Twittering Birds Never Fly ~The Clouds Gather~

Jan 9, 2021

Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai is a melancholic story that can appeal to both mature viewers and those who want a BL fix with a more violent and dark tone. Note: It is not a tragedy. It may be triggering to some viewers, however, as it does contain a central theme of victims of rape. I read the manga when I was much younger but it always stuck in my memory because of the unique characters. When I saw a movie was out, I wanted to revisit it.  The number of BL animations that exist is still at a microscopic number, and of those small numbers, the majority are complete... See full review

Mo Dao Zu Shi

Aug 15, 2018

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is done by the same folks that brought us The King's Avatar. This donghua is based off a popular chinese novel. The story is set in Ancient China, following the chinese fantasy of a 'cultivation' (wuxia/xianxia etc.) world, where people meditate, practice the martial arts, and control Qi in combat, battling supernatural entities and demonic disturbances, often as a member of a sect. The Royal Tutor

Sep 24, 2017

Cheesy, and cliche, nevertheless I found myself enjoying this short comedic series, The Royal Tutor. The real question is why? Honestly it shouldn't take long to review, as this show presents simple goals and fulfills them in a satisfactory manner. Story 7/10: The story is nothing new, a tutor (Heine) comes to teach 4 princes with a bad reputation for scaring off tutors, they don't like him at first, then they come to respect and like him. There's a few episodes for each prince to get their charater fleshed out, etc. etc. the last arc is the MC getting his past fleshed out, the end.  The point of... See full review

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable

Nov 9, 2016

Diamond is Unbreakable is part of a now long series, or perhaps the better word would be installments, of different people in the Jojo family line, and each of their epic adventures. Depending on what season you watch, while the (2012 version and on) art style, hype, and tone of the series might be similar, often the theme is varied. Why I'm writing a review for this newer Jojo installment is because I am actually enjoying this season quite a bit more than the previous two seasons and feel like analyzing why. This is to be noted, for anyone who hasn't seen any of the series and is curious, but no... See full review

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru

Oct 11, 2016

First Impressions of the show (after ep 2).  I could definately tell it was based off a game before I even read the synopsis. It's so much eye candy and cute/attractive boy characters. I mean, I like that but also get bored quick when it's cliche fluff.  The action is super cheesy, why do the 'bad' guys that are trying to mess up the future look like crazy youkai??? I like the 2 focused on MC ish characters that were Okita Souji's sword. But I also wonder how much plot and character development we're going to see around them... This is because this show has (as this kind of game would... See full review

Mob Psycho 100

Oct 10, 2016

This show was pretty entertaining, you have a teenager trying to find a place socially in life that also has OP psychic powers...but he doesn't deal with it like the regular shounen MC with their 'I've got to face my fears, lvl up my pwr, and fight my enemies to protect my friends' way. I'll also note that though this anime has a similar esscence to One Punch Man, I actually prefer this show. I feel like explaining this so I will, but you can also just skip to the directs categories for the main review of the show. There also may be... See full review

Kiznaiver

Jun 3, 2016

Kizaiver ended up being, for the most part, an acceptable but not great show about somewhat normal character types getting along, excluding the MC and Sonozaki (blue haired girl). This is also my kind of show, filled with character interactions and some extreme scenarios. I really enjoyed the start and some of the drama, until it later branched an focused on romance in a way that took away from the theme of connection amongst them all, and with a slightly anticlimatic ending. Story 7/10: Like I previously mentioned, there's a whole lot of mystery about this whole 'kiznaiver' thing, and while... See full review

Doukyuusei

Jun 1, 2016

It was very well put together, considering it was only 60 minutes in length (approximately 3 episodes) minus credits at the end. It was not the most amazing thing ever, but is definately quality for this genre. I would recommend to anyone who likes boys love (aka shounen ai, not yaoi) or romance. Hopefully knowing that the two become a couple is not a spolier because it happens within the first 1/4 of the movie. Story 7/10: I actually liked the way the story was seperated out. It was cut into seasons (spring, summer vaction etc.), where each chunk had its own issue for the couple, a climax in... See full review

Shounen Maid

May 31, 2016

This is a cute, fluffy show about a young boy who moves in with his mother's brother because his mother died due to an illness. The guy he moves in with happens to be a quirky and introverted, and since the boy himself is strange with a high sense of duty, he becomes the maid of the house he moved into. The plot is that simple. That being so there was a number of directions that this show could have gone in. Considering the Shoujo genre, it kept as light as possible. Which was one of it's main flaws. I may update this review if I feel it is necessary after the show finishes. If you don't want to read all... See full review

Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage

Mar 15, 2016

I'm actually enjoying edit: somewhat enjoyed this series, though normally I like series that are released for the season a lot more than if I watch a series seperately after they are completed. I attribute this reaction to the feeling of 'it's new material, fresh animation!!' etc. Personally, I rate this series a 3.5/5 stars. But I give it a 6 in this review, for several reasons. However, I would reccommend this series to those who like fantasy worlds with some explaination. Not on the level of 12 Kingdoms, but there is some fleshing... See full review

Beautiful Bones: Sakurako’s Investigation

Dec 24, 2015

Well, that was moderately entertaining. It didn't end in the middle of an arc, but it had no 'good' ending or the climax that one would expect. Simply put, this was a regular mystery show where the MC cracks cases and there's a normal assistant MC on the side. There was the positive points of Sakurako, who I liked as a character, and the theme of bones, but many parts of this anime was mediorce thus leading to it's normal score of 6. Story 5.5/10:  It wasn't bad, as you would expect the plot was mainly episodic, with the occasional hint at a larger plot in the background. In each small arc, Sakurako... See full review

God Eater

Jul 27, 2015

My overall given score is based off 7 episodes (it WAS 3, but I've seen 7 now), so I'll either revise or delete this review when the anime finishes airing...which will be a while b/c they are not releasing the last episodes until later... I will also compare this to Attack on Titan and Owari no Seraph, since they are similar shows.  It seems like a typical post-apocalyptic setting, and it's based off a game. So plot wise I'm not expecting anything great, a lot... The Heroic Legend of Arslan

Jul 5, 2015

This was entertaining to watch. I have not watched the earlier OVA of this and don't plan to. I reccomend to those who enjoy a classic medeival story. At first, I thought it the mood in this anime would be darker than normal conisdering the first view episodes, but the tone shifted the more positive and optimistic for the rest of the series. Story 6.5/10 This was a classic but well-done story of the prince that reclaims the kingdom and dreams of changing the system...with some little additions to the plot that make it refreshing. One of them being how the viewpoint for both sides is more 'gray' than... See full review

Seraph of the End

May 21, 2015

Well since this has only gotten good reviews I guess I'll add a less good one. Oh no, don't get the wrong idea, I'm not just doing this because no one else has yet, I really think it's average. Since I only watched the first 5 episodes and skimmed 6 and 7 (edit: now I've looked through all of the first season to make sure there wasn't a plot twist, a formality only), I'll just give an overall rating.  I started watching it wondering if it was any good because I felt like some action, and am always looking for another good Anime :D, but was dissapointed. I didn't see the opening song the first episode... See full review

No. 6

Apr 15, 2015

This is a series I just re-watched. I still enjoyed it, it's fairly good. However, there are some overall issues with No. 6 that make it average, with my seven rating slightly due to the fact I love characters with white hair and red eyes. First off, if you absolutely hate any sort of Shounen ai vibe, don't watch this. Second, it's only eleven episodes, so you can already assume that the plot won't be perfect. Story 6.5/10: With a bit of sci-fi, slight vibes of Shounen ai romance, and the whole topic of 'utopian society never being a utopia', No. 6 creates its story. Shion, the main character, meets... Garo The Animation

Apr 2, 2015

Garo. To describe it simply, it's your classic story where the main character inherits his parent's power, and after obtaining it begins saving things.  Story 4/10: Frankly, I did not like the pacing of this show. In the first place, the plot isn't an original concept. I could see everything coming. Now, it's not that unorginal can't be entertaining or great, but it's expected that the show at least stick to the main story or an interesting plot to keep interest. Garo, however, though ok in the beginning, along with one or two episodes of furthuring the main story near the middle, slowly meanders... See full review

World Conquest Zvezda Plot

Jan 2, 2015

This is one of those anime where you should realize what the rest of the series is going to be like after watching the first episode, trust me, plot takes more action during the second half, but it's fundamentally the same. All in all I found it entertaining, but lacking enough that it's just average.  First, to consider the good aspects of this show...I would have to say animation and the slight differences there is than the normal mediocre shows of this genre. Yes, the animation and character design themselves was cute. The cute little girl with white hair and red eyes, and the 'main character'... See full review
