Least Favorite Anime

A list of anime that I disliked. I didn't even finish some of them because they were that awful or that boring, and I usually try to finish anime even if I don't like them. Me not finishing it says something all by itself.
1 Attack on Titan: Junior High

Attack on Titan: Junior High

At first, I didn't mind it. It's meant to be ridiculous. After several episodes though, it got old. I'm not easily impressed by parodys or pure comedies so maybe it's just me...but I lost interest in this quickly. Making a big deal out of giants stealing school lunches just isn't my thing. It reminded me of a modern version of Romeo and Juliet I was forced to watch once where the script remained largely unaltered but the characters were weilding guns, driving cars, and running on beaches so it just came out......wrong..

2 GANTZ

GANTZ

Honestly....I didn't finish the first episode...so I probably don't have the right to claim the whole anime is terrible. However, first impressions are important and this one made a terrible first impression. The first few scenes were too vulgar and tasteless imo. Very little can actually disturb or disgust me but this one managed to and probably in record time too! Maybe one day I will try again, but I haven't had the motivation yet.

3 Maria Holic

Maria Holic

It gets old really fast. At first, it wasn't so bad, but it's the same. I quit after a while.

4 Monster

Monster

People say this show is slow and they aren't joking! Sure...the turtle won the race against the rabbit...but I think even turtles move faster than this show. It was interesting at first but it just kept dragging and dragging without offering enough to make it interesting. I never finished it. I do NOT have the patience of a saint. If you do, then maybe you can handle this.

5 Amatsuki

Amatsuki

The problem with this anime lies mainly in the fact it isn't finished. It's not even close to finished. Hec! The main conflict has yet to be revealed in it's entirety. Not even close! The characters and concept aren't necessarily bad, but there is so little story covered. It's a waste really.

I don't think you can convincingly argue that the purpose was to get more readers for the manga either since there isn't enough of the story in the anime to truly draw much interest. It's not enough to claim they were expecting a second season either. Even a first season has to accomplish more.

Honestly, the story had potential but in the end it's just a waste. If there was a purpose to doing in that way, I would love to hear it.

6 Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon

Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon

Cliche and Cheesy. I'm not claiming that cliche is always a bad thing. I'm not even claiming that being cheesy is bad. However, in this anime's case, being cheesy and cliche only destroyed what little chance it had at being great that had yet to be ruined by other factors. Everything was cliche to the point I felt I litterally had watched it before.....like five times. Furthermore, it's not memorable in the slightest. There were no monkey wrenches or creative twists. About the only thing I remember was just how cliche the main character was and how cheesy his lines were. GIVE ME A BREAK DUDE!

7 Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Baka is right. This show is baka, to the extreme. It has a common setting and a common conflict and a bunch of stupid characters. Usually, the 'stupid' characters aren't actually stupid, society just judges them as such. In this case, they are actually stupid. Even the smart ones aren't very intelligent. The whole show is stupid.

8 Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts 2

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts 2

Baka times two.

9 Intrigue in the Bakumatsu: Irohanihoheto

Intrigue in the Bakumatsu: Irohanihoheto

The main character is hardly developed and the story does not flow very well. It's bland. There are a few decent moments where it's actually slightly interesting, but I feel the best way to describe the whole show is that it is like a ghost. There isn't much substance and it isn't solid.

10 Chaika: The Coffin Princess

Chaika: The Coffin Princess

There are no particularly strong characters and the story is to long and complex for so few episodes. I quit short of the last episode. I knew it wouldn't finish or the finish would be so rushed it might as well not exist. It wasn't interesting enough to waste another 20 minutes on anyway. Waste of time.

UPDATE: I know there is more to this anime than just these episodes so maybe it's not as bad as it seemed. I haven't had the motivation to make another attempt at it.

11 Chaos;HEAd

Chaos;HEAd

I'm not sure the plot is even entirely cohearent, or maybe it was just so boring I didn't bother to make sense of it. Was there a plot? It felt like a giant clusterf***. It's a headache.

12 D-Frag!

D-Frag!

What is the reason for the existence of this anime? There is none. It might as well be plotless with bland stereotypical characters. Oh wait, it is.

13 Death Parade

Death Parade

Overrated. It doesn't live up to the hype. It's episodic (and not in a halfway decent way) and the main character is so bland. I couldn't really figure out what the point was. It has a story at times and a few interesting characters, but it felt choppy. It felt like there was supposed to be more to it as well. I don't really know, I just didn't like it.

14 Princess Resurrection

Princess Resurrection

Where is the ending? It's pretty ridiculous and abnoxious to begin with but even when it gets a bit interesting, there is no ending. There isn't even an attempt at some type of closing. It's like they suddenly just quit in the middle of things without wrapping anything up. A previous episode could have been done slightly different to wrap things up but it wasn't and the last episode was more like a special or ova than a last episode.

15 Sky Wizards Academy

Sky Wizards Academy

Ever feel like you're having de ja vu while watching an anime because it's so similar to a dozen others. Yeah, that's Kuusen for you. It's ending is worthless too. I have nothing against underdogs, but the point is for them to succeed or at least fail in a comedic, meaningful, or interesting way. For the majority of this anime, they just fail. It's frustrating. Another major issue was the main characters past is hidden too much which made me dislike him. There were too many unanswered questions.

But mostly, it's just not unique and the characters are weak.

16 Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers

Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers

Lets spend hours and hours watching episodes with a bunch of characters trying to figure out who the odd one out is when that isn't the most important matter at the moment to start with. It gets real old real fast and if they never make a second season then it will be completely pointless too! They haven't accomplished a single thing.

17 Sankarea

Sankarea

Not exactly your typical zombie story but that doesn't make it a good one. It doesn't have a strong plot or especially strong characters. It doesn't feel finished either.

18 Sankarea OVA

Sankarea OVA

19 Shakugan no Shana

Shakugan no Shana

Somewhat bearable, but since the third season is so bad, there isn't any point.

20 Shakugan no Shana II

Shakugan no Shana II

Could have been a decent anime. The first season was okay, this season was decent, and the third season ruined the whole thing.

21 Shakugan no Shana III

Shakugan no Shana III

Nothing from the previous seasons made the situation in the third season a likely one. It could have been an entirely different anime. It made no sense. Even if you drugged the characters, for some of them, their entire personality changed so completely it wasn't the same person anymore, just the same body. The events don't make any sense either. It wasn't a particularly strong anime to start with, but the third season messed up so much it can't be considered worth watching as a whole in my opinion.

22 My Bride is a Mermaid

My Bride is a Mermaid

The first 15 episodes are full of yelling and so much ridiculousness it's hardly watchable. After that it calms down and becomes more of a normal comedy that even has some interesting and funny moments....if you don't get a headache from the first fifteen episodes!

23 Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online

Wtf? It skips waaaay to much time, the plot is full of holes (insert some ridiculous joke about swiss cheese or the catholic church). Honestly, I could write a ten page paper on everything wrong with this anime. I thought if I watched it I might understand what all the hype was about but I don't. If the other seasons are better, I don't know because I'm afraid of watching them in case they torture me as much as this one did. Supposedly they are better....I wouldn't bet money on it.

24 Tokyo Ghoul √A

Tokyo Ghoul √A

First season: good. Second season: not good. It's dissapointing the story took the path it did. It's a bit confusing too. Mostly it's just disappointing.

25 Tokyo Underground

Tokyo Underground

It's okay, but the animation quality isn't that high and the story isn't very interesting.

26 Black Cat

Black Cat

I can't remember my reason for this one so it couldn't have been too terrible, but bad enough for me to give it a poor rating.

27 Ultimate Otaku Teacher

Ultimate Otaku Teacher

Haven't I seen this story somewhere before? Oh yeah, about half a dozen other animes that were almost identical. It's another one of those cheesy episodic animes where an unusual teacher helps a bunch of strange children overcome certain obstacles or an Otaku is forced to help others. There is hardly any creative spin on the situation or characters to make it unique and or interesting. It wasn't bad. It wasn't torture. I didn't hate watching it. But it's just too overdone.

28 Ace Attorney

Ace Attorney

Don't even get me started. This one is for people who play and like the games. If you don't, it's just too weird.

29 Bubuki Buranki

Bubuki Buranki

30 Divine Gate

Divine Gate

It had a bit of potential but....it shot itself in the foot....like ten times. Honestly, I thought it could be interesting simply because I liked the main character....or rather, I found his avoidance of hot food, to the point he would cool it with ice simply because of his past, interesting. But everything else is more or less a clusterfuck of what the hec.

31 Norn9

Norn9

Another one with potential that ultimately shot itself in the foot. Admittedly, it fired fewer shots than Divine Gate, but still. I think the biggest problems were the ending, the lack of explanations behind what was going on, and it's attempt to be too many genres at once.

32 Cheating Craft

Cheating Craft

What......the........I get that it's supposed to be ridiculous....but this is too much. The short episodes and weak plot don't help.

33 Endride

Endride

Guy with an obsession with rocks gets transported to another world or something like that. The introduction of the main character and the plot were poor and confusing. I don't remeber how many episodes I watched before quitting, but it wasn't many. Is the entire story bad? I wouldn't know. However, first impressions are important and it's hard to recover from a bad start.

34 Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia

Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia

Love hotel....indecent acts...indecent sounds....giant robot head????????????????! Lets forget for five seconds the weird concept for the plot and focus on the first five or so minutes of this anime....on second thought...it's just as weird and wrong as the concept! I didn't finish this anime. I didn't finish the first episode. If the description wasn't enough to tell me to steer clear of this anime (obviously it wasn't), then the first five minutes is. I mean....if giant robot heads falling from the sky after what appears to be indecent acts is your kind of thing or indecent acts being what will save the world or whatever....more power to you. If not....don't bother.

35 KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!

KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!

Lots of people like this anime and maybe if I ever give it another chance, it will be removed from this list. MAYBE. Honestly, this was another one where I felt like I had seen this story a few times before. The way it starts is unique enough I suppose (in it's own way), but from there, it just felt like the same old same old and failed to capture my attention and interest. I wouldn't call it terrible, but I generally classify anything I can't finish as being bad because a good anime should keep me interested from start to finish.

36 Rewrite

Rewrite

It wasn't uninteresting exactly...it just wasn't interesting enough to keep me watching. Granted, I tried to watch this while the episodes were still coming out. When I say it wasn't interesting enough to keep me watching, it means it wasn't good enough to make me care about what would happen next for an entire week while waiting for the next episode. It might have been entertaining enough to keep me interested long enough to click the next button five seconds or even minutes later.....maybe even hours later....but not seven days later.

So putting it on this list might be unfair....okay, it probably is unfair and I might remove it....but I don't feel like it right now.

37 Twin Star Exorcists

Twin Star Exorcists

This is another one I just couldn't finish, and again, if I can't finish it, I don't consider it a good anime. My reason for dropping it? The main character. The way he acts for like the first five or eight episodes (or how many ever I watched) bothers me. It makes me uncomfortable and I just can't stand him. I think I started having flashbacks of 'Shinji, get in the damn robot' too, if you get the reference.

It wasn't the story that turned me off. It wasn't most of the characters. It wasn't even the entirety of the main character. It was just a few quirks that really bothered me and made the story unbearable. But a lot of people like this show so hey, don't take my word for it if you don't want to.

38 Dimension W

Dimension W

I just couldn't get into this and it wasn't memorable.

39 Beautiful Bones: Sakurako’s Investigation

Beautiful Bones: Sakurako’s Investigation

40 Blood Blockade Battlefront

Blood Blockade Battlefront

41 Dance with Devils

Dance with Devils

42 The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

It's unfinished....and there is very little that can make me hate an anime more than when it's left unfinished..

43 Diabolik Lovers More, Blood

Diabolik Lovers More, Blood

44 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

It's not so much that I hate this anime as it is I prefer the other version. Honestly, I never finished watching Brotherhood. I lost interest early on. If I had seen this before I saw the first anime, it might have been different because comparing it to the first was what made me dislike it. I think the beginning of the story in the first anime was done better than Brotherhood. Brotherhood lacked the emotional strength at the start when compared to it's predecessor. It failed to pull me in and make me care as much. I've been told that I would probably like Brotherhood's ending better since I disliked the way the previous version ended, but I never got that far. On it's own, I don't think this one is bad, but compared to the other....at least at the start....it's not great. Unfortunately, unless someone has a way to erase my memories or I wait long enough to forget more, I can't change my bias.

45 Ghost Hound

Ghost Hound

This was another one I just couldn't get in to. It starts out slow and plain. If that was the only problem, I might have lasted more episodes than I did (I might have lasted two or three at most), but I disliked the character designs. The lack of vissual appeal made me far less inclined to stick with it until things picked up assuming that they do indeed pick up at some point.

46 K

K

The series as a whole isn't terrible, but honestly, the first season is like a 13 episode prologue in my opinion that makes very little sense and isn't overly enjoyable but has to be watched to understand anything else. It doesn't become the real story till the last few episodes then continues into the movie and into the second season which is actually interesting and enjoyable for the most part. The last few episodes of this season are slightly interesting.....but I more or less had to force interest for the previous episodes and force myself to keep watching. Technically, the first time I watched this anime, I quit around episode seven and I don't often quit that far into an anime.

47 Loveless

Loveless

It's unfinished and the visual quality is poor at best. That's not really unexpected considering the year it was made and the genres it belongs to though. However, I didn't think the plot was carried out very well either.

48 Speed Grapher

Speed Grapher

Another one I never finished. Another one I couldn't get in to. I tried, but I couldn't make enough sense of it or understand where it was going well enough to be interested.

49 Spiral

Spiral

Other than the poor visual quality, which can probably be attributed- at least partially- to when it was made, the plot is repetitive. Well, it was repetitive for as many episodes I managed to sit through. It's like a see through mystery with overdone sub plots that lack a unique twist and characters.

50 Watamote: No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!

Watamote: No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!

How many times can you possibly cringe during an anime. Not only is the main character painfully hopeless and just.....painful to watch, the plot doesn't add anything to make the story better.
