So apparently the events of this anime happen before the events of the other Danganronpa this season and the original anime. I still don't understand where the original anime fits in to this exactly or how (so if someone knows...please tell me!!) but I guess it is probably after this story too. To be honest, I don't know if this one will be all that interesting. It is supposed to lead up the the huge despair distaster while the other Danganronmpa this season happens after. Do we ever get to see what actually happened during the huge despair thing or are we just going to talk about it in past and future tense? Who knows!

EDIT: I figured it out now how the three animes fit together. I know I am missing some of the story because I didn't play the games but I don't play games nor would I know how to even begin. However, as the two Danganronpa series have been coming along this season, it helps piece together the gist of things. It hasn't gone into detail but it's explained enough that I'm not confused anymore. It's Despair arc, then Danganronpa the Animation, then Future Arc for the animes.

Anyway, I say I don't know if this one will be interesting or not because so far all that's happened is characters were introduced as a teacher went around rounding them up and bringing them to class. In the other two stories, the characters are introduced into a killing game right away and this feels more like the Otaku Teacher anime or GTO or something with more powerful wacky charactersEdit: I was worried it wouldn't be as interesting because it felt more like a normal school anime, but as the story progresses, it gets a lot more interesting.

EDIT: Sometimes I get a bit confused watching Despair and Future at the same time because some characters are in both. I still don't get why both came out at the same time. This Arc started out kind of slow and didn't look like it was going to explain much, but it finally got that similar feel of the first anime with the strange mysterious events and forboding atmosphere etc. I just hope they can hash it all out smoothly in the episodes left.

Also, I really hate the one character who seems to be clumsy and twice already she has managed to fall down and be shown in some sexual hinted pose in a way that makes me feel like the makers of this anime just aren't as good. There really is no need for that in this story. Quit the dumb fan service when it's out of place. Edit: Luckily that stopped happening.

so basically the chronological order makes about as much sense as the FNAF timeline did.

To enjoy both anime, you should have knowledge of the second Danganronpa game beforehand. Unfortunately because of that, you can't really appreciate the first episode as it was basically pure and enjoyable fanservice for fans of the game.

If you're an anime only watcher, you won't be able to appreciate both of the animes airing now because you'll have no knowledge of what's happening. This is almost entirely in context of the game.

But still, here's the timeline:

Danganronpa 1 > Danganronpa 3 Despair Arc > Danganronpa: Another Episode > Danganronpa 2 > Danganronpa 3 Future Arc

Danganronpa 3: Despair Arc (the one you're watching right now) is a prequel to Danganronpa 2. It explains what's going to happen in Danganronpa 2. Danganronpa 3: Future Arc is a sequel to Danganronpa 2, and will expand on the events going on in Danganronpa 2. So...it's really completely 100% necessary to understand what happened in Danganronpa 2.
