This is the definitive Unlimited Blade Works, forget about the other adaptions by studios that are not Ufotable. That means Deen and the Fate initial adaptations.

I enjoyed this introduction, even after re reading the visual novel. So it was a great complement and nothing was so wrong with the plot that it broke the immersion even though I was compariing it to the VN quite often (not something people should do, as it breaks immersion).

Ufotable is so skilled in their adaptation, however, that this felt like the same story, told better or in a different perspective. Same story, different pov, more goodies for the reader and fan.

It sets things quite right for the future plot arcs. For people that don't know about the Fate series, this is mostly a battle royale between varoius two person teams. Thus it tackles the subject of what a True Hero is and how magick can function in a modern world. The Secret of the Holy Grail is slowly uncovered over 3 different story arcs. Each story arc begins from the same day, this one is merely the UBW variation.

Action, heroic drama, some romance, and a lot of shounen esque power situations.
