Thank you for the commentary on this. Especially your rebuttal on the adult atraction to a child aspect. People through the "P" word around with wanton abandon and it does more harm than good for current victims and those at-risk. People are in a hurry to work themselves into a fit about perceived impropriety, but not so much in a hurry to support meaningful actions that could PREVENT child abuse.
"I'm with flybynight, I think 5th grade is a little early to be called a lesbian for having a non-romantic crush on another girl. She doesn't have an older sister so the fact that a slightly older and cute girl has befriended her is probably pretty exciting. Little kids look up to teens. She's probably 10 or 11 and the fact that a teenager is spending time with her is cool for her." I actually realized I liked girls and was lesbian at around 11 :)
I will look into the anime you suggested. It still makes me sad though, I would still like to like the characters in Ancient Magus' Bride, but with what happened to them it's pretty hard. It's like getting a new friend, growing fond of them and then watching that friend get brutally murdered.
Any other manga/anime similar-to-but-better-than Ancient Magus?
