Fire Force

Aug 17, 2019

The fire force seems to have a good idea of what it wants to be in hindsight, yet skews towards unnecessary fanservice wherever possible for no particular reason. It's quite tough to distinguish whether we are dealing with horny teenagers or brave firefighters, and if it continues to sway, the viewers just won't be able to take it seriously. We might just be watching it for the opening.

Reviewed with 6 episodes watched.

5/10 story
6/10 animation
7/10 sound

5/10 overall

Agree. I have definitely kept watching for the opening. Had to drop this after 3 episodes because the start of the 3rd episode made me so goddamn enraged with the fanservice - as I was loving the main character up to that point. I now feel like I have wasted my time even starting this anime.

I love the way you put this: it knows what it wants to be in hindsight. I feel like this is exactly my problem with it and I haven't been able to put it into words until I read your comment. Mind if I quote you on my Instagram blog next time I do a Fire Force post? (@let's_talkabout_anime) it jumps right in without giving any backstory but now in the later episodes it's finally starting to backtrack and do some world-building.

The Japanese just can't stay away from the perverted genres. I knew Fire Force was going to have quite a bit of fanservice in it, which is why I never started watching it.

Totally agree!
