Please don't worry about it! You didn't sound like you were trying to provoke an argument at all- my reason for not wanting to watch it is simply because of the ecchi, which isn't something I enjoy in the slightest.
In advance I have to thank you for taking the time to read it, not many people do it. Most just see the scores and press "heart" or "recommended". So I'm glad there are people who read it , even though i'm relatively mediocre at it.
But it's like you said, the best part of the series was the introduction and Rimuru-CITY's own world building. But the second half of season 1 was already shaky and the entire second season follows that exact path. I liked the series for that certain charm it had. Although it was simple, it was very enjoyable to watch.
From the second season on, it's all just this cliched powerhouse syndrome, so every character sees how pseudo badass Rimuru is, how cool his overpowered skills are, and how much the bad guys crap their pants in front of him. It's not that I outright hate it. But other series have done the same thing, but often better.
