one is a bit unfortunate because the premise is actually good - OP MC loses most of his skills and his job gets changed to a courier. Now, despite being demoted to a courier, his stats are still S+ ranked, which allows him to complete deliveries ridiculously fast (by jumping over rooftops etc) and his super strength and past experience allows him to casually deal with any monsters or obstacles that's in his way. Not only that, his bag has an incredible holding capacity, and even allows him to transport humans! Now all of this sounds like a medieval-fantasy version of The... See full review

The Youngest Son of Habukpanga

Mar 27, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 42] The story is the usual reincarnation + revenge + murim trope, so there's nothing new or exciting here. I mean, I'm fine with that personally, I love this genre.  Now there is one new thing - MC gets reincarnated in the body of someone else from the same family, and MC's original body dies in this timeline. But that really changes nothing, the rest of the story proceeds as if it were a typical reincarnation/murim story, so that beginning literally doesn't matter. Still, the story proceeds well, MC is super weak initially but then becomes stronger as he starts to... Murim RPG Simulation

Mar 22, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 38] So this is a weird one. The story starts off alright, and is actally quite interesting - a bit different to your usual reincarnation/regression/system stories, where instead of reviving just once, MC has the option to keep reviving (depending on the number of lives he's got left). MC can even create save points and resume his life from those points, and the system presents him with various choices found in typical adventure/RPG games. The main story is that MC is caught in a power struggle in the clan, and being one of the cannon-fodder caught in the struggle, he has to find... See full review

The Frozen Player Returns

Mar 21, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 109] This is a chill, bingeworthy, steoreotypical action manhwa. You won't see much originality here, but at the same time it won't elevate your anxiety levels, thanks to our OP MC.

The one original thing is the premise - unlike other zero-to-hero or reincarnation stories, this one begins with the hero, who was frozen after defeating the frost queen, reviving after 25 years. Also, he's lost most of his original skills and is reset back to level 1, so he has to start all over again. But thanks to his experience he quickly rises up the ranks once more and embarks... The Eternal King

Mar 18, 2024

[Reveiwed at Chapter 380] Firstly, there *are* better translations of this manhua - if you know where to look. In saying that, the sub-par translation is something you'll just have to get used to when reading manhua (even official translations tend to suck). I've read manhua with far worse translations. But at least one good thing when it comes to this manhua is that the translators keep the character names consistent - and even better, the characters don't have  stereotypical western names like "Tommy", unlike some other bottom-of-the-barel manhua. Unfortunately, I wish I... See full review

The Eldest Brother of Baekdu

Mar 14, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 30] The problem with this manhua is that it tries to intertwine humour and slice-of-life events with serious, emotional moments - and it just doesn't work. I also find the attitude of the MC annoying - people close to him have died, and now he's responsible for his whole "family" - yet he doesn't take things seriously. Regardless of whether MC is weak or strong, his attitude sucks. I thought after all these life-changing events, he'd finally become serious, strong, and take responsibility, but I guess that's not happening - at least, not anytime soon from the looks of... The Ember Knight

Mar 14, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 11]

[Minor spoilers ahead] The story doesn't make any sense at all. First of all, how could his brother become so strong in just two days - even if he was a genius? There was no need to state that at all. Second, why didn't the MC lead his teacher to the enemies, when they were just standing still in the forest? It clearly didn't take too long for him to run to his teacher, but instead of saying anything, he just ignores the situation completely.  And I bet that those bad guys were upto no good, and by ignoring them, MC is endangering the lives of... Noblesse

Mar 12, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 45] Honestly, this was one of the most dumbest and annoying manhwas I've ever read. I don't understand why it has such a high rating. The MC is dumb. He's expressionless, barely speaks, is slow to react. It's really, really hard to like him. The MC and his partner let the villains walk away scott-free - after their friends/students were harmed. They basically let those murderers get away without giving any explanation, and they don't even keep an eye on them! And as expected the villains go on to cause more trouble and murders, all whilst our so-called heros are doing... See full review

Isekai Craft Gurashi: Jiyuukimama na Seisanshoku no Honobono Slow Life

Mar 9, 2024

[Reviewed at chapter 23] I love, love this manga. It's a perfect mix of adventure, fantasy, slice-of-life, OP skills, and comedy. This is how a manga with an OP character should be done. First let's talk about the MC - he's kind, pleasant, witty and hard-working. Even though he has ridiculously OP skills, there are times where he has to put in a lot of thought, creativity and hard work. I love seeing new applications of his skills and him creating new things. Anyone who loves crafting, making stuff and fixing things, will relate to the MC. Second, I love the dynamic between the MC and FL - they're like a... See full review

Koudo ni Hattatsushita Igaku wa Mahou to Kubetsu ga Tsukanai

Mar 9, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 24] This has an interesting premise, but has several plot holes that makes me unable to proceed any further. MC blindly administers modern human medicine to different species of animals/reptiles/beastmen/humanoids - which is not only risky, but incredibly irresponsible. Even if we assume that the same medication works, there's no way the dosage will be the same, and it would be nearly impossible to get that right at first go. The other major issue is MC relies heavily on modern drugs and instruments. What's he going to do when he runs out? I guess it's simple enough to recreate... See full review

Mar 9, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 83] This is an extremely boring manga. Basically, the following happens on a continuous loop: Enemies/Allies underestimate MC MC defeats them / proves them wrong MC gains new skills and becomes even more OP It's fine if this happens once or twice, but then this formula is repeated over and over and over and it gets pretty annoying. To make things worse, the MC is as boring as cardboard - he's nearly emotionless and very rarely shows his expressions. There's almost no challenge for the MC - sure he may occasionally face a stronger enemy, but then he somehow becomes stronger, or... See full review

Isekai Cheat Magician

Mar 7, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 41] As the other reviewer said, this manga comes across as a very average isekai story. One annoying thing is that the MC refuses to kill his enemies, which comes back to bite him. Even though he's OP, he lets his enemies get away. The other annoying thing is the expressions - both the ML/FL (especially noticeable with the FL) always have this dumb shocked/scared expression on their faces - eg when they were greeting the princess of the country - that's NOT the kind of expression one should be making. It's annoying seeing the same fsce constantly, and annoying seeing the MC face the... See full review

It Starts with a Mountain

Feb 29, 2024

[Dropped] This is just a low-quality, low-effort, trash manhua. Not sure why people are rating it so highly. The problem is the whole "system" aspect - very few manhua actually do a good job of implementing it, and sadly this isn't one of them. The problem is the system makes this whole story/world very fake/unreal. You don't get invested in it because it all just seems so ethereal, you don't get any emotional attachment and you couldn't care less what happens next. To make things worse, there's comedy as well, which makes things feel even more trivial. Coupled with amateur writing and bad... See full review

Reincarnated as the Piggy Duke: This Time I'm Gonna Tell Her How I Feel!

Feb 28, 2024

[Completed] This one was a bit of a mixed-bag. A disappointment even, because it actually had decent potential and did some things a bit differently to other manga in this genre, unfortunately, it drops the ball in a few places which made it an annoying read (for me), that I begrudgingly completed. First, the good bits: ML doesn't lose weight immediately, unlike other manga/manhua of it's type, and he sticks mostly true to his character's archetype Even his willingness to change is shown gradually and realistically - for instance, he's tempted to cheat on his diet on several... Feb 17, 2024

[Reviewed at Chapter 36] If you're after a chill and not over-the-top kingdom building manga, this one's for you. The premise is similar to most other kingdom building / MC gets banished for being weak type manga, but a couple of things that sets this one apart is that the MC isn't OP - although his powers slowly grow over time, they're still very tame in comparison to what we've seen in other managa; also the MC himself is quite weak and cannot fight at all - but that's fine too, since there's no fighting involved (at least, not yet). The other thing that sets this apart is that the region the MC is... See full review

I was hoping it would get better, but it didn't, and other reviews suggest it doesn't get any better even after a 100 chapters, so I've decided to drop it. MC is cocky and a big jerk - often gets innocent people caught up in his schemes. The story is super rushed and full of loopholes The writing is very amateurish The side characters are all incredibly stupid and unrealistic Don't waste any of your time on this garbage.

Feb 5, 2024

[Dropped at Chapter 100] This is a very amateurish, very poorly done, low-effort manhua. The dialogue/translation is poor, the fight scenes are rubbish, the plot is inconsistent and the MC is weak AF - even though he was a former "immortal" cultivator, he often chickens out of fights, lets villains escape, lets his friends get into trouble/taken hostage,a and gets schooled by his own disciples on various spiritual/martial arts matters. So much for the so-called expert. Also, the fight scenes are utter rubbish - they're abrupt and drawn badly. Don't bother reading this manhua - even if you're... See full review

[Reviewed at Chapter 387] This is an average to slight-above-average cultivation manhua. In the general context of webcomics it could be considered "trash", however for an average cultivation-genre manuha, it's not half-bad.  The Good:

- MC is an adult and there are no annoying kids, unlike certain other popular cultivation manhua
- MC is OP, ruthless, and doesn't think twice before killing someone
- MC levels up relatively quickly
- No harem
- No romance, although MC does have some feelings for a girl - who rarely features in the story, so it's never... See full review

The Dropout 1☆ Magician Unconsciously Uses Cheats Today As Well (Fujiko MOMOSHIKA)

Nov 9, 2023

[Reviewed at Chapter 30] This one was a very annoying read. The overall premise of the manga isn't anything special - it's the cliché weak MC gets ridiculed by everyone but is actually strong trope. I'm actually a sucker for these sort of stories, so this trope isn't really an issue for me. My main issue here is the MC himself - his inferiority complex and constant self-deprecation gets real old real fast. He's constantly spewing dialogues like "But why would you party with me, I'm only a 1☆!" "Are you okay with a 1☆ like me?" "A 1☆... See full review

Homeland Dropout: The Time I Was Reincarnated as the Fourth Enchanter in the Entire World

Nov 9, 2023

[Reviewed at Chapter 39] This is an isekai with a twist - was MC really banished simply because he was weak and bad at his family's speciality, which is spearmanship? Or is there a bigger secret behind MC's banishment (hint - there is). This is one of the key things that drives the story forward. The first few chapters cover MC's exile, his getting stronger, learning new skills, going on adventures, etc. There's also a revenge aspect, although he doesn't dwell on it. Finally, there's the war arc - a prolonged military campaign in which MC plays some key roles. Overall, there are a... See full review
