Watching this after the David Pro show is really something. This OVA assumes you're a reader of the manga, and does nothing to explain the plot. Although this is the first video adaptation of JJBA, I wouldn't recommend it to those unfamiliar to Stardust Crusaders for this reason.

The voice acting is quite good, but there are a few effects that are quite unrealistic and downright hilarious. There are also awkward long pauses without sound sometimes. One thing JoJo's is known for is its eccentric characters, and the OVA sadly flattens them down to nothing, with no development and little personality. It does okay with the little time it has, but it doesn't feel like enough. The character designs are quite charming and I'm a fan of the art style, but there's nothing much to say about the characters and animation besides that.

It's not exactly stellar, but you can tell that it had care put into it, and was a fair first try at bringing Araki's bizarre manga to the screen. If you've watched the 2014 anime and/or read the manga, this is definitely worth it, simply for the comedic and cultural value it carries. It has its fun moments, and a few cute scenes that I wish were put into the later anime. The art style is nice.

Perphaps this iteration of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is not the most refined or lucid, but it certaily is entertaining.

TL;DR: recommend this if you're a fan of JoJo's in any of its other forms, though not for newcomers.
