Bungo Stray Dogs 2nd Season

Jan 10, 2017

STORY There were a lot of revelation of what happened in the past (Dazai). This second season reveals why things were as they were at season 1, and how things will develop in the future. It started with the past and ended with a good future outlook. Dazai, Atsushi vs Akutagawa, and Kyouka, as (almost) the centre of the story, developed an unusual relationship. There was a lot of love-hate between Atsushi and Akutagawa, also Akutagawa who helplessly has a brocon-like obsession towards Dazai. The season ended with a bang, and Kyouka joining the agency. ANIMATION Good art! They... See full review

Detective Conan Movie 20: The Darkest Nightmare

Jan 10, 2017

STORY After watching so many episode of Detective Conan, one can somewhat predict the outcome of the story. I wouldn't say that it's bad, but it wasn't the sharpest pencil in the drawer. The previous 2 movies has overshadowed it quite a bit. Quite disappointing, as this movie is related to Black Org, yet, lacks the thrill. ANIMATION & SOUND Consistent and great, wouldn't expect less from a 20 years long running anime. Chosen OST and SFX are really good, BUT, the ending song . . . well, it's matter of taste, and it's not my cup of tea. CHARACTERS This is actually... See full review

Tantei Team KZ: Jiken Note

Nov 13, 2015

6 eps down the show... STORY It's so cute!! Well, there seems to be a good potential development ahead, and even if it started a little slow, the pace has picked up and it's more enjoyable to expect a good follow up. The studio managed to keep it short and sweet. Similar as 'Recorder to Randoseru', with more plot twist, and I guess less comedical. ANIMATION They're great, so far still very stable. Oh, and the chibis are super cute!! >.< I appreciate the fact that they have different facial features (not only the hair style and such). SOUND Nothing notable. The ED though... See full review

Lance N' Masques

Oct 31, 2015

STORY Ok, to be fair, I only watched 4 episode before I drop this series. It was standard and predictable. While it might have some potential of developing great story, I'd rather read the light novel than watch the anime, were I only want to know the story. Anime adaptation has a horrible record in adapting LN anyway. ANIMATION The art, oh, it was unbearable! Not only that it was not stable (the characters were not drawn consistently), it was also... also... very much not my cup of tea. I'm biased, yes, who doesn't :| Seriously, the father of the MC (who, I guess, already in his 30s or may... See full review

Aoharu x Machinegun

Oct 17, 2015

STORY It was funny, but the comedy showed up with hiccups. The story itself was quite entertaining, with quite a number of cliffhanger which makes you feel, "I want to watch the next episode NOOWWW". Yet, in the end, it was predictable, towards the end. As long as Hotaru switch is on, things get 'serious'. It could be better, but, nevertheless, it was quite light and enjoyable series. ANIMATION SUPERB. I should think that this is a shoujou-type anime, yet the action scenes were very fluid. Not to mention, the arts were quite of my type. Most favourite scene? Hotaru in... Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Oct 17, 2015

STORY I had a really good laugh. It's one of the very few anime that maintain 'comedy' tag consistently until the very end. Not to mention, the story always takes unexpecteds turns and quirks. The plot was very clear, despite the thick comedy inside, and it flows very smoothly. ANIMATION Great art! Some of shoujou-type anime I've watched in the past were inconsistent and sometimes, catastrophic. This anime though, maintain a very consistent, beautiful art throughout (even with all the crazy acts). Thumbs up for not recycling any scenes. SOUND I didn't particularly like the OP and... Charlotte

STORY I didn't expect much from this anime, especially after seeing Yuu's sister. However, the story developed nicely, the ESP theme also well thought of. The middle episode felt like filler episodes, but that's where the most comedy kicked in, when the male MC abandoned his facade personality. The ending though, feels really REALLY RUSHED. 2 episodes!! Only that much time was spent for the much awaited conclusion?? I'd rather you lengthen the series to 24 and take a steadier pace to show Yuu's life after he figured out his real power. ANIMATION To be honest, I almost drop the anime after I... See full review

The Irregular at Magic High School

Oct 3, 2015

From someone who watch the anime before reading the light novel. STORY I didn't know that Mahouka was adapted from a light novel. The anime has a lot of plot holes, and things that were left undone. The only saving grace was the geeky explanation, though to be honest, it's a very personal taste and not everyone might like it. You can actually appreciate how some of the pseudo-science (magic) work, if you're willing to relate them to the stuff you learnt in school. (After reading the LN, I realized that a lot more things were explained there, so it makes much more sense.) The plot itself was quite... See full review

Blast of Tempest

Oct 3, 2015

STORY The first part and second part of this anime differs greatly in the story part. The first part is great, it is quite rare for a story to be quoting Shakespeare's works every so often. The mysterious plot is perfect, the super-power-ish theme also fits well into the whole story. The logic twist in the plot was superb, it was a long awaited pretty decent mystery themed anime. The second part though, focus more on the problem solving side. I didn't particularly hate it, yet I didn't particularly favour it either. It was getting weirder near to the end of the series, but I sticked with it... See full review

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace

Oct 3, 2015

STORY I picked up this anime with some expectation, mainly for its crime-mystery genre. I've heard about Edogawa Ranpo's novel, read some summaries and reviews before, but never actually read one of them. However, I'm pretty sure that it was not what this anime depicted. On the first episode, I'm not even sure if this anime has more mystery or shounen-ai atmosphere. The logical explanation of each conclusion made was either never told clearly or just blatantly skipped. The supposedly mysterious atmosphere is blown away by the fan-service moment, which I don't appreciate at... See full review
