Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
Feb 23, 2021I'll admit that I came into watching this anime a bit skeptical, after being spoiled by Ascendence of a Bookworm. The animation, worldbuiling, and lore in this show is great and instantly pulls you in. What ruins it is the characters.
If you enjoy hentai or those wish fulfillment isekais, then you can try this. But I could not look past the overdone raunchiness of the show considering this is about an adult man in a childs body. After watching episodes 6-7 I could no longer stomach the implied pedophile.
None of the characters are likeable or redeemable. The plot is either extremely slow paced or absent. I think at this point its about the growth of the main character, but considering how much I dislike him, I don't want to see more.

I like this anime and if you tell me this anime has a pedophile for a protagonist, it makes me look bad.
So, I will defend this anime, as a proxy for defending my taste. Which will only make me look like a pedo myself because I keep trying to defend this anime and shitty fucking rapey Rudy.
You're right the season focuses alot on the mc rather than the side characters though many of them do have some progression many of them don't really get much screentime.
the one who got the most of it changed in the begining then there were some miniscule changes throughout.

But I do disagree with the notion that none of the other characters are likable or redeemable.
I think the anime is good , why cos most of them don't even show that development , I consider reviews like yours made for no reason , nobody cares that you think a "pedophile" is gross , if that are your personal thoughts you can not reflect them on the anime itself and saying it is bad quality , and for the people saying it is "hentai" , the fact that his parents do it "every night" is something normal for a young couple . A reason I do not rate an anime before it is finished is because i want the full experience , I think people should change , people watching it for free and complaining , they have never tried to see how hard/easy is to make an anime , they are just watching them without to pay a cent and just criticise. First of all you do not know how your life would have been if that "pedophile's life" was similar to yours , you can not know what kind of person you'd be . Because of people like you I would check a review made by someone who knows how to make them , that is why ratings do not really matter if they are made en masse , your review is literary invalid because you put personal feelings in it , I'd rather advice you to make a change in your personality , if you want to enjoy an anime you have to accept the people in it , does not matter if they are bad , pedophiles or anything else , oh and I would honestly watch this "gross" anime , having a mc whatsoever more or less pedophile , I do not care that he is a pedophile , the important thing is if he can change or not , and although he has some perverted ideas in his head , he still behaves way better than in his previous life , a thing that you can not see , next time you actually make a review that everything a count , i do not spend my time analysing animes just to give a review . I honestly wish that if reincarnations are real , I do not say they are , I just say it hypothetically , I wish you would get a life of misery like his , the only thing i liked about his past life is that he didn't chicken out and chose the easy way aka suiciding , there was nobody for him there and people like you would never help a person in need, it may be an anime but your character reflects it.Don't think that I am mad but but that is my opinion.

Characters and worldbuilding are the two things Mushoku is so great in and shows like Ascendance of a Bookworm, etc. can't even compare. Characters are written amazingly but in only 8 episodes you couldn't even notice that. That's why leaving a review on a complete story when you experienced nothing of it is stupid and pointless.
I also don't like all the Ecchi thoughts Rudeus has but you're not supposed to like the main protagonist at the beginning when he's partly still a scum like he was before.
If you don't like other characters, well there's nothing you can do because they are written very realistically considering their circumstances and in real life, you also can't like every person.
