Delicious in Dungeon

Jun 14, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This was really fun; it kept me smiling and laughing from start to finish. It also had some tense and serious moments as well. I really wasn't expecting a food-focused show to actually have a serious storyline plot, let alone one that was this good with a solid end goal to their adventure in mind like this. I can't wait to see the ending to their adventure in season 2!! 9/10

The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases

Jun 11, 2024

***No Spoilers*** Let's see the problems with this show: no likable characters, bland relationships, no laughs, bad animation, lame fights, and a monotonous story and world with no unique aspects or traits to even latch onto. The show really doesn't have any redeeming qualities. There are a ton of other issues that come to mind, like the many inconsistencies in different scenes. It's like they would forget the state or position of characters in them. For example, wounded people would become healed with no apparent cause, or people would show up out of nowhere where it physically and logically didn't make... See full review

IRODUKU: The World in Colors

Jun 11, 2024

***No Spoilers*** If it weren't for the poor closure given in the finale episode, the show could have been much better. It's too bad because it was great up until that point—a very good, bittersweet coming-of-age story about finding oneself through bonds. You could say it kind of fumbles an easy goal at the very end, which might leave a really bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. It might not be for everyone just because of that, but I still enjoyed the ride even if I hated the end.

Strawberry Marshmallow

Jun 6, 2024

It's not a very chill anime or a good Iyashikei if your looking at it from that perspective alone. Its charm lies more in its light-hearted humor and its many gags, and in that respect, it's actually really good, but it does get carried hard by Miu. She really does make the show; without her crazy antics, it would be super boring, as she is the heart of any situation during the show. 8/10 - My favorite gag is “Go stand in the hall, Sasazuka.”

Tamako Love Story

Jun 1, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I really wish we got more follow-up stories like this from series that have ended where the romance wasn’t the main focus, yet it was still interesting. Actually getting to see the romances resolved like this is so gratifying. They seriously need more of it, even if it's just a side story or a stand-alone sequel. I can think of at least a dozen shows that deserve a similar treatment to get some resolution.

Classroom of the Elite 3rd Season

May 28, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This is still an amazing and solid series, even in its third season. If you liked the previous season, you will love this one. It offers all the same great things we have come to love from its previous seasons while adding more characters to the cast and still exploring and building more on the previous characters. It also has some interesting exams and engaging arcs that push the story and characters forward a lot. It's still not quite as good as Season 2, but it's still great. I can’t wait for Season 4! 9/10

Pon no Michi

May 18, 2024

***No Spoilers*** For a show where the main theme is mahjong, they don’t actually play a lot of it or even explain how it is played in detail. It ends up being more like your typical CGDCT show with a cursory attachment to mahjong. So you get more of the average events like holidays, camping, festivals, cooking, etc. than you ever get of mahjong being played. I do wish they would have focused a bit more on it, as it felt sort of like a wasted theme, but it's still a decent show despite it. It has some cute, funny, and chill scenes, at least compared to an average-rated show in the same genre. 6/10 ... See full review

Ninja Kamui

May 16, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I think this is what Disney was sort of looking for when it said it wanted Japanese anime to adapt to western audiences. It's a really standard story about a man out for revenge, just killing everyone to get at those who have wronged him. It's a very generic revenge story you could get in any of your typical western action-type stories, but while still having some Japanese and anime influences like ninjas and robots, etc. It's alright, but as I said, it's a very generic story with a lot of plot holes, not much detail, and a cast of mostly boring characters. The action is great at the... See full review

O Maidens in Your Savage Season

May 16, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I really loved this anime, but that ending was not it. It simply doesn’t offer the closure needed for most of the characters storylines and leaves you with a very unfulfilling ending to a show that was so good until that point.

Tsukigakirei

May 11, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This story is what you get at the core of most of your typical normal romance stories, but with no twists or frills and being very plain and normal. However, not in a negative sense, as it's all extremely well done and has a very believable cast of characters that accurately capture those years of life. It's just like they took this core baseline and cranked up the quality on everything without adding anything extra. 8/10 - Really good vanilla ice cream with nothing else is the best way I can describe this.

Mr. Villain's Day Off

May 11, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This features far too many moments of the MC alone with just Panda’s on the brain. While it worked well for a few episodes, it eventually got old. They should have included more character interactions and cultivated relationships more than they did. The later episodes did a good job of this, but it was way too late for me. It's a decent show, but it's mediocre at best when compared to other Iyashikei. 6/10

Gushing over Magical Girls

May 7, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I've been trying to stay away from heavy Ecchi series ever since I watched "Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World", since I'm really wary of hentai trying to pass itself off as anime yet again. But I have to admit, this was really light. There are only two instances in later episodes where you might start to question if this is hentai or ecchi, and even then, it's still pretty light. The majority of it is just your typical Ecchi nonsense, but be aware that it has a strong... See full review

The Witch and the Beast

May 7, 2024

***No Spoilers*** The series has gotten off to a really decent, albeit slow, start. However, as it goes forward, I have a feeling that the world-building and characters are going to get crazy good as it picks up the pace. They have already built the world up a lot and introduced a bunch of interesting characters so far, although it hasn’t given enough time to explore either to their fullest. Yet you can still see the potential in them, especially at the end of the season, where you can see the possibilities for future character growth and world-building grow exponentially. This season was all just a... See full review

Brave Bang Bravern!

May 4, 2024

***No Spoiler*** This was excellent—well, for the first eighteen minutes, at least. Then that dumb main robot arrived, and everything fell apart due to how obnoxious and exaggerated he is. It would have been much better if they had disregarded him, removed the other special mechs, and changed the plot to fit. A straight-up normal alien invasion with mecha would have been much better. However, I know it was intended to be primarily a parody; it just started off so serious that it raised my expectations. But it dissolves quickly into just a plain old balls-to-the-walls parody. So if you're looking for... See full review

***No Spoilers***
This is a really good show, so I'm kind of shocked it didn't garner more notice than it did. It's a solid story with a compelling world and some well-written action sequences. Furthermore, the primary antagonists are nuanced, and despite their obvious villainy, they are able to elicit some sympathy and empathy from you. Then the MCs also contrast well together, with one being amoral and the other more innocent, and since they both aim to achieve the same goal, you wind up with two distinct viewpoints and strategies, making for a more interesting story. It's a really solid show in... See full review

Sengoku Youko

Apr 27, 2024

***No Spoilers*** In actuality, this show is underrated for what it is. Even though it starts slowly and takes some time to get going, it still contains some interesting characters that go through a lot of change and have some good character growth, although it's not always positive change or growth. The story is no different. It starts out a little sluggish and disjointed, but as the show progresses, it picks up steam, and by the end of Season 1, it gets pretty good. All in all, it's a passable watch that will keep you entertained, but it won't blow your mind. Although, based on how the plot was... See full review

'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess

Apr 27, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This show doesn’t have a real story to it, and it’s really repetitive. It also falls short within its genre, such as not being that cute, not making the food appear particularly appetizing, and having few laughs. I suppose it does have a few moments over its duration, but they are simply too few, leaving many uninteresting moments that don’t hold your attention. The characters aren’t that interesting to watch either, all too bland with no substance for the most part. It’s a far far lesser version of other shows in the same genre, such as ... See full review

Tales of Wedding Rings

Apr 24, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I don't think this is really worth watching. Not a single character possesses sufficient depth or a compelling backstory. They are all quite dull and uninteresting, especially the MC. In addition, the story and its setting are so simple and uninteresting that it seems like they could have been created in a single weekend. Its production values are also not the greatest. Its animation style is quite dark and gloomy, which is completely out of place for an Ecchi Harem show, and the music is unnoticeable at best. Then, even for being an Ecchi Harem show, it lags far behind any others in... See full review

Undead Unluck

Apr 23, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This is the battle shounen for you if you're seeking one with heavier romance that is done in a very “battle shounen” manner, where it is tied into the combat and core story rather than just being an ordinary underlying side story romance. It's quite entertaining to watch because it accomplishes this so well in a very unique and fascinating way. It was definitely the main draw of the show for me. Apart from that, it's a fairly typical battle shounen with a wide array of interesting characters who experience some good character growth as they mature and discover who they are... Solo Leveling

Apr 20, 2024

***No Spoilers*** Some people have said it the best already; it lacks substance and is at its best within the fight scenes and action. It's pretty much the same thing I came up with when I finished reading the manwha, but to an even bigger degree when watching the anime. I'm not sure if it's because it's my second time with the story or if it's just more pronounced with the anime. I guess its best arcs are coming up in the next season, so it should hit its peak then, and we will see how it goes. I just hope that they fix the ending, as I was not a fan of the last 1/3rd of the manwha. 8/10 - Still fun, but... See full review

Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!

Apr 20, 2024

***No Spoilers*** This gave me the gyaru fix I needed. Even more so because it has the type of gyaru that I love the most—super nice, bubbly, energetic, and a bit flirty—but still gets embarrassed easily. Fuyuki was perfect, and she was the MC, so it makes it even better. Even past the gyaru angle It’s a nice little romance story with some laughs. It also has the bonus of being in Hokkaido, which you don’t get to see much of in other anime. It's definitely worth a watch if you like gyaru, maybe a little less if you don’t. 7/10

Ishura

Apr 18, 2024

***No Spoilers*** The first half is very fractured and hard to follow as it has super fast pacing that introduces way too much, too fast, without much context or building added. It focuses on one or two people per episode, not just one MC, and then shows you some of their “feats” or “exploits”. Basically how strong they are, and then moves on to the next without giving you much depth or explanation about them. As it goes on It does start to piece all these characters together into a bigger connected story of sorts, but it's very sloppy. By the time it gets to the 2nd half where... See full review

***No Spoilers*** ….. Although nothing to really spoil. This is pretty much what you would expect, besides one factor. That being that the 12 episodes are all actually connected and just make one long episode. Other than that it's a little bit of hot spring talk with a bunch of tits. It doesn’t go over the top with it though and it isn’t really sexualized besides maybe like 30 seconds. It's more just like here some tits and that's it as they talk for a min or two. Story, character, animation, and music are all bad. Low budget and no time investment so it's to be expected. Nothing else... See full review

Somehow it just ups the quality of everything to the point where after episode 9 I knew there was no way I was giving this anything less than a 10/10, maybe even before that to be honest as it's just gold from start to finish. It keeps getting better and better without backing down or leaving anything behind, it's absolutely breathtaking. Mashle: Magic and Muscles - The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc

Apr 7, 2024

***No Spoilers*** I still can’t bring myself to like this series like others can, even here in season 2. It's not bad, just not great either. It still has lots of dead pointless characters with very few decent ones, mash’s fighting is bland and predictable after you've seen it a few times, and the story is just plain boring. You do get one or two laughs, but for a parody and comedy it's not that great, or maybe it's just not my style of humor. 6/10 - I don't see this series getting better for me.

It leads to some unexpected situations as well as hilarious ones, she is a character that you will never get bored of watching. Her relationship with Jinshi is also really sweet, it progresses in a nice slow manner with them getting more and more comfortable around each other as the show goes on. ***No Spoilers*** This started out really fun and exciting with an interesting story and a great MC. I really did like her kuudere side being mixed with her leveling obsession that’s set to an abnormal degree. It's great how she doesn’t realize that she goes way over the top and is seen as weird by the others yet still she has no clue. That along with her abnormal thought process on what's normal leads to many funny and quirky moments. Unfortunately this is all the show offers in the end. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

***No Spoilers*** Beyond Journey's End is a really slow yet soothing show with very little action. So don’t come into this expecting it to be a hard adventuring fantasy battle show, even though there are one or two moments during the season. Think of it more like doing side quest adventures with lots of traveling that is more relaxing, at least most of the time. It’s also a really plain style of fantasy, that's low in anime tropes and non “offensive” overall. This makes it perfect for any normies or people that don’t watch a lot of anime as it’s less... The Strongest Tank’s Labyrinth Raids: A Tank with a Rare 9999 Resistance Skill Got Kicked from the Hero’s Party

Mar 24, 2024

***No Spoilers*** One big problem in this show is the battle system is barely bare bones. You know it works with mana, skills and shields, but they never really go into it to flush it out. So all the skills are left ambiguous and the fighting is repetitive as they just hack and slash or use bland generic moves at the whim of the moment. The animation doesn’t do it any justice in this regard either so it's not flashy or fun to look at. The characters are a bit better with them being alrightish, but don’t expect any deep characters or good character building. You're just going to get characters... See full review
