Devils' Line

Oct 3, 2019

Are you familiar with 50 Shades of Grey? If so, and you're a fan, this anime may have some appeal to you. I felt compelled to write this review seeing how most people here are giving such high ratings to this mediocre show.
(Characters)
You have your Ana Steel aka Tsukasa Taira - the clueless college student that managed to stay a virgin, and her best friendzoned male friend who has the hots for her. For Mr. Grey we have Anzai. While Grey was handsome and rich, Anzai looks worn-out and miserable and is a vampire (or a "devil") himself. He does work for the police though so maybe that... See full review

Dr. Stone

Sep 7, 2019

This anime is completely unwachable. The first episode shocked me actually, so I gave another a try and had to drop it like 10min in. After reading the synopsis I was expecting something much more intelligent. And no, throwing some "science facts" doesn't make it intelligent.  It's neither educational nor entertaining in any way.  Nothing makes sense, the characters are boring and nothing intriguing happens. Maybe this was meant to be a more edgy science kid show for younger audiences obviously. I'll pass.

Sarazanmai

Not sure what level of psychosis you need to reach before you can fully understand this anime. I guess you'll be satisfied enough if you're into little boys, ass juice overflow and pointless riddles. If we were to cut out all the singing and gay sailor moon scenes, all we would be left with is a mediocre story, which btw was unnecessarily complicated. I just don't get it.

B: The Beginning

Apr 18, 2019

This anime is bullshit. I could end it here. I finished the whole thing because even though I did not like it too much, it was an easy watch. I feel like the whole anime took ideas from 100 different animes and fused them together creating this mess. Killer B is a manmade boy with superpowers who is killing to get attention of his childhood girlfriend who joined a group of other manmade people with superpowers. From the first few episodes you'd think this anime is about this mysterious killer B, but it's not. It's actually about a human psycho serial killer. So my question is why even introduce the weird B... See full review

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms

Mar 9, 2019

Another one of those movies that should've been a series instead. I felt like there was too much going on. It flies thru events too quickly and just only brushes over the aspects that I wanted to see explored more. There wasn't enough time for me to feel sad for anybody, and what I think made most people cry was probably the right sound track. Anyways, it is an OK movie, but personally I think it could have been better if it concentrated on maybe 1 or 2 things only instead of 100. For a movie less is more.

Charlotte

Mar 9, 2019

The MC, Yu, has a special ability - he can posses people for a very short period of time. He soon gets found out by another wielder and is forced to transfer to new school for people with special abilities. There he joins the student council which sole purpose is to hunt down other people with special abilities and make them join the school. And so for the first 6 episodes you may think this is pretty much all there is to this anime + some other nonesense that doesn't add to the story at all. After 6 episodes somebody realized this was getting really boring and perhaps it's time to throw in some drama... See full review

Once Upon A Time

Nov 3, 2018

What a tragic movie... Wow. I have no idea if Windaria was based on a manga or novel, but the movie sure felt like a short summary of something way bigger and longer. To me the movie seemed half-assed. I don't know if it was just too much of a story for one movie or if the problem was with how the story was presented. I think I would probably enjoy it more if it was made into 20+ episodes series, because there seems to be a lot going on that could have been explained better. Art was nice, I like the old style anime, and music was good - for once I didn't have to turn the volume down due to corny... See full review

Angels of Death

Oct 29, 2018

Angels of Death is about two messed up characters trying to escape a building where other freaks try to constantly kill them. I understand there's a large community out there that may even get a boner watching this stuff, but as for me that's not my kind of entertainment. Probably the reason I finished watching this anime was that the episodes felt very short even though they're the regular length, and a lot of them had cliffhanger endings. Everything had been unnecessarily stretched. The characters were rather annoying and would only say some nonsensical lines. The character that was the most... See full review

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash

Oct 29, 2018

The whole idea of people being "transported" into a different world where they are forced to fight goblins or other weird creatures was absolutely pointless. Nobody elaborates on that whatsoever at any point in the anime. The worst thing is that this anime has no end. None of your questions will be answered. I got tired pretty fast of watching them do the same thing every episode. It was a real drag trying to finish just those 12 episodes. The positive is that the art was very nice to look at.

Urahara

Nov 1, 2017

Whoever's responsible for coming up with the idea for this anime should get fired. It's really amazing to think there are people working on this anime... what a waste of everybody's time! Don't waste yours watching this. Art looks like kids' drawings (I actually don't mind the looks) and the "story" seems to be written by a child as well. Wouldn't recommend if you're older than 10. The very first episode will probably leave you with a blank stare and a loss for words. I don't believe there's people who find this funny or entertaining in any way.

In This Corner of the World

Oct 13, 2017

In This Corner of the World is a slow, weirdly paced, boring slice of life that takes place in 1930/40's Japan. It failes to present the difficulties (or any other aspect) of those times in a way that befits a 2 hour long movie. I don't really know why this movie was made, cause documentaries can be much more interesting and engaging than this. I was expecting at least more drama out of it or anything that would be more touching. Instead I was bored and annoyed. Some other things that made this movie unwatchable for me were: jumping from place to place making it hard to follow, bad dialogues, awkward... See full review

Pikotarou no Lullaby Lu-llaby

Oct 12, 2017

Each episode is just one scene (with little movement) filled with some random dialogues between characters from classic tales and Pikotaro. The quirky humor isn't necessarily funny so out of 9 episodes only 1 made me laugh. I like weird but this was a bit too weak. Nevertheless I can't say I hated or didn't enjoy these short series. To end on a positive note; I liked the art and the ending tune.

Made in Abyss

Sep 29, 2017

Made in Abyss is so far the best anime series of 2017. It's an intriguing adventure about orphans making their way to the bottom of some mysterious pit. The original concept, art and characters make this anime feel pretty fresh comparing to most anime coming out these days. The art is beautiful, there's not a moment where a character is missing a face feature or something else is missing in the background. The characters are mostly likable and aren't stereotypical which is a very good thing cause I grew sick already of the tsundere, shy and clumsy and good for nothings types. The plot is interesting and... See full review

Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World

Sep 28, 2017

Sword Art Online + xxxHolic + Higurashi - this is pretty much what Re:ZERO is, bits and parts taken from everywhere. The main character, an otaku, gets summoned to a mysterious world that in some ways resembles a video game. It has an autosave, so every time he dies, he restarts at the exact same spot. So the story really just revolves around him figuring out what needs to be done to avoid his death to get to... See full review

Love and Lies

Sep 19, 2017

Love and Lies despite its not well thought-out premise started out OK. It was an easy watch, but half way thru everything started to go downhill. MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS ↓ The main character is an avarage indecisive teenager with dull personality. He's neither good looking, cute, funny nor cool in any way, yet everybody seems to be in love with him - his crush, his assigned wife and a male friend as well. The two girls instead of becoming rivals become best friends and seem to support each other. They never get angry at the lame male lead for being an ass too even though they secrety want him all to... See full review

Hitorijime My Hero

Sep 19, 2017

Garbage, but I guess standards for shounen-ai/yaoi are very low in general. Hitorijime My Hero started very promising but it seems it lost its direction very quickly and became an ugly mess with no solid story. The story that there is, is pathetically cliched and rather laughable. This is obviously pure fan service so story-wise this is no better than your regular porn where story is just something minor in the background cause it doesn't really matter...  But it should here, cause there's not even that much to get excited about. It worked somehow for Junjou and its dupe Sekai-ichi, but Hitorijime... See full review
