It's not your typical anime and I can see why people might get frustrated with this one.
It's about faith, freedom and destiny... and one may experience some kind of cultural misunderstanding/misconception while watching the show (I know I did back in the 00's when I was a teen).
Not everything is explained as clear as day, but overal it's a story about how mankind fights for its freedom.
I see the 3 sisters as the incarnation of humanity : selfishness (Yuuhi), doubt (Ushio) and selflessness (Minami). As they each "pilot" the deity called Ranga, which you could see as a tool, they'll learn about themselves, their duty and the bond that unite them.
There is a lot of talking, some action here and there... Music is really good and animation, well, it was the late 90's so be understanding.
Not a classic but definitely an anime I cherish from my teenage years.
