みなさん、こんにちは  Minna-san, Konnichi wa.  Hi, everyone!

I live in Southern California and love to watch anime!  I've participated in several area anime groups and have been an active anime fan.  I also love to read, and am happy that there is a manga section to the site.  (I haven't read as much manga as I'd like, need to do more! But as with anime, there just never seems to be enough time!)

I'm trying to learn Japanese on my own at home.  Am now fascinated with Japanese culture and hope to travel to Japan sometime!  My passport is ready and waiting! *smile*

Cool factoid about me:  My birthday is the fourth of July!!!!!
(which is a holiday in America, where I live - Independence Day.)

I put time and careful consideration into my ratings and reviews - they are an important part of how I experience anime!

Anyway, here is my anime ratings system. (I use the ratings system of some AP friends: Aranneas and MrBlank and Nicknames (thanks to you all! -- check their profiles for complete details; I've commandeered their systems without permission.) When I watch an anime, I see which blurb describes how I feel when I'm rating it and use the corresponding rating.)

"What did this bring to my day?" / "What did this bring to my life?"

0.5- Horrible anime, too many reasons to count. Speak of this again and there will be nought but pain. Either I couldn't find anything of worth in this production, or it was outright offensive to me in some fashion. NOOO! Avoid like the plague. Worst-ever. So crappy that putting somebody to watch this anime forever without rest could be a really cruel torture. DON'T TAKE IT EVEN IF SOMEONE OFFERED IT TO YOU FOR FREE!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!

1.0- Bad anime, almost nothing interesting at all about it. It didn't make me want to erase the previous minutes spent watching from my mind but let's not discuss it further than that if we don't need to. Seriously... don't. Little redeeming value, no normal person should have to endure watching it. Awful and boring, don't watch it even if you bet money.

1.5- Bad anime, but there are some interesting things in it. Too many things went wrong to salvage the worthwhile pieces. "Would I recommend this?" I can't imagine doing so. Bad, entirely a waste of time. Bad and boring, watch it only if you have a good reason.

2.0- Halfway decent anime, still did not interest me. Lots of things went wrong, or there was a smaller number of critical flaws. Not good, but a small amount of enjoyment was had. The bad far outweighed the good. "Would I recommend this?" Only under very specific circumstances. Might wanna start questioning how much free time you actually have. Barely watchable, definitely a skip. Weak. Not really bad, but still boring.

2.5- Decent anime, might recommend depending on preferences but don't expect anything special from it. It has some problems. Below average. May have had a few good moments, but overall was fairly boring, or uninteresting. Some enjoyment was had, but not much. "Would I recommend this?" If it came up in context. Okay if you've got lots of time... Tolerable, but kind of a waste of time. So-so. In the thin line between entertaining and boring.

3.0- Pretty decent anime, I liked it overall but it did not wow me. It had problems, but it made me smile or think. Above average. Had some good/entertaining moments, though might have been a bit too dull or boring at spots. Enjoyment was had, but not consistently. "Would I recommend this?" If it crossed my mind. "Could I have written this better?" Probably. Mediocre, don't regret watching it, but wouldn't rush to watch it again. Decent. Average, it's fun but don't expect a great anime.

3.5- Good anime, had some good moments in it; the rest was just normal. Good all-round experience, or strong enough in its core factors that it overcomes its flaws. A good and enjoyable watch with some memorable moments; it made me smile and think. Was missing something to give it a lasting impact, and/or had a few weak points. Enjoyment was had pretty consistently. "Would I recommend this?" Almost certainly. "Could I have written this better?" Maybe. A little better than just any time-waster (aka 3 stars). Good, but not good enough to recommend to everyone. Good and entertaining but with some flaws.

4.0- Usually these are anime that I loved but had bad endings, or anime that are really good but don't have anything to give it that extra 1 star. Excellent work all round. Maybe a little rough around the edges, or gets mired in its concepts by the end, but still innovative/dramatic/enjoyable. A very good, entertaining watch that kept me really interested. It might have had some flaws, but my enjoyment far exceeded them. Made a lasting impact, and is memorable to me. "Would I recommend this?" To anyone who will listen. "Could I have written this better?" Probably not. Really good, time well spent! Recommended, all anime fans should watch it if they have time. Very good. Really good anime.

4.5- Excellent anime. One of the best experiences I've had with anime. Did the very best it could with what it had. An awesome, entertaining watch that was extra memorable! It made me feel great things, and had something extra that really affected me. Amazing though it had some flaw... or the ending isn't bad but I would have preferred it differently. I can't stop talking about it or thinking about it. Instant classic, must-see for all anime fans. Great, it impressed me a lot.

5.0- Some of the best anime I have seen; loved the ending, characters, storyline, everything! One of my all-time favourites. Accomplished something truly special in my eyes; some sort of filmographic alchemy may have been at work. An amazing and memorable series that I have a big attachment to and provides me with memories of enjoyment and happiness! Holds a special place for me. Totally amazing, a must! I love it without reservation! No anime has received this score from me yet. Masterpiece, watch it at any cost.

ETA: Updated a bit, big thanks to Wright! Editing again, thanks to Mangina. And to TCTriangle. Another update - thanks, KayuyaShuu!

(The a-p Welcoming Committee used to send out greetings to new members who join the site.  It was wonderful and fun for 3.5 years!)  I used to be super involved with this site, but since I stopped doing WECO, I've taken a break from a-p and am not here much anymore. :(

I joined Pinterest website a while back and have created an anime bulletin board there:  http://pinterest.com/sianeka/anime-bishi/ if you want to check it out.

Please feel free to contact me!

I welcome everyone as a potential new Friend!

Sianeka said..."I've gotten a different job and the schedule varies wildly, so I can't really predict when I'll be working and when I won't so as you may surmise from this, it makes advance planning for things a bit problematic.  In my spare time, I've been gaming.  (I tend to focus on only one game or a couple of games at a time, so I'm not really  "a gamer"  Not like you, LOL) and those keep me occupied.  I still watch anime when I can, but since leaving my involvement with this site, anime has a bittersweet feel to me.  And since it hurts a bit still, I am not as involved with it as I was. *sad*

So, what have you been up to?"

First, I hope you don't mind but I took your idea on copying the previous comment for when I respond to someone. I've been doing that for some time now as I think it was a great idea of yours to do so, especially when I take longer than normal to repsond.

Tricky varying work schedules can be a pain-in-the-ass. Believe me, I know. When I was a retail manager, then interim store manager, my schedule was all over the place. And it suck!

In your 'spare time' you've been gaming, eh? What game or games? Do tell. OH, and just because you play only one or two games at a time doesn't make you any less of a gamer. I usually will play only one or two at a time myself. Sometimes I'll go from playing a particular game I really like for up to a few months, then not touch it again for another few months before re-discovering it.

Don't let the bitter taste of your non-involvement on A-P ruin your enjoyment of anime. They are completely unrelated when push comes to shove. I mean, you can still watch anime and not be associated with A-P any longer at all if desired (PLEASE DON'T DO THAT THOUGH). And trust me, I understand how you feel. I really do. My moderator status will be coming to an unfortunate, sad end soon as well. So don't be too sad, OK? Please? You are an asset when you were here in a much greater capacity and you are still an asset in a smaller one. It's hard sometimes, but think of all the people you do (or did) associate yourself with here. They are the ones that make this site still great for you, me, and everyone else regardless of your past situtation (and mine now too). Like you I might take a small leave of absence from here just to collect my thoughts and feelings, but then I'll return as if nothing is different. Why? Because of all the fun I have with the other people here. That's just me though. You have to do what is best for Sia.  *smiles with virtual hug*

Outside of all that, I've just been working and enjoying my time watching anime, gaming, hanging with friends (usually at some sporting venue), and spending time with Karen (and family).

I hope to chat with you soon again. I really REALLY mean that. Until then, cheers!
