D.Gray-man Hallow

Sep 29, 2016

STOP! This is a review of a continuation of a series so I highly recommend watching the original before you read this review so you don't come across major spoilers! Boy, I didn't think I'd ever be writing a review for this show again. Honestly, I fell pretty hard for the original anime and I was pretty bummed when it was over. I followed the manga for quite some time too but lost interest when it wasn't updated regularly. That being said, I was pretty stoked when I saw the announcement for this new season of anime and I really anticipated it. After watching these first 13 episodes my feelings towards the... Let me start by saying the manga for this show is ten times better. Above and beyond better. Like, really...just don't watch the anime and read the manga. If you have read the manga you're not going to get anything new from the show. In fact, you might lose something. Anyways here we go!
Story 8/10
So, the story is the second best part of the whole thing. The first best thing being Suwa, of course. While it may not be completely original (what really is anymore right?) it's entertaining and suspenseful at times. Five high school friends receive letters from themselves ten years in the future about... See full review

Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV

Sep 20, 2016

Hey! So, this isn’t much of a review but more like a summary/here’s what to expect kind of thing. First of all, my hype for Final Fantasy XV is suuuuuper high…as it should be. Second, I’m not claiming to be an expert or anything but it looks like there is some confusion around this anime so I thought I’d lend a hand in trying to clear things up. Okay so here we go, as many of you know there is a new Final Fantasy video game coming out in November. If you didn’t know that, get on it yo! This anime is kind of like a fun backstory promo for the game and there is a movie... See full review

I hardly ever write a review for a show that I don't watch all the way through, but I simply can't stand to watch anymore of this one. I think it may be one of the worst shows I've ever seen... Story 2/10 Geez, and this is the highest ranked category. There's absolutely nothing original about this story. It's your typical post-apocolyptic adventure complete with bug-things for enemies, special people that can save the world and floating cities that are constantly under attack but never seem to really take any damage. The magic people go to school to be more magical and they can use weapons that are... See full review

Noragami

Jan 29, 2015

Absolutely loved this series! It’s got action, humor and a bit of romance all wrapped up into a nice and semi-original story of gods and their effect on the human world. Okay, so maybe original isn’t the best word, but it had a nice fresh feeling in an overall crappy year of anime. Story- 9/10 So shoot me if it’s been done before, but I like myself a good story of mythology and the supernatural mixing in with the life of an ordinary human. Our ordinary human in this series is Hiyori Iki, who finds herself a little more in touch with the spiritual world when she tries to save a god from... See full review

The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

Dec 11, 2013

So…this review is sort of…well difficult. I think I liked the show, but then again I’m not entirely sure that I have any idea of what actually happened. The world it’s set in is pretty interesting the characters are decent and I really enjoyed the different kinds of magic involved as well. It was simply missing…something. Or I dunno, maybe it just had too much… Story 4/10 Pretty low rating right? Here’s the deal, I can’t really rate this section very well cause there’s about fifty different stories all wrapped into one big story and none of... See full review

PSYCHO-PASS

Mar 29, 2013

Simply awesome series, from the very first episode I was hooked. It’s dark and twisted and a bit of a mind destroyer but I loved every minute of it. If you like futuristic, rage against the machine, psycho-thriller types then order this one my friends. Story- 9/10 While the whole story has a sort of been there done that feel, it definitely scores pretty high in my book. In the future, a person’s mental state, and therefore their probability to commit crimes, can be measured by a device called a Psycho Pass. These passes are registered and monitored by the Sibyl System, which is basically Big... See full review

Sword Art Online

Dec 28, 2012

Ah, what a great anime series. I don’t remember exactly what I was looking at when I found this one but everyone kept posting about how great it was and how it was definitely the best anime this winter so I said “Hey sure, I’ll check it out.” Found a handy synopsis website, looked interesting so I ventured my way to the nearest hosting site to find out that just one episode had been released. Now, I’m sort of a skeptic so I was thinking there’s absolutely no way this series could already be a favorite with just one episode out so I searched around a little more to find... See full review

Bleach Movie 4: Hell Verse

Dec 7, 2012

Okay, so as much as I LOVE Bleach…and I really mean love in all caps, the movies are a bit…um well they aren’t canon so I find them enjoyable yet unnecessary. In all honesty I probably like them more than that but I have to look cool writing this review…about anime… No but seriously, I haven’t written any reviews over Bleach yet for various reasons, but I felt I needed to write one for this movie. First of all I noticed that it wasn’t well received on this site which saddens me not because I thought it was super mega fantastic but because I feel like any... See full review

Zetman

Nov 7, 2012

I remember being shocked and awed by this particular anime…or maybe the feeling was more like awed and then caught off guard… It’s sort of hard to explain the feeling of “This is pretty cool” turned “You’ve got to be kidding me.” But here I go anyways! Story 5/10 The story is just okay. I guess I could say it’s somewhat original but I’d be lying a little. It follows Jin Kanzaki, a young man who is cursed/blessed with the power called ZET. He’s the sort of creepy looking spikey guy that was created by the Amagi Corporation to eliminate... See full review

Hyouka

Sep 21, 2012

Oh Hyouka how I loved thee. But why? Seriously, I have no idea why I loved this series so much but I did and it’s done and now I’m sad. Were the characters super loveable and memorable? Not really. Was the story extremely intriguing and mind blowing? Nope, nuh uh. Was the animation so beautiful that it made me depressed to live in a world that’s so dull and limiting that I thought about taking my life to end all the suffering? Negative. Honestly, every time I watched a new episode of this series I asked myself the same questions, well maybe not the super dramatic one at the end there. I... See full review

Soul Eater

May 14, 2012

I avoided this series, like an idiot, for quite some time mainly because I was worried about it being too cartoony or childish. Like an idiot right? Story 8/10 The story follows the students of Death Academy, in Death City, ruled by Lord Death. They like death okay? Each student of the academy is either a meister or a weapon. Meisters are humans that have special abilities making them able to wield weapons to their fullest potential. Each meister pairs with a weapon with the intent of collecting enough souls to turn the weapon into a Death Scythe. Maka and Soul are the “main characters” that... See full review

I watch anime for a number of reasons, but never before have I watched an anime for the sole purpose of writing a review for it. But this one, ooohhh this one…after watching the first episode I changed my watching status to dropped. I couldn’t do it. Everything about this anime is way cheesy and I thought I simply can’t waste my time on something like this. But, after watching a few episodes of some other (better) anime I made the decision to finish this series so I could write a review for it. No, I’m not writing this to completely bash the show and no, it didn’t get any... See full review

Jan 6, 2012

But…but why? Those were my thoughts at the end of this series. Overall it was really good. Interesting story, characters and animation. I’m upset because it didn’t end the way I wanted it to…this tends to happen way too often. Story- 7/10 Fashion isn’t really my thing, but I do enjoy a good story of a strong willed person leaving everything they know to follow their dreams. Yukari is a typical, hard-working student who finds herself caught up in the world of fashion and modeling. This short series is about her decision to quit school and become a model, with the help of... See full review

Towanoquon Movie 1: The Ephemeral Petals

Dec 31, 2011

I’m in love with this series. It may be my secret desire to have a secret power that no one else has that I can use to save the world…but I can’t help it, I love it. Yes it’s kind of silly at times and maybe even perhaps, lame…but in my opinion the rest of the show outweighs the lameness. Story 9/10 Like I previously mentioned, I’m a sucker for the super human powers coming together to save the world. Oddly enough, I’m not a huge fan of superheroes though…go figure huh? Anyways, this show has more of a, dare I say, X-men feel to it. Instead of mutants we... See full review

Infinite Stratos…it’s like FMP! meets better…kind of. If you’ve read my review on FMP! (Full Metal Panic!) than you know I don’t think very highly of it. If you haven’t read that review than you now know that I don’t think very highly of that anime…any who. IS is entertaining in its own goofy way and even kind of cool…again kind of. Story 8/10 So the story if kind of…hmmm overdone? But go figure, it is a mecha anime…sort of. True Tears

Nov 7, 2011

Slow. Meh. Sort of boring. Slow. Lacks content. Pretty shallow. Poor plot twists. Did I mention slow? Trust me, it’s not the worst anime I’ve ever watched but trust me again when I say it’s definitely not the best. It simply sparked no interest in me and I probably only finished it because it is so short. Story- 4/10 Boring, shallow and all of the above. In the beginning you get the feeling that there might be something to it. A young boy is secretly in love with a young girl who has gone through a lot and has issues with feelings and junk. Of course she secretly loves him too and of... See full review

Princess Mononoke

Oct 16, 2011

I had wanted to watch this movie for quite a while now; I’m a big fan of Studio Ghibli so I was trying to watch as many of their films as I could anyways. It lived up to my expectations and even went beyond them in some areas; however I can’t give this movie a higher rating because frankly the ending was awful. I’ll add my spoilers at the bottom so here’s your first warning. <----- Story- 8.5/10 Very interesting. I’m a sucker for the forest vs. mega pollution/deforestation so I knew I’d like the premise at least. But on top of that the struggle between the humans and... See full review

5 Centimeters per Second

Sep 17, 2011

So, this review is going to be a little different than my normal reviews... I can't rate the categories like I normally would because I don't really know what to think about the anime in general. I'm in between rage and despair and enjoyment...I guess. When the movie ended I sat there for a minute wondering why I wasn't just straight up pissed that I had wasted a good 45 min of my life...for some reason, I just couldn't hate it...or love it. Story The story is pretty depressing. Two childhood friends and potential lovers are separated and the story is three short segments, from different points of view... See full review

We Were There

Sep 13, 2011

I’ve really got to stop watching anime…I can’t handle things that have no closure… I breathed a deep sigh of relief about four episodes into this one thinking, finally, a romance anime that actually has romance throughout the whole series. I was sick of watching anime where the two lovers didn’t confess their love for each other until the last episode…where’s the romance in that? Anyways, by the end of this one I was starting to think maybe I was wrong, but I’m pretty sure it’s just my NEED for closure… Story- 7.5/10 Pretty basic. I added... See full review

Special A

Aug 30, 2011

This is the first comedy/romance only anime that I've watched...and I loved it! I was sick of looking for a super cool anime that would knock my socks off only to be disappointed so I thought, "What the heck, I'll go for something completely different!" And hooray! Success! Story- 8/10 Hokay, so, the story is kind of cheesy and way too intense for highschoolers but...whatev. I was thoroughly entertained by Hikari and Kei's constant rivalry and subtle romance. Plus, the other characters move the story along enough so that you don't get completely overwhelmed by mushy gushy love junk. I think even... See full review

Dragonaut: The Resonance

Aug 24, 2011

I still chuckle a little when thinking about this anime. It was so bad…so so bad but I still watched it to the very end. Why? Not even I can answer that. I honestly have no idea. But I did, so here’s my review. Story- 4/10 So the story’s not so bad. It’s pretty sappy and fails in the cool category. Also, things happen for no reason. Thanatos, a dragon/comet/dragonmother/planet or something, appears in Pluto’s orbit and I guess it’s a threat to the earth. Three “original” dragons fall to earth and accidently collide into a shuttle. The only survivor from the... See full review

Origin: Spirits of the Past

Aug 19, 2011

I've recently decided to expand my list of anime movies watched and unfortunately I've come to realize that anime movies may not be the best idea. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of anime movies that kick ass and for the most part if the movie is in conjunction with a series it tends to do better in my eyes, however this anime movie fell prey to what I like to call Cram and Suck Syndrome. Story- 5/10 The whole concept of this movie actually had great potential. It's a pretty standard post-apocalyptic nature vs. humans storyline which normally amuses me most ardently. The problem with this one is that... See full review

Howl's Moving Castle

Aug 10, 2011

Just a simple disclaimer before I begin: I understand there is a book tied to this movie. Unfortunately I haven't read it so this review is from that perspective but rest assured I'll be reading the book fairly quickly. It's not often that I give an anime 10/10 let alone in every category, but Howl's Moving Castle deserves nothing less. From start to finish I was awed and amazed by the beautiful scenery and captivating characters. Story- 10/10 I loved every single detail of this story. Full Metal Panic!

Jun 20, 2011

It’s a good thing this review is only over the first season of FMP!, otherwise its rating would be much lower and the review overall would be a lot more negative. But onward we go! Honestly I could not stop watching this series when I first started it. The first oh, six or seven episodes are extremely intriguing and really introduce the characters and story line well. The problem I think other viewers may run into is that it’s not a serious mecha anime. If the creators meant for it to be that way, they failed drastically and if you go into expecting epic battles and mind blowing logistics around... See full review

It’s so hard to say anything bad about this anime yet every time I think about I rage a little on the inside. Overall the series is amazing. It’s extremely captivating from the very beginning and you immediately want to jump to the last episode, but trust me it’s worth watching all 37 episodes.
Story 10/10

I believe a little above average is the best way to describe this anime. The whole concept is pretty neat, but I feel like the series is lacking in just about every department. Story 7/10 I'd give this category a higher rating if the end of the series didn't suck sooooo much. The whole story about the numbers and Train being an ex-assassin wanting to live his own life is just fine, but the ending. O-O It doesn't help that they introduced and destroyed a new evil in the last four episodes. Apr 27, 2011

I'm really torn when writing this review. I feel like this anime could be absolutely amazing, because it is, and yet it isn't. For starters it needs to have about 50 more episodes. I feel like the creators intended a very long series and had to wrap everything up very quickly. Story 6/10 The story is pretty interesting and has a lot of potential, however there were just too many plot lines brought up and left hanging. There are concepts that are simply short-lived and there are incidents that happen on the basis that it will be explained later...but they never get around to it. The whole idea of this...
