Super Mario Brothers: Peach-hime Kyuushutsu Dai Sakusen

Sep 18, 2022

Dont' get me wrong. Just because I rated this so low doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it. If you want some fire in a pan from 1980's Japan, here it is! I literally rated it 1987 because that's when it came out. The animation is 1980s The "story" is 1980s The "sound" is from a video game The "characters" exist The whole thing is just a series of one things led to another that could make some great 30 second Youtube clips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzlZy9zpw0Q Go ... enjoy it?

Land of the Lustrous

Jul 29, 2022

Truly meets and exceeds expectations. This story tells of personified gemstones who seek to find purpose together and striving against the Lunarians, beings who would turn them into decoration. The premise may sound odd but the way that the world is presented is brilliant, it doesn't feel the need to explain everything to the viewer in piles of exposition but does and excellent job of showing the world and all that it has to offer. Giving the world even greater depth and a great sense of wonder is the soundtrack which consistently goes above and beyond lending mood and tone to the series. Better than all... See full review

A Couple of Cuckoos

Jul 26, 2022

Ok... the premise of this show is that three girls, each with interchangable 1D personalities, all fall in love with a guy with an equally 1D personality and he falls in love with all of them... The target demographic is desperate men who have less than a 1D personality. I just wanted to see how bad the garbage fire would become. Pretty bad in fact. If that's what you're into though I won't criticize you as a person. Try SNAFU instead.

Tomodachi Game

May 22, 2022

An interesting concept hampered by poor characters. Tomodachi Game is a high stakes game where a group of friends is encouraged to betray each other as often as possible for their own gain, in this case, millions of yen. The game is made to crack and fracture relationships and does just that. The issue is that the characters are not all that well written and the pacing is damaged by constantly showing us observers of the game who explain via hand holding exactly what is going on and why it should seem exciting. That kind of hand holding isn't needed. It certainly isn't a bad show, it just isn't very... See full review

Remake our Life!

Sep 19, 2021

In a word, pleasant. If you are tired of super high stakes, piles of fanservice that call themselves "romance" or just wishing you could relax a bit, then you should watch this show. The story is of changing life if you could. Our main character gets a chance to see what his life would be like had he made different choices. The results are not what he would expect. What this character does well is taking each new event in stride and trying to do the best in whatever circumstance he finds himself in. This pleasant lesson isn't forced on you either, it is simply there in the way he acts. Overall it... See full review

Trigun

Aug 31, 2021

Long short: If you want to watch something fun with good writing and memorable characters then get started this is a great series. Watching this in 2021 is so refreshing. I really enjoyed watching this series. I had just barely seen parts of series airing this fall and I was disappointed by the writing and lack of real emotion in the characters, not to mention the overused harem tropes. I started Trigun at the perfect time. Trigun is a sci-fi but mostly western series that begins as a comedy and ends as a thriller. I see some reviews hammer the first few episodes as not having a tone that matches the... See full review

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles

Aug 11, 2021

Your perfectly average Isekai in every way, this is reinforced by Rio looking like Kirito in the op, except that the MC is better written than most* (some). If that peaks your interest, give it a shot. The Isekai that I would first compare this to is Rising of Shield Hero because we have our fellow from another world treated like crap by those around him. The difference is that Rio doesn't turn so bitter. That is a really nice change in my oppinion. Also he goes with temorary harems... take that as you will. The story is fair so far. It isn't the most original premise. Character who comes from here uses... See full review

To Your Eternity

Aug 7, 2021

To Your Eternity is a great 12 episode series. I absolutely loved seeing how they developed an immortal character and showed how he changed with time and how he adapted to the dificulties of life. The characters are great and it is really touching. It will make you cry and tear at your heartstrings from episode 1. Unfortunately the show loses most of what made it good around episode 13 with the introduction of some rather annoying hatable characters. Don't let this steer you away though. Watch the first 12 episodes, enjoy it and then move on.

From the New World

Apr 16, 2021

A complete spoiler free review From the New World is a brilliant story that asks incredibly deep questions. It is surely one of the few stories that has kept me fully engaged with the world while at the same time alienating me from almost all the characters. That may seem a contradictory phrase but in truth it makes for a fascinating dystopian story. It can be broken into different parts, mystery, revelation, and resolution. Where many mysteries like Promised Neverland fall into boredom when the curtain is lifted, From the New World has a world capable of supporting such mysteries such that even once they... Violet Evergarden Movie

Mar 31, 2021

This movie is one of the greatest works to come to film. I have not been moved to such a degree by a movie in a long time. This was a treasure to view. Anyone who has not seen this, I plead for you to see everything associated with Violet Evergarden. It is truly a masterpiece.

My Hero Academia Movie 2: Heroes:Rising

Feb 28, 2021

If you are psyched as crap to see Midoria punch stuff, get beat up, and then eventually team up with friends through the power of friendship to face the trial then you are in for a fantastic treat. If you are looking for something that has some story to it and will make you think hard then keep going. I happen to be in the latter camp but know that a ton of people will love this movie to death!

Armor Shop for Ladies & Gentlemen

Jan 6, 2021

This may be the worst show ever of all time. The quality of the op is indicative of the quality of the rest. The show revolves around a shop which sells "sexy" armor to female adventurers but they fail in every possible way. The animation is poor, there is no story, the 8 bit sound is annoying, the characters are nobodies and this show has no soul. Case closed.

Weathering With You

Jan 26, 2020

I am sure that many people have just been waiting for this film to come out anticipating the next great movie in the career of Makoto Shinkai. Well it is out now and I am going to review it for you. Gorgeous animation. This is a Makoto Shinkai film, what do you expect? The animation was jaw dropping at several moments within the show. Beautiful visuals and stunning shots created an excessive amount of eye candy. However, while the animation was fantastic, the story was a little watered down; pardon the pun. After your name. I was hoping this would absolutely spellbind me, but the story and characters... See full review

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Dec 28, 2019

The crowning jewel of Rascal is the themes that each of the stories tell. Others have covered everything I could talk about so consider this, this anime teaches about coming to terms with ones problems through several key lessons one or more in each arc. First, that we should strive to be comfortable with who we are and not shy away from it trying to hide from what anyone may think. Second, that we can stand up for ourselves in hard situations and that it will do good for us. Third, that though our personalities have flaws, we are who we are and hating oneself for our flaws is not a good idea. Fourth, you... See full review

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms

Aug 30, 2019

I think I just found the most beautifully animated depressing movie ever, of all time. Maquia has a plot unlike any I have ever seen before and it is fairly touching. The story is really sad however. The true gem of this movie is the amazing quality of animation. It is P.A. works after all. They always have great quality animation even if their characters aren't top notch. Heck, you could remove everything except the animation and it would still be worth watching. The other aspects just add a few more points to the overall total Pros: Georgeous animation 11/10, very original story Cons: Doesn't feel as... See full review

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Jul 21, 2019

Oh it was going so well... then we got some lamer characters that failed to add much to the story as well as the feeling of extreme drag. The premise was so good but then it just went downhill from there. I was really enjoying this for the first several episodes until I got to the demon house. Then it was just odd.

Fruits Basket 1st Season

Jul 16, 2019

If you have been looking for a wonderful casual anime to watch look no further. The story is enough to keep one entertained and sweet enough to allow one to simply relax. It has its ups and downs and you can enjoy the whole story as a result.  The animation is georgeous. Extremely detailed and fun. It really pops! I would compare it to many of the best animated shows out there because it often comes close. The music is calm and totally fitting to the show. The characters are really where this show shines. Every character is treated in such an astoundingly human way with just a little over the top... See full review

The Rising of the Shield Hero

Jul 12, 2019

Gah! It started out so good! Got stinking sappy. Started to get good again and then fell into a pit of so much sappiness that I couldn't wait to get out of it! OK it wasn't THAT bad. The story was charming, the tone was light, the animation was decent if not amazing, the music was worth listening to. I felt like they could have made it in 20 episodes and it would have been far better. Just cut some of the crap out. It fell into some tropes like the harem and other things but it turned out decently. Recomendations: If you want a darker tone go with Re: Zero If you want a more fun happy skippy jumpy plot... Re:ZERO: Starting Life in Another World

Jul 12, 2019

Buckle up and don't get too attached to anyone or anything. You are in for quite the ride. This show was brilliant. One of few that I give a 9 or 10 to. If you are like me and you enjoy a darker show that takes convention and turns it on its head entirely then this show is for you. It may look light but it is heavy. Story: Might I just say that the concept for this show was incredibly well done? At first I thought that the concept was going to be far too much like Stein's Gate and that it would not be original enough. No, this show is full of original ideas. How about the only power you have be dying and... See full review

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

May 16, 2019

This melancholy story is moving and fun to see. I would definitely recommend it. Seeing as it is so short, why wouldn't you watch it? Pros: The characters are very fun. The Animation is pretty. The story is good. Really it is very well done all around. Cons: Maybe the ending was just a touch rushed.

May 7, 2019

Overall, the show was fun at times but it just didn't speak to me. Stream it if you want to. An impressive light show with some problems. Pretty art not so pretty story. Stream it if you want. Many have loved it. I just doubt that I was the target demographic (I'm not a teenage girl). If you are not a teenage girl and want a show that will definitely give you the Feels that some people say this one does then watch Violet Evergarden or Your Lie in April, if you want children in a distopian world fighting for survival watch The Promised Neverland, or From the New World. Pros: The art is very well done... See full review

Put simple, first round is solid. 4/5 if you get there and you are thinking that the show was great then consider it done. If you are dying for more then the second half will be fine. It isn't ground breaking but a 3/5 is not bad just don't expect a really intricate plot.

The Promised Neverland

Mar 9, 2019

The world is not what it seams. This story will grant you a glimpse at a wonderful utopia, only to turn it into what a utopia really is, a no place. Each episode of this completely original story will leave you at the edge of your seat feeling a need to see more. The animation is brilliant and shines very well, drawing you into the world. The motion is fluid and well done and the details and expressions are top notch. The sound is perfect. It is juxtaposes with events heightening emotion and lends a deep tone to many parts of the tale. The characters, though not all fully fleshed out, are each fascinating... See full review

Beyond the Boundary

Mar 7, 2019

This anime had potential but never got off the ground. It relies on "because" to explain almost everything. Makes it kinda lame actually. It feels like all of these secrets are being kept from you ready to pound you at the end and then just fizzles out, not in a satisfactory way like watching the coals of a fire burn down but like a dud firework. It just decides that it is done and so it ends. It was entertaining enough but only if you want something that just takes time.

DARLING in the FRANXX

Jan 8, 2019

Darling in the Franxx is wonderful, the art is amazing, the story if not original is pretty good the characters are varied... at least up until it goes to pot. As enough reviews already exist for this criticizing the ending, I want to suggest an alternative, which I consider, at least in my mind, to be canon simply because I said so. There will be spoilers. We begin just before the battle at the Grand Crevasse. In this world, people are no longer born, rather they are grown under APE's supervision. APE's goal is to create "perfect humans," with absolute obedience, incredible war potential and no... See full review
