First thing first, I honestly don't know why you left a comment on my profile rather than just responding to my comment in the review, especially since it seems you're not even the author.
But anyway, nowhere in that comment did I say the spider isekai ISN'T cliched, nor did I say it's perfect. It definitely plays a lot of isekai tropes straight. But Overlord does that even worse, and yet according to the author of that review, it's a flawless masterpiece. No, it isn't, it's decent (and admittedly has better animation) but nothing more than that. Ultimately, the point of my comment is more about people with zero critical analysis skills throwing 1s and 10s at random than it is about the actual quality of the two shows.
Also, the fact that Overlord's MC isn't a hero changes absolutely nothing. He's still your uber cliched isekai protagonist with barely any depth at all (let's see: Op? Check. Has a crapload of (mostly female) admirers? Check. Didn't have to work for his powers? Check again. Gets everything he wants without breaking a sweat and never feeling danger? Check. Btw, notice how the spider only checks the first one). You claim he "gets into the role" but what even IS his role? He doesn't even seem to have a clear end-goal beside conquering lands. He isn't a hero, but he isn't a villain or a anti-hero either, so really, him "getting into the role", whatever that is, doesn't change the fact the series doens't break any new grounds.
PS: just to be clear, while I liked the spider way more, I believe neither of them is anything particularly exceptional anyway.
