Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It

Mar 28, 2020

This show is the definition of adorkable. It follows two science nerds on their quest to find out what it truly means to be in love. Simply saying “I’m in love with you” isn’t going to cut it. No true scientist would accept such a statement without any proof. So using science and logic, the two of them try and prove the concept of love by measuring BPM, blood pressure, oxytocin levels… You name it. The comedy in this show is great. I found myself laughing out loud several times as I watched this during the slow hours at work. There’s not much conflict in the plot and... See full review

ReLIFE

Nov 21, 2017

On the surface, ReLIFE seems to be your typical school life with a twist (in this case, the ReLIFE pil). And it’s all those things, but it’s also a very compelling drama about growing up and overcoming past mistakes. There’s nothing particularly mind blowing about this anime, but it’s still a great show. Why? Because everything just works. The producers, directors and, of course, the original manga creator took this very simple concept and polished it until it became something entirely new. No, the idea is not unique, but what they did with the idea is what makes this show... See full review

Whisper of the Heart

Aug 18, 2017

I feel like I have to like this since it's Ghibli, and I do, but that's about it - I like it, not love it. Now, don't bash me right away. I think it was a cute story about personal growth and following your dreams/heart. I just don't think it was anything else than that. The love story could have been fleshed out more (felt very, very rushed) and I felt like the side characters were pushed too far into the background. Their own personal stories were just... forgotten. There were so many story elements that could have been built upon, and I'm gonna put a spoiler warning for the following paragraph explaining... Kyoto Animation CM: Suiei-hen

Jun 16, 2017

This is basically a trailer/promotion for the series Free! Iwatobi Swim club. It's only 30 sec long and features some fanservice shots of the boys, as well as shows the main theme of the series; swimming. If you're thinking about watching the series then you can watch this to see whether you like the animation and artstyle. Doesn't show anything from the story though.

Ajin: Demi-Human

Jan 19, 2017

Story: When I first read the synopsis for Ajin it caught my interest right away. I've always liked series where you question humanity and who's the bad guy in a world of monsters (like Tokyo Ghoul and Parasyte), and I was expecting a series like that when I picked up Ajin. However, Ajin never really dives deep into these questions. Instead it just delves on the surface for a few episodes before saying “screw this”. The series was extremely slow-paced with just two noteworthy events throughout the whole series. I don’t like series that rush things, but I don’t want to watch 3... See full review

Ai no Kusabi

Jan 10, 2017

After reading so many good reviews about this anime, I had my hopes up pretty high when I started watching Ai no Kusabi, so maybe it's my own fault I didn't like it that much. The story is interesting and I like the world they live in, but there's just something about Iason and Riki that I can't like - their master-slave relationship. Don't get me wrong, I can still enjoy a love story even though it's abusive and/or somewhat wrong, but this one is too much. Iason has kept Riki as a slave for three years, breaking him down into obedience. Then he decides to set Riki free for a year, but goes back on his... See full review

Fate/Zero: Onegai! Einzbern Soudanshitsu

Apr 28, 2016

These special episodes weren't the best I've ever seen, but I do still recommend them. Why? Because they explain the story. Fate/Zero has a pretty complex story line that can be hard to follow, but by watching these specials you might understand it better. For example, they explain how the grail war started, what it is and what's up with the servant's noble fantasms (amongst other things). Like I said, not the best thing I've seen and some may think it's a waste of time, but I still enjoyed it because I found it interested to learn about the war and the different servants pasts.

Paranoia Agent

Feb 1, 2016

Oh my… I don’t even know where to start. This anime is just all over the place. It’s confusing and boring at the same time. Something is always happening, but it’s still super slow paced. I really wanted to drop this anime after two episodes, but for reasons unknown to me I decided to watch it all… and that was a mistake. It was bad, very bad and I don’t recommend it at all. Story: Story was confusing and hard to follow. They constantly introduce new characters that have absolutely nothing to give and I couldn’t really find a genuine story. A guy whacking people... Inu x Boku Secret Service

Jan 19, 2016

Inu X Boku SS is bad. I’m not saying everything about it is bad, but there were a solid 70 % that could have been cut out. This anime feels too long, which for a 12 episode anime is not a good sign. It feels like this anime has an identity crisis where it doesn’t know whether to be in the romance, drama, comedy or fantasy genre. It’s like a bad blended smoothie that had potential to be super delicious. The romance feels forced and the man is creepy as hell. How are you supposed to root for a relationship when one of them is a maniac and a stalker? He is not “protective” or... See full review

Death Billiards

Oct 12, 2015

I never thought I would write a review on a 25 min movie... but oh well. Death Billiards exceeded all my expectations. It had me on the edge of my seat (bed) from beginning to end. As we speak I am watching Death Parade which was spawned from this masterpiece. It's fast paced, well written and leaves you with a wow-feeling. I don't know how I can tell you how well done this is without spoiling anything, so I'm just going to tell you one thing: watch it. (the reason I didn't give it 10/10 is because it had kind of an abrupt ending and I wanted more of a closure)

Steins;Gate

Oct 10, 2015

I have always avoided storys about time-travel because generally they don't bring anything new and I find them unoriginal. However, I did decide to give Steins;Gate a chance becuase I had heard so much good about it - and I was pleasantly surprised. Steins;Gate is a well written, unique, funny, emotional and thrilling story. The characters are great and the character development is superb. I have to admit I got a little lost in the first episode so that I had to re-watch it to follow what was going on, so my tip to you is don't watch this when you're tired and not really paying attention because you will... Corpse Party: Tortured Souls

Aug 25, 2015

(Only minor spoilers in this review) Corpse party is... okay. It's not the best horror anime I've seen, but it's definetly not the worst either. Be warned, there are a lot of gore and violence, as well as some ecchi. It's interesting enough to watch (since it's only about 2 hours in total), but it could have been better. Have in mind that I have not played the game. Story: It's your typical horror story; some school kids perform a ritual and end up in a school that's haunted by the spirits of dead children and their victims. To escape, they have to solve the mystery of what really happened to the... See full review

Future Diary

Aug 24, 2015

I was EXTREMEY disappointed with this anime which (in my opinion) had a lot of potential, but fell flat. Not very likeably characters, bad plot and some ridiculous logic... no I'm sorry, but this is not a good anime. The only thing that made it watchable was the comedy and suspention. Even though I hated the story and many of the characters, I couldn't stop watching. It was never dull and had me saying "WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? HOLY SHIT!" many, many times.
