Dragon Ball Z Movie 1: Dead Zone

Jan 25, 2020

Despite being my umpteenth viewing of this movie, it is the first time I've seen it in over a decade as well as with the updated graphics and sound from the bluray release. From the first second it's crazy how clean and clear it is for a movie that's nearly thirty years old. Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I believe it's the newer voice cast as well. Growing up this used to be my second least favorite of all the DBZ films (first being World's Strongest), but I found myself enjoying it much more this time around. It's simple - none of the rediculousness that comes with all the power upgrades over the year... See full review

Wanna be the Strongest in the World Specials

Jan 23, 2020

Honestly? I probably never would have checked this out if it wasn't for the 2020 Winter Anime Bingo Challenge. Sports anime just normally isn't my cup of tea. That said it really wasn't as bad as I thought. Also, this is so extremely NSFW that it can be without being 100% pornographic. As these are specials, and five minute ones at that, there's no real story to follow at all. Having not seen the main series yet you'd think there'd be a little more confusion, but it's pretty straight forward. The... See full review

Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt - December Sky

Jan 20, 2020

Set during the One Year War, Universal Century 0079, while the original Mobile Suit Gundam is happening. This story takes place in the Thunderbolt Sector with little reference to the rest of the expansive Gundam franchise, and could therefore be enjoyed on its own. For the most part it's a typical war movie; as such there is no right or wrong, good or evil – just varying shades of gray. This movie captures that perfectly. You also see the depth of humanity, and the effects of war on the human psyche & soul. Story wise there's an excellent balance of what's going on the Federation's and... See full review

Assassination Classroom TV

Dec 27, 2019

Secret Santa 2019 Assassination Classroom - Season 1   There are plenty of weird things in anime and manga, but there is no denying that in some cases, the weirder it is, the better. Super powerful characters are a key element in anime, and even though the premise may seem pretty simple at first, don’t worry, it is not basic     Death from outer space   In Assassination Classroom a class of rejects and “delinquets” is given the task to assassinate their... Future Diary

Dec 9, 2019

Future Diary, also known by its original name Mirai Nikki, is an animated adaptation from the manga by the same name written and illustrated by Sakae Esuno. In Mirai Nikki we follow the life of Yukiteru Amano, a very average and kinda boring highschool student that has a habit of taking notes of every single thing he sees his phone diary. One day he becomes part of a selected group of 12 people by God itself, who goes by the name of Deus Ex here, to be chosen as its successor since its time is running short and not leaving a replacement would cause the whole universe to cease to exist. Now these twelve... See full review

Yuru Yuri: Mini Yuri

Nov 21, 2019

Was worried about watching this as I haven't seen any of the previous Yuri Yuri series. However this turned out to be  a perfect way to get potential new viewers into it. It's a hilarious insight into who these characters are and what the show is about without being a boring, overly-done recap or feeling explainy in the slightest.

Perfect Blue

Nov 17, 2019

Perfect Blue - A Strange Reality The anime world has always been there to push the limits of what an animation can archiee. It has a special touch to it, you can see how well it can go from the cutest of movies made for kids, to some of the most exciting adventures for the whole family. But it goes beyond that and pushes for a more adult audience, and it does manage to pull this without having to change its core nature. But some kind of movies push for not only an older audience, but also a more mature audience, and that’s the kind of movie Perfect Blue is. While there are many reasons as to why... See full review

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Apr 26, 2019

Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door is a 2001 movie based on the 1998 anime series Cowboy Bebop, of course. On this adventure, Spike Spiegel and the usual crew of Bebop follow the lead to find and stop a dangerous criminal as he threatens to release a new deadly virus on Mars, but this quickly turns into a huge adventure and a new truth is shown later on. That is about as much as we can say about the movie plot without really spoiling anything from the plot. And now we can start reviewing the film itself. The Plot and Narration: The plot itself is incredibly reminiscent of the very style of the... See full review
