About me:

Hello. My name is Mari and I'm a 27 year old girl/woman/lady (whatever you prefer) from Sweden. I've been watching anime since I was about 17 years old, unless you count shows like pokemon and digimon that I watches as a child without knowing it was anime. Feel free to look around my profile and if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them :)

Quick questions:

Anime or manga?

Depends. Both have their own positives and negatives. Generally, I'd prefer to watch the anime version of an action or adventure series, while I tend to lean towards manga when it comes to dark stuff such as horror and psychological. For romance, drama and comedy I don't really care. If there's both a manga and anime version I often watch the anime first, unless the manga has a much better score. I also lean towards anime when it comes to long-running series with multiple seasons or a lot of characters. This is because I sometimes have a hard time getting into a manga and in those cases, anime is just more convenient. But there's no competition when it comes to sheer number of manga. There are so many manga out there in all kinds of genres. If I'm looking for something different, then I always start in the manga section.

Favourite genres?

I love everything that deals with the dark side of human nature, so horror, psychological and thrillers are up my alley. On the flip-side, I also love a well-developed romance and drama. Character development are my favourite part of any series, and these genres often focus a lot on it - which is why I like them so much.

Least favourite genres?

I tend to stay away from isekai, MMORPG's, sports and ecchi. However, there's no genre I won't watch. If something peaks my interest, or I get a trusted recommendation, I won't diss the show just because it's one of these genres.

What got you into anime/manga?

Honestly, it was a Death Note necklace my sister owned. She'd gotten it from a friend and didn't know what it meant and neither did I, but I was always curious. Then when I was on youtube one day I stumbled upon an episode from Death Note. Decided to watch it and poof. I was hooked.

Do you own any anime merchandise?

No. I've never been interested in buying things like figurines, posters, pillows, etc. I might get something small like a coffee cup one day, but that's about it.

Do you play anime games?

I have played a few, but it's been a while. I had a period where I was borderline obsessed with visual novels. If you know any good ones then feel free to recommend them to me :)

Do you listen to anime music?

If they're good then yes. I have a few anime openings on my phone that I listen to when I'm out and about. I also like to listen to instrumental anime OST's when I'm studying or just relaxing at home.

Do you cosplay?

No. I'm way too awkward for that.

Have you been to Japan?

No, but I'd like to go. If you want to give away a free ticket then hit me up :D

One episode at a time, or binge watch everything at once?

Binge watch 60 episodes in 2 days like a true champ!

Webtoons or traditional manga?

Webtoons, definitely. Traditional manga is great and all, but I prefer the more simplistic look of webtoons. It also gives an extra sense of suspense when you only get to see one panel at a time, instead of a full page at a time (I already said I love suspenseful and dark stories and those work amazingly well in webtoon format).

  What is my role on Anime-Planet?

 Since 2017 I've been a part of the moderator team, specifically the character and tag teams. Every character entry has been added and updated by a mod like me and I also help with discussing new tag ideas and adding existing tags to anime and manga. So if you've ever wondered why I read some really weird stuff at times - now you know! Being a mod is honestly really fun and we have a bunch of great people on the team.
