The Seven Deadly Sins

Feb 1, 2023

Nanatsu no Taizai
Reading the Seven Deadly Sins manga was a relatively positive experience. Although it was quite dull and almost failed to stand out from the average, it possessed charm, likable characters, dynamic fights, and decent pacing. For an average shounen, this is already a lot of praise. And having finished reading the manga years ago, I was eager to see the anime as well, despite rumors of how bad it would later become. The first season of this Anime is practically an oversized prologue and doesn't offer anything to the viewer, other than character introductions and a line-up of the most... See full review

Little Witch Academia

Little Witch Academia
This anime sets a great example for all the others, showing how with an almost unlimited concept, it still manages to waste all its potential and simply create subpar results. On the outside, Little Witch Academia looks like a promising work. Animations, drawing style, colorful depictions you could almost think "This is going to be THIS anime!" but no, it's just a bluff. Through this concept you had a limitless reserve of creative actions that could have been accomplished, there are no limitations here. Everything can be as irrational and bizarre as you want. And yet... See full review

Fire Force 2nd Season

Jan 22, 2023

Fire Force 2
With the second season, Fire Force surprised me even more, not only positively but also negatively. All the strengths that this series had in season 1 were again made clear there. The progression of the plot is decent, as well as how information is conveyed to the viewer has good pacing. The characters are still blunt, but likable. And the humor is some of the best to be found in a shounen. I can only repeat myself several times, but Fire Force would have made a better comedy than a shounen. And since I'm already on that point, this anime/manga has uncontrollable comedy qualities. And... See full review

High-Rise Invasion

Tenkuu Shinpan
High-Rise Invasion
It's finally done, these 12 episodes have taken more on me than just complete concentration and massive brain damage, so I hope this doesn't affect my review. High-Rise Invasion is without a doubt a record for one of the worst anime out there. And is therefore yet another proof that there are no quality controls in anime production. Just imagine that this anime is a combination of a hentai, a trash movie, the worst comedy there is, and an Indian action flick. This is how I would describe it and I still can't shake the feeling that it was supposed to be a parody of... See full review

Fire Force

Enen no Shouboutai
Fire Force
I've seen quite a few clips and scenes of this anime on Youtube and naturally, my impression was massively negative. Especially when the best scenes were supposedly Tamaki's Lucky Lewd. Well, at least I thought my experience watching Fire Force would be a sight for sore eyes. But then the unexpected happened... No matter how average Fire Force is, I have to admit that it is a very good anime to watch. It has an unhealthy mix of bizarre, blunt, and amusing character humor. Combined with a pinch of serious scenes, a decent plot, and dynamic fights, you can turn off your... See full review

Darwin's Game

Jan 16, 2023

Darwin's Game As everyone knows, every anime season has its misfits who wouldn't even be loved by their mothers. And Darwin's Game has proven a lot of things with the first 3 episodes, especially how low you can fall and have no idea what you're doing. But I wouldn't call this anime bad, even though the first episodes were just a disaster. Darwin's Game, despite everything, has a relatively average plot, a somewhat detailed game concept, and especially a protagonist which is more rational than you would think. To my surprise, this grit went from being a bad show to a weak show, and in the end, even a... See full review

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean - Part III

Jan 9, 2023

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 6: Stone Ocean Part 3 I still don't like the idea of a three-part season, but it is what it is. With the last third, the best part of this show finally came out. The last battles and the final face-off with Pucci. . And since it's JoJo, you, unfortunately, had to expect again a very weak pacing and some of the most pointless dialogues you can find. But JoJo wouldn't be JoJo if you didn't need at least 5 minutes of screen time for a single momentary scene.
In the third part, season 6 showed its full potential and gave us a relatively respectable final fight, with a decent... See full review

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean - Part II

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 6: Stone Ocean Part 2
It has been torture to wait so long for a single part, but at least it was worth it, right? The second of the three parts is about the continuation of the fights in the prison and eventually the escape. More new bizarre fights, new stands, and chaos. This part of the season is worse than the first but still manages to entertain barely. It only becomes particularly appealing in the last 3 episodes. Content-wise, this season is limited to 3-4 small fight events and the conclusion of the Prison Arc. It's nothing great and you can hardly say anything... See full review

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War

Jan 2, 2023

Bleach [2022]
This is by far the first and only anime I'm going to write a review on, even though it's not even close to being over yet. And this is simply because of how remarkable the new entry turned out to be. Bleach is an anime/manga that has always been known for being extremely dynamic and epic. But it could never really stand out from the typical shounen average, as it covered all the stereotypes and clichés like no one else. The first Bleach season, which had over 300 episodes, was enjoyable to watch, but very lacking in content and monotonous. Not many were talking about this manga... See full review

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

Jan 1, 2023

JoJo Part 6 - Stone Ocean It doesn't make it easier to give a single season 3 different reviews. But as we say in Germany? If you don't grab the sausage, it will grab you. And it should be noted again, this season is once again "typical JoJo". If you still don't like the series by this point, you shouldn't expect anything new here. The main problems of this season are again in the two typical areas. First, JoJo still has deadly slow pacing which doesn't get better over the whole part. Furthermore, the characters' urge to describe and replay every possible action umpteen times. A scene that is... See full review

Baki: Son of Ogre

Dec 30, 2022

Baki: Son of Ogre
By now I have almost no idea what to put in my Baki reviews, thanks to the relatively thin content of the seasons. Although this one has probably been the best season of Baki so far, it possessed the same problems as any other. It's just another oversized training arc for Baki with no real buildup. Honestly, I found Olivia far more interesting than anything else that happened in this arc. The animations are again reasonably improved, but not enough to call them above average. Further, a big heavy problem is the slow pacing. This season could have easily been shortened by 2-3 episodes... See full review

Baki: The Great Raitai Tournament Saga

Dec 20, 2022

Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen After the very tough but amusing Convicts arc, we actually got a sequel to everyone's surprise. After the relatively poor results of the new Baki 2016 series, I didn't expect it to stay alive, thank God I was wrong. This next season is all about Baki's recovery after being poisoned and the 4000-year-old traditions of the 4000-year-old Chinese Raitasai Tournament which is held every 100 years. Hoping that 4000-year-old Chinese martial arts and broken bones can heal Baki, Retsu Kaioh kidnaps the dying Baki to save him. Now comes the most important point, if you are not a Baki fan... Summer Time Rendering

Summertime Render
I don't know if I should praise how much the anime entertained me in the first episodes and that I wanted to watch one episode after the other. Or to express my sadness about how this show got worse and worse with each episode. This is of course often the case that series lose quality over time, but here it was impressively fast. Especially from episode 19 on, you couldn't talk about quality anymore, it felt like the writer was changed and some amateur grabbed his chair. And the golden rule... if in an interesting anime, a white-haired evil loli with different colored eyes appears... See full review

Baki

Nov 13, 2022

Baki - 2018
Anyone who knows Baki or has read the manga knows what they are getting into. The story of Baki is not about martial arts, rationality, logic, explanations, or good fights. It's all about the silliest and most bizarre scenario possible that you can write while making a fight. That's about how Baki can be put into words.
Is your face gone? Don't worry, band-aids will take care of it. Your hand is gone? Let's stitch it up! Did you lose 40 liters of blood? Don't worry, just a drop! Have you suffered a fatal injury or are you even dead? Your doctor is your friend and Son of God, he will... See full review

Children of the Whales

Children of the Whales
I read the synopsis and was actually interested to see what this anime could offer to one. The first episode also gave me very slight Avatar-like vibes, from the presentation and atmosphere of the world. So far it was also still decently convincing despite slow entry.
Long story short, in the end, this was an even more traumatic event than I could have ever imagined. And I ask myself again, why are there no quality controls before something like this even gets a budget for adaptation? There's no way there were serious people who thought this anime was a good idea.
The... See full review

Overlord IV

Overlord 4
Of all the seasons, this one was definitely my favorite. Not only thanks to the improved animations, and faster pacing but also because of the more varied events. Of course, it's just another season for Overlord fans per se. If YOU are not a fan of this series, this season will not convince you either. The scenario of a man who becomes an emotionless Overlord to devour the world, whose story is told from his narrative, does not appeal to everyone. In addition, this anime is very monotonous in the long run and always comes down to the same results. Ainz is cool, Ainz is badass, Ainz has no... See full review

Classroom of the Elite 2nd Season

Oct 11, 2022

Classroom of the Elite 2
The second season hangs on the events of the first one and takes the island trials to the next round. In addition, this season improves in almost all possible areas and manages to appear much more convincing.
If someone didn't like the first season, they should think twice about watching the second. Both have more or less the same storyline and content, except that the second goes more into detail and has less fan service. The most important point to understand is that COTE is a novel/anime that is built solely on the "enjoyment" factor, apart from which all... See full review

Classroom of the Elite
Take any anime that takes place in a school, give the school a system and make some characters geniuses, and you have Classroom of the Elite, not to mention the fan service that goes with it. And this is "almost" all that there is to it. Additionally, the first season is mostly weak and can just about keep its head above water with a few scenes. What is this show even about?
To quickly get to the point, it's your typical school anime only with a few unique features that make it stand out. The protagonist is an emotionless monster who was explicitly raised to be the... See full review

Cyberpunk : Edgerunners
In many regards, this anime is a double-edged sword. However, for someone like me who doesn't know cyberpunk games, it is a very interesting backstory and introduction to the cyberpunk world. The first 4 episodes are a great example of how to start a show to catch the viewer and make them curious. Within these episodes, the characters were introduced as quickly as possible and the world, the system, and already the first relationships were tied. Through a very well-balanced pacing and creative scene changes, you got the feeling as if this anime would flow into you. I would... See full review

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

Sep 7, 2022

Dragon Ball - Super Heroes I grew up with Dragon Ball and to this day I still have nostalgic feelings for this franchise, no matter how far I've strayed from it. With the existence of Super, my bone marrow was shaken. At first, I was very skeptical of this show, and once I watched it, I was even more skeptical about the future of Toriyama's ingenuity. Especially after seeing how much old stuff from Dragon Ball Z, was reused in the "Moro Arc".
But ok, it was just an arc that was a combination of the Frieza and Cell arc, right?! What if now we get an entire FILM in CGI which is practically an... See full review

Spirited Away This was the only Ghibli film from my childhood that I saw several times and had some memory of, even a positive one.
I don't regret watching it again, but I lost my nostalgia glasses, which made the experience completely different. Spirited Away is an interesting movie, which offers the viewer an imaginative and ominous portrayal of a magical world that a little girl accidentally gets lost in. The visual and narrative perspective was very appealing and impressive enough to be convincing. My biggest problem with the film was, that it left me feeling like it didn't know what it was... Howl's Moving Castle
I watched this movie only once in my childhood and had hardly any memory left, so I just had to watch it again. Nostalgia feeling is not present in me, therefore I could watch the film practically for the first time without being prejudiced. Unfortunately, I have to say that all the hype about this film could hardly be more wrong. Moving Castle is a tale of how an ordinary hatmaker gets cursed, involved in a little adventure story and a war. The majority of the film turns to present various spells and concepts of her magical world, and the second half revolves around the war and... See full review

Natsume's Book of Friends Season 2

Sep 5, 2022

Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou After the disastrous experience I had in the first season, I was already floored to learn that this show has 6 full seasons. I just thought to myself "what have I gotten myself into here!!!"
But to my surprise, this season was more than twice as good as the first, even if it didn't change much in the content. Natsume's Book of Friends - is a show that follows the everyday experiences of Natsume, who unlike other people can see Yokai. This complicates his life enough, plus he has to deal with their problems. The problem with this show is that it is very episodic and... See full review

Natsume Yuujinchou I started this anime knowing that it would be episodic and was already expecting something such as a story to not occur. After the first 2 episodes entertained me well and episode 3 was just ok, my hopes were completely dashed. The rest of season 1 was an immense insult, and incomprehensible. At the moment I am writing this review, I have already seen season 2. That's why it shocks me all the more that there is this massive fluctuation in quality.

86 - Part 1
After hearing so many positive things about this show, I had no choice but to check it out for myself. And to be honest, I was both pleasantly surprised and disappointed. This is one of those anime where there is a relatively even contrast between great scenes and fairly sub-par scenes. In some episodes I just thought to myself "Awesome, this is the kind of narrative with excellent scene transition and pacing I've been looking for" and in other scenes, I just sat thinking "Did the author have a vacation or just run out of ideas?" By not intending half of his plans himself and his allies simply being more interpretive, he always manages to save himself. Compared to the first season, this one has a little better pacing and a more interesting plot. You still shouldn't expect too much, this season practically consists of 2 side quests. Gintama The Final This review comes from the fingers of a Gintama fanboy. The content is 100% serious, biologically grown, and may be passed on to your neighbors at dinner. Overlord If you are a fan of Dark Fantasy, where the protagonist plays the main role of the "antagonist", then you have found just the right thing here.
