What I really loved about this was how inclusive it is. This is the first anime I've watched which talks truthfully about how it feels to be a foreigner in Japan, and as a westerner who has spent a lot of time there I could really relate to Richard's experience. Other subjects like homophobia and Western racism are touched on, though this anime is too tame to take any of these concepts very far.
