"I accept the premise, therefore I enjoy Anime."

---

My ratings are based solely on the enjoyment I got from watching the show/movie. I can enjoy a 'meaningful' anime as well a whacky, pointless series. While I certainly notice an excellent level of animation (or a particularly bad one), the quality of an animation and/or the score or soundtrack hardly influence my ratings. A crappy story is a crappy story, even if the animation is excellent. This holds true the other way around.

Another factor is that I bought many of the anime I have watched. For this reason, I seem to have too many good ratings than one would expect on average. It is just that every bad show means equals a waste of money, which makes me try to choose carefully which anime I am going to watch next.

The default rating is three stars.

RallyVincent says...  Conversations are nice, albeit the recaptcha is really impractical.

The captcha feature is an annoyance, but I've done so many comments on the site that I've just grown used to it, and breeze thru it as fast as I can...

RallyVincent says...  Well, I usually play RPGs, which means that the playtime ranges somewhere between 40 - 120 hours. If you put several games aside, you'll never catch up, and the game's story has much more effect if you don't split it into small bits. Thus, I prefer to play the games over watching anime. It is also much easier to squeeze in six episodes of an anime series at the end of a day; an amuse-view, so to speak. ;)

Well, you could almost say the same thing about anime... except I for one, rarely have the time to marathon ANYTHING, game or anime, to watch in one large time period.  Everything for me, these days, is split up into small bits, since that's how I get my time availability.  In small bits.  I still do a little bit of gaming, and I try to fit in some anime whenever I can...  It's never practical to sqeeze in 6 episodes of an anime at the end of a day, for me.  Lucky you to be able to!  Every now and then, I can marathon something, but that is a rare occurrence.

RallyVincent says...  Oh, don't worry about that. Replies are welcome, but not mandatory. ;)

Not mandatory, but so much fun!  I love comment conversations! *smile*

RallyVincent says...   [RE Darker Than Black]  Ah yes - that's buried in my to-watch-pile as well. But I doubt I'll be able to watch it before Uncharted 4 is released, and after that, several more games probably will find their way into my flat. Who knows when I'll have time for anime then...

Funny, I'm the opposite.  No time for games, usually, because of my anime habit.  There just is NEVER enough free time available!  Some of my friends are like you, though, games before anime. LOL

So sorry for my delay in getting back to you.  Life just has this way of interrupting everything I’ve planned to do! *wry grin*

(It is sure easy to get distracted by games, though, innit? hahaha  There is never enough time to do all the things I need to do, watch all the anime I plan, and play games!  Heck, there's never enough time to do even one of those.)

RallyVincent says...  Yeah, it's the same for me time-wise. There is never enough time after work to play and watch everything. Unless one needs to do some leveling, one can watch omething on the side.

I generally really get into my game so I am not usually able to "watch something on the side"  Especially if the something I am watching is on the computer and I'm playing a computer game.  I don't like to jump from window to window...

(If I focus on one, the others never get any time, and if I spread out my time, I finish nothing for any category. *sigh*   Therefore, I almost never get to binge-watch shows! So, most show viewing is slow but steady for me.)

RallyVincent says...    Ugh, I coudn't do that. If I like the show, I wanna know how it proceeds/ends. It's the 'just-one-more-episode-snydrom' that makes people stay up way over their bed time. Same with games. If I play, I play. When I'm done, I can watch something or start another game.

Yes, this is how I am: If I play or play. When I'm done I can watch something or start another game. It is rare that I'll try to do something else at the same time I'm playing a game.  I've tried it sometimes, but it usually means I am less successful at both the game and the other something I try.

But I've gotten used to watching anime with other people and therefore watching on THEIR schedule instead of mine. So I'm no stranger to having to wait in order to watch more.  So I often have many shows I'm in progress on, and make slow progress on them when I can.  I hardly ever have enough time available all at one time to binge watch an entire series.

(If you like anime to play with your emotions, then Afterstory is a universally recognized string-puller.  If you like world building, I really enjoyed DTB for that. (Lots of only partially answered questions, but I still very much enjoy the concept world of Contractors and Dolls... wish there was even more! )

RallyVincent says...    If it is Clannad: Afterstory, then it'll show up my list. It is buried in my to-watch-DVD-pile. What is DTB?

Yep, by Afterstory, I did mean Clannad: Afterstory.  DTB = Darker Than Black

RallyVincent says...   Well, since I binge-watch almost anything, I don't have any show I am "currently" watching, except Naruto Shippuden (the next box is going to be released next week). I just finished K-On! (both seasons) and the first season of Psycho-Pass, then Watamote and chuunibyou-demo-koi-ga-shitai. I have a few shows lying around I didn't manage to watch, got in the mood, ordered the above shows and watched them first. Hehe.   Next up is Chrono Crusade, and then Tenchi Muyo (I finally got my hands on a copy of this, although I don't know for sure if I got the OVAs yet), maybe Clannad Afterstory or Darker than black - if I don't get distracted by upcoming video games, that is.   Cheers  RV

Therefore, I almost never get to binge-watch shows! So, most show viewing is slow but staedy for me.  I did see all K-on related though, and all Psycho-Pass. Seen a lot of Tenchi with my anime groups. Have seen S1 of Chuunibyou. Never have seen Chronos Crusade - I'd like to check it out!

RallyVincent says...  Hi Sianeka,   thanks for the welcome. One of your club members also has greeted me a few days ago (insert slice-of-life-highschool-anime-comment about club activities here). d(^-^d)   AP is a great resource for deciding what to watch next. If only I had more time to watch everything...  Cheers  RV

Oh, I feel for your pain! My constant lament is "So much anime, so little time!" There is never enough spare time in the day to be able to fit in all the shows I want to watch!  My "watching" statistic tells me I am in progress on 187 shows right now, and that I have 327 shows on my Want to Watch list!  And those numbers keep going up, not down, no matter how much watching I seem to do!

What are you currently watching that interests you most?
