Never have I watched an entire anime series and read the Wikipedia entry and known LESS about what is going on!?!?!?!? This is MASTERFULLY CONFUSING!!! That isn't a compliment. There is a story in here and it might even be a great one but damned if I can find it. The only thing I can truly appreciate about this anime is the very ending where the protagonist says, "Huh?" No matter what genre you are into, it's in here and that is a major part of the problem. The show suffers fatally from Attention Deficit Disorder. The characters are each unique and adequate time is given so most of their personalities can be shown but that also leads to the ADD problem because there are far too many characters! There are lots of battles but they don't make any sense like when (SPOILER ALERT): a giant fighting robot battles an economist AND LOSES! Another knight fights against an erotic dancer and can't land a strike because a deal with some goddess prevents any physical contact with her unless she wants it. It's almost like the script was written by playing Scrabble and the random words were scripted in the order they were played. Supposedly, this is mature content but the only thing I saw which justified that was the violence but even here, it is rather tame as little blood is ever shown and that blood which is shown doesn't have a body associated with it but is used as ink. Even the lewd scenes are more suggestive than actually present although there is a fair bit of minor sexual harrassment (groping). The only reason I watched the whole thing was to give a fair and honest review rather than my own enjoyment. This was work! This could effectively be a cautionary tale in the event of magic ever developing as everyone's imagination conflicts with everyone else's imagination and you are left with a chaos impossible to navigate. What really gets to me is how reading the Wikipedia on this anime didn't clear up more than 35% of the confusion.
