Tomodachi Game

Sep 24, 2022

After the plot twist that dropped in episode 5, it finally piqued my interest.

From episode 1 to 4, the plot was predictable and cliche for the evarage viewers, so they needed something big to catch our attention. So they did, dropped a bomb in episode 5 to show us this Tomodachi Game isn't all about money and debt. They were aiming for something bigger.

They being Tenji, and possibly Yuichi. The truth is I don't think Yuichi actually said the main reason for his goal; to destroy the Tomodachi Game company. There's more to his reasons and possibly being related to his past.

Although for now, we know Yuichi & Tenji's 'aiming for something bigger'. I assume the rest of the characters will also join in on their battle with their own respective motive. There's just so much to wonder for this anime.

Wondering about each of the characters' past, figuring out what's going on in Yuichi's thick head of his. 12 episodes, yet the only sauce we're getting is Yuchi's, Tenji & Yutori being his henchmens. (It ended with a clifhanger).

To be honest, I understand that the Author probably wants us to see that Yuichi although fighting with his inner demons, he still would choose friendship over money. I do see Yuichi's struggle in his head, between friendship and money. But I'm not convinced.. it would take more than a few charming acts to convince me otherwise.

The thing is I do believe there's light in his heart. But the way I see it is that the light in his heart is faint because the darkness in his body is overshadowing him.

So to me what's most intriguing about the show, isn't the storyline itself. But Yuichi Katakiri himself. I want to figure him out, I want to understand him, I want to know what drives him to do what he does. Whether it be his past or current life. He is more than a mere subject, he is also human. And even tho I see that about himself, does he?

Yuichi is smart. A genius, strong, witted, and cunning. He is a lot of things. The Author wanted us to look at Yuchi the way They see him. So that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

I guess you could say it's a bit of a bore if the rest of the cast were to be given a mild and tedious personality. But I've come to terms with it, because doesn't the world revolve around the main character? And if the rest are only meant to be stools for him to stand on then so be it. Besides, they aren't just mere tools, they all have a purpose don't they?

To live and fight even if they are to be used as stools. As long as the objective is reached, that's all that matters. And I believe Yuichi did a well job on manipulating them to give their utmost trust in him. Especially on the last episode. It's was very obvious if his true intentions on that episode.

Eh... wouldn't my prediction mean this anime is too easy then? Well. It doesn't matter. Everyone has their own perspective view on this anime. And to me it's an okay in my book.

It was fun to watch and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I'll just make sure to tell them that Yuichi's psychopathic behavior is overbearing at times.

Who knows, maybe there'll be a worthy opponent for him. I'm sure reading the manga next would be a thrill. Especially since the anime... it's not the anime episodes that are short. But the main plot. Can't wait to read what happens next!
