Well one of it's primary uses is to track anime you have seen. You might have noticed that other users have a watched, watching, want to watch, stalled, dropped and won't watch list on their profile if you click 'Anime'. If you search for an anime you will notice in the middle of the page there is a drop down menu, here you can place the anime on one of these lists.
Another main use of the site is the user made recommendations. Again, if you search for an anime you can go on its page and click the recommendations tab and see what other users think you might like if you liked the anime which's page you are on.
