Puparia

Feb 27, 2021

It took me several run-throughs to figure out what the hell I was looking at at any given moment. There was so much to look at that if I didn't focus, I'd end up missing the context of a scene. But that doens't mean I didn't like it. The art style and insane attention to detail reminds me of Daisuke Igarashi and "Children of the Sea". The vast amounts of color and depth and perception shots that somehow never felt alien. This short was beautiful. And I'd watch it forever if I could.

I have no idea how I found this, but it was weirdly peaceful to watch.

Redline

Feb 6, 2021

Watch this right now. Stop what you're doing and go watch it. This is Cowboy Bebop meets Fast and Furious meets Stars Wars meets animated masterpiece. The use of color in this movie is astounding. There is a lot of black used for shadows and depth which allows for the brighter pinks and yellows to pop out more and shine. The line work is phenomenal, it's no wonder it took seven years to create. I won't post any spoilers as far as the storyline goes because I think all I'm ever going to be able to talk about is the art (Sonoshee McLaren).  Don't get me wrong, the story is amazing, good job with the... The Princess and the Pilot

Jan 31, 2021

SPOILERS SORRY DUDES This movie is not at all what I was expecting. Would I recommend this? I don't know. It's truly up to you. I thought this was going to be a basic princess and the pauper style mission where she gives up all the money and the gold and frolicks off with the poor man to go live in a shack for the rest of their happily little lives but no. They don't end up together in the end, which is kind of nice I will admit. In stories like these, the rich person usually abandons their past relationshihps and/or duties based on a whimsical bond they forged with a total stranger over the course of a... See full review

Death Parade

Dec 3, 2020

NO SPOILERS I started watching this show because I thought it was going to be revolutionary in its approach to human nature and our concpet of judgement after death. In a way, it was and it wasn't. Death parade had such a strong premise for the show's storyline but they messed up the execution and consequent follow through.  The show tries to create a sense of relativity between the viewers and the characters in the show. Whether it be through showing these arbiter's "humanity" through there mistakes or by creating a character solely for the purpose of asking questions for us to be... See full review

Nana

Nov 28, 2020

I can't remember the last time I ever binge watched an anime with this much obsession. Overall, this story is a mess. It's messy, it's complicated and it's so heavy with the reality of just how ugly this type of life can be when you're struggling to grow into your own person amidst others who are also struggling to do the same. Characters: I'm only going to focus on the two Nana's. Nana O: I thought she was going to be the stereotypical bitch next door but I'm so glad I was wrong. She is such a well rounded character, rooted in her longing to be free in life. She has pride in herself and... See full review

Haikyuu!! To the Top: Part II

Nov 25, 2020

(NO SPOILERS) A lot of the issues viewers are having with this season lies in the animation. But people are forgetting something very important: art changes. Art styles are rarely ever stagnant, it's not something that is seen as good in this industry. Having a steady style is important, yes, but also improving that style to the best of the the artist's capabilities is mroe important. Around this time in the manga, Mr. Furudate's art style started improving a lot more, as he intriduced more characters he started adapting his style to accentuate that better. Which is why the anime's animation style changed... See full review

Jujutsu Kaisen

Nov 14, 2020

SPOILERS SORRY DUDES I know it's shitty to compare them, but this is what Team 7 could have been if they had actually been given proper personalities that were 3D and not based entirely on tropes. Although you could argue that T7 is the og trope...I digress. Everything about this show, from the worldbuilding to the slow but steady development of the hierarchy of power is amazing. Like FMA, this show takes the time to actually help the viewer along in a way that doesn't seem cheesy or preachy. It doesn't explain everything about the world right of the bat, yet it still answers the three... See full review

Snow White with the Red Hair

Oct 10, 2020

Love doesn't have to be loud. It doesn't have to be a messy struggle to understand each other. This show proves that love can be simple and sweet and still remain as vibrant as any other love.  The storyline isn't complex, it could honestly be a fantastical slice of life. It has a gentle overarching goal rather than a plot, and this lets the characters encounter new arcs every few episodes. I loved it

Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time – A Tale of the Eight Guardians

Oct 10, 2020

Had I not already seen Fushigi Yugi, or Saiyunkoko Monogatari, I would have probably given this a higher rating. Probably. Only because this storyline followed through on the mystical aspects where Saiyunkoku wanted to go but struggled to. The characters were stereotypical of the reverse-harem trope, they could have been developed more and the main female lead could have chosen to not string along her childhood friend :/
