Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children

Jan 20, 2018

Verdict: Watch if you like Monster-of-the-Week with at least decent characters and monster. Story: The story is a hotpot with a huge portion Digimon, a bit Dragon Quest and a pinch of early 2000s Shounen. Boy with special genes or something gets told he is one of the "Devil Children" by a "crazy professor"-archetype and he gets to go through portals with the "tomboyish but cute girl"-archetype to fight the Devil and Digimons monsters who got turned evil by said Devil. The other world of the monsters look like Digimon Adventures. The evil monsters schtick was... See full review

Wanpaku Oomukashi Kum Kum

Jan 19, 2018

Verdict: Watch a bit of it to see an early experimential work of Rintaro. Not crazy experimential, more like him testing out how to do an Slice of Life-story. Also if you don't care about story, but just want to see decent characters bouncing off on each other and growing together. Story: Kum-Kum is the Dennis the Menace of anime. During the stone age. He and his friends are enjoying life and are playing around, but also experience the hardship of life and the worth of life and stuff. There's not much story to be honest. But that's fine, because it's not about the story, it's about the characters. It's... See full review

Chiisana Jumbo

Jan 17, 2018

Verdict: Definitely watch it, if you like either musicals and Silver-age Disney animations or experimential story telling. If you hate either then you'll still be able to enjoy it as an anti-war-piece. Story: The story is an anti-war fable. Elefant-trainer-boy Baloo and elefant Jumbo are getting washed ashore on a peaceful island (Their food literally grows on trees and shit) and they entertain the king and the things that live there. But all changed when the fire nat.. when war breaks out between two other nations, but they are literally between the rocket slinging nations. The story explores how war... See full review

Rockman: Hoshi ni Negai wo

Dec 27, 2017

Verdict: Watch it, it's short and an interesting take on the Megaman-franchise. Story: The story is entertaining and well done in its simplicity and execution. Rockman gets an authentic treatment as part of the video game world and him switching to the real world, a world he always recognized as something real but not knowing much about it, is presented in an interesting fashion. The kids who own the game and who become friends with Rockman are explaining Japanese traditions in a simple way for him and in a way that's at least a bit interesting (That's clearly not the strong point of the show. It kinda... See full review

Gaist Crusher

Dec 27, 2017

Verdict: (Maybe) Watch it if you don't mind used up tropes and market tested toy commercials. Story: The story/premise had potential. Sadly it got brutally butchered to promote really cheap looking plastic toys. The baddies are mostly monster of the week and even if they are reoccuring they just feel like a stepping stone to the heroes. The villains are typically evil: some weak henchmen and the boss who is shrouded in darkness giving them commands. One mysterious enemy/actual rival/alleged hot guy included. The story is not offensively bad, but everything that may have been good was killed by some bord... See full review
