Hey I saw your comment on the review about Welcome to the NHK and just wanted to point out to you that there are far more people who like / love it than disliked it. I personally love it. So if you can enjoy a romantic, comedy, slice of life anime then you will probably like it. At least give it a chance, you can find the episodes easily on youtube. Ok I'm done plugging the anime.
Light novels are not manga, they are like novels, only "lighter" to read, often fairly short but multi-volumed, aimed for teenagers and young adults, and they have a few illustrations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_novel
As for where you can get the Ookami-san light novels, you'd probably have to import from Japan and read in Japanese, since there are no translations.
