The Villainess Turns the Hourglass
Jul 13, 2020There were a lot of things I loved about this manga and while I do have some criticisms for it I just want it to be said that I think everyone into this genre should at least give it a try.
Pros: Interesting characters. I felt a lot of things reading this, bordem was never one of them though because of Aria, and the character development was such a pleasure to read. Like YES when i saw Aria's character actually grow from her experiences i was thrilled. The pacing is also very nice, never felt like anything dragged too long. The art is ofc fantastic, and the author didn't treat the readers like complete idiots.
Cons: looking back... the love story in this isn't honestly that great. It's just another "im not like other girls" thing at heart and god knows there's enough of those already. And while the writing was entertaining to an extent, at one point the plot just started to feel petty or childish and devolved into something like highschool drama. At which point I checked out.

agree with this 100%. I like most of the story but the romance is just written so badly. there isnt much depth to their relationship and barely any chemistry other then the fact they met when they were younger. i love the two sisters character writing (even if arias faltered a bit in face of romance) and i love arias growth but nobody else had good character writing and growth. i think to make a good story more than the two main characters need it (especially the ML, i hate his writing)

I don't know if this could lessen the icky feels for you but at some point her character starts to develop, like she's not meant to be just a villain, it was just related to how she views herself. (especially towards her teacher).
