Hi hi! I am Sailor Sega. Let's be friends.
The TL;DR version is, I have just started slowly getting back into anime and manga after getting burned out on it a decade ago. I really like the shoujo genre and I'm currently rewatching some stuff that I have already seen but don't remember well and watching and reading some of the older stuff that I missed out on while I was away with the occasional new thing thrown in for good measure.
You can read the full version, below:
I was born in New Zealand in 1985.
The first anime I can remember watching is Voltron: Defender Of The Universe. I didn't realise it was anime at the time. I also didn't realise that the second anime I watched, " Samurai Pizza Cats", was an anime, either. Despite the fact that they flat out said they were. I must have been a really stupid child.
The next anime I watched was Sailor Moon. This is the first anime that I knew was anime when I watched it. And I was hooked at that point. I also found my first manga at this point. It was a random volume of the manga entitled, Ironfist Chinmi that I found at a Scholastic Book Fair. I never saw any other volumes of Ironfist Chinmi before or after this one.
I spent the next decade watching whatever I could find at the video shop and whatever was on the telly. When the price of D.V.D. players and the D.V.D.s themselves dropped to a price that normal people could afford, I started purchasing anime D.V.D.s from a local video game chain-store. I was pirating fan subs around the same time (naughty). This is about the time that I discovered I much preferred shoujo anime and manga. I also started reading Shoujo Beat magazine every month.
At one point I was only watching anime and only reading manga and I got burned out (I think the burnout happened around '09) and stopped watching it for over a decade. I have only just started getting back into it in the last three years. I am nowhere near as into it as I used to be.
