Great Start, But the Rest... :/

There have been far too many anime that had truly promising first episodes or first-half seasons. Unfortunately, after a certain point, the anime either loses a lot of its original charm and/or goes to complete crap. This is a list for anime that wounded up a failure or simply did not end as strongly as they began...
1 Brynhildr in the Darkness

Brynhildr in the Darkness

It starts off great. But in the last few episodes, the plot becomees rushed and they throw in last-minute characters. This should have been a 24 or 26 episode season, instead...

2 Chaos;HEAd

Chaos;HEAd

It starts off mysterious as we slowly start to piece things together as new mysteries arise. THen, halfway through, several new characters are introduced and all the mystery of the first half of the series is solved in a giant rush. There is so much we don't find out about the new characters. The plot goes in a completely different direction all of a sudden. There is a sudden threat that we are expected to care about. The entire show becomes something completely different...

3 Charlotte

Charlotte

THat first episode was great! Then, it turns into a completely different anime. The character we are introduced to in the first episode is not the same person we see for the rest of the series. So much is glossed over between the first and second episodes. The show turns into an ordinary high school club anime (complete with a romance paired up from the start) but with powers. It it only when a certain character dies about halfway through that it gets interesting, but then that is all resolved an episode later. The last two or three episodes showed the most potential. But they were so greatly rushed. The last episode itself could have been an entire season! Such wasted potential...

4 Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor

Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor

This lacks the appeal the first season of Darker Than Black held. Hei is turned into a secondary character as we get this 13-year-old idiot for a main character. As the series progresses and focuses more and more on this child, it loses more and more interest. It's not a bad anime, per se, but it most definitely does not compare to the original or even to the OVAs...

5 Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland

Starts off with a surplus of mysteries. But as the anime reaches it's final episodes, very few of these mysteries are solved. This leaves you reeling and wondering even more than you were at the beginning. why? How? What? Don't bother asking, because you aren't going to get any answers...

6 Death Note

Death Note

What a great anime! That is, until (SPOILER ALERT) L dies. After that, we get a time skip and two neew characters that are supposed to replace L. The second half of this series just isn't as engaging as the first half. And, really, Light gets a bit pathetic toward the end.

7 Durarara!!

Durarara!!

You have a wide cast, including a strongman, a phantom rider, a mad scientist, and more. What do you do with it? You focus on the three teenagers, and make the main character the least interesting of these three. You give barely any screen time to the far superior characters in favor of some convoluted plot involving three ordinary teens. Then, toward the end, you try to force these teens to seem interesting.

Or, rather, that is what you should not do...

8 Eden of the East

Eden of the East

You have a guy who has lost his memory and a strange mystery surrounding him. Sounds good, right? And, yet, somehow, it turned out utterly boring. Thank God, the movies were far, far better...

9 Black Butler 2

Black Butler 2

Is not on the same level as the first season. The new set of characters take away from the whole reason we are watching this--Ciel and Sebastian. They're both effed with in ways that are so unnecessary and, often, avoidable. It's just...why??

10 La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia

La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia

What an interesting first episode!

And that's it...

After that, it becomes a complete different series. Quite disappointing, really...

11 No. 6

No. 6

Start off very interesting. Then, halfway through, it morphs into something unidentifyable. All of a sudden, there is a romance between these two characters. We get glimpses into their pasts, but little or no details, making those glimpses pointless. The entire direction of the series shifts so suddenly, without any warning. It started off as a good anime, and it ended pointless and forgettable.

12 When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

Yet another one with a misleading first episode. With that title and first episode, you would think this to be an anime about high schoolers having to deal with newfound powers, right? Well, no. Life continues as though nothing happened, albeit the occassional mentioning and mild usage of their abilities. There's no action as the name would suggest. There is an underlying plot here, but apparently, the creators were trying to wait until the non-existent season two to expand upon it or even make it known. Oh, and everyone is in love with the main character, who is not very remarkable. Yeah, one of those anime. How misleading...

13 Platinum End

Platinum End

The first episode seemed promising, but things kept going downhill from there. As of writing this, I've been stalled on episode 12 since it aired over a year ago and have no plans to resume any time soon.

14 SPY x FAMILY

SPY x FAMILY

Hold your tomatoes. I know people worship this show, but the first three episodes were peak. Things went downhill once Anya started going to school.

15 Sasaki and Miyano

Sasaki and Miyano

Started off really wholesome but started to drag. Misano became very annoying as he kept stringing Sasaki along for OVER A YEAR.

16 Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World

Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World

Became too repetitive. There's only so many times an MC can cry about being useless before you start getting annoyed at him being useless.

17 Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers

Exact same thing I said about Re:Zero.
