Characters, characters, characters. While the plot suffers quite a bit towards the end, I was impressed by this anime. The MC can be annoying at times, but all of his friends are well casted and develop well according to the plot. Dialogue is well written and often pretty emotional. Despite her misleading label as 'pet girl's in the title, Mashiro is a wonderfully complex character whose complicated relationship with the mc keeps you engaged throughout the story. There is plenty to complain about here as well, though. The ending was unrealistic in the most cringe worthy was possible. In fact, I'd note that the writers spent too much time on the characters and not enough on the direction of the plot. Good anime, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as their first harem.
