ERASEDSome say this series didn't deserve all the hype it got. Some say the ending was bad. Personally, I enjoyed it and I think it really is worth watching. It had a little twist toward the end that I never expected but I kind of liked. Of course, if you don't like watching children in anime and want all the characters to be middle school or older, then you might want to skip. The characters were well developed and interesting. The story was actually complete (yes it is possible for an anime, who knew?). The story was well paced and well developed. Overall it really was a good anime. It may not be #1, but it is good. |

Assassination Classroom 2nd SeasonCurrently paused. There are so many characters in this anime. I loved the first season, but between when the first season ended and the second started, I forgot some of the characters and their personalities, so I need to rewatch the first season. |

Divine GateF.A.I.L. Disappointing. I really liked the main character. I liked his personality and thought he had an interesting back ground (that they didn't use nearly enough). I had high expectations. What I found was a clusterf*** of characters, a complicated plot, some stereotypical problems, and a bunch of IDK's. There were too many characters for such a short anime and they weren't introduced well, but they all seemed to be somewhat important to the story. Result, I had no clue who was who, no idea what their story was, and no idea why they were doing whatever the hec they were doing! The plot didn't fit in so few episodes either...well I think there was a plot, maybe many, maybe none at all.....idk. The large number of characters didn't help. The conflicts weren't very unique and were a bit cheesy too. For the most part, I just don't know. It's like walking into the house of a severe hoarder and seeing the mess. You just don't know what you are looking at. |

KiznaiverI guess my interest in this one is probably due to my interest in anything psychology related be it realistic or not. That aspect of this anime I like. The kind of goofy character designs (it probably has a name but I don't know it) and the costumed weirdos take away from the story sometimes, but overall it is decent. I think it could have explored the characters a bit more but it wasn't bad. It's an interesting watch. It gets a little bleh in the middle but picks up later on. I'm curious to see how it ends though. |

Ace AttorneyIf you have played the video games then you might like this. In my opinion, it's garbage. It looks and sounds like someone litterally recorded the game and put it on a screen calling it an anime (not that I ever played the game or will). It's anything but realistic and apparently doesn't make much sense unless you have played the game. It's hardly surprising that it ranks so low. It isn't the lowest, since it at least has a plot and isn't entirely boring, if for no other reason than making fun of it is easy. However, it's not worth the time unless you have absolutely nothing else. |

Ajin: Demi-HumanThis was actually a pleasent surprise. I was a little thrown off when I saw it was all entirely CGI but at least it was well done. It's not pixar but it is by no means bad. My favorite character got left behind early on but I did enjoy the characters. There are things I like and dislike about each one. I can't say there is a character that I always hate. The plot is strong and I can't wait for the next season. It's not horror like Corpse Party or Another though. It's more like Parasyte horror. |

Snow White with the Red Hair 2nd SeasonI love this anime and the second season is as good as the first......except the fact that the relationship remains pretty much in the same place as before. That boy needs to propose already!!!!!!!!! |

Bubuki BurankiIt deserves it's low rank without a doubt. I quit after the first or second episode. Talk about confusing and not even in an interesting way. I can't imagine the rest of it was much better. Besides, first impressions are important. If you lose me at the very beginning then no matter how good you are, it barely matters. |

Bungo Stray DogsIt's a little on the wild side. It has that episodic feel even if it's not entirely episodic. The main character is weak but has an ability that is special and got him a high rank on the most wanted list. There are some stories where they actually act like detectives and solve mysteries but it isn't the most prominent theme. Overall, it's about average. It's worth watching for some entertainment but it's not anything super special. |

Dimension WI feel for the guy. A world dependent on some technology and what the main character would like most is for it all to go bye bye. He's old fashioned and yet every bit as powerful as his fancy opponents. While I often found my attention wavering, it's not a bad anime. Perhaps it doesn't quite fit my taste, but it's still worth a watch. |

EndrideFirst off, having a main character with a hobby of collecting rocks is a risky move. It's kind of boring. That isn't the problem though. I think I watched two episodes, was bored to death, had no idea what was going on, and quit. Somehow the guy goes to another world or something. The main character lacks interesting characteristics. The plot loses you early on and it's kinda silly. Whether the characters or story was developed, I don't know. It wasn't worth watching that long. If you can't tell from its low rating, this is a failure. Don't bother watching it. |

GATE (2016)I haven't finished this one yet. Honestly, this series isn't consistent in terms of entertaining me. Sometimes it's interesting and other times I would rather play solitaire. It's more or less an anime that is sort of there. It's memorable, or at least the setting is, but it's not memorable because it's a powerful story or anything. |

Grimgar of Fantasy and AshIt's unclear whether the characters are stuck in a video game or if they were transported to another world, or what the circumstances are surrounding how they ended up in this strange world. It does have that stuck in a game vibe. I really liked it, but there are many who would disagree. Usually in such an anime, time skips like crazy, characters and plot are underdeveloped if not confusing, most of what is shown is random conflicts, and it just feels choppy. Normal day events have no place in these animes. That's why I rarely like them much. This one is the exception. The main reason I love it (and the reason many others hate it) is that it includes those slice of life moments. It includes scenes where the characters are having a chat, cooking, performing daily chores, worrying that their underwear will be in shreads before they can afford new ones, ahopping, feeding birds, etc. It includes the little things that help build the characters and story. However there are those who feel such scenes have no place in this genre. I also like how there are real consequences. The characters don't know they are in a game or whatever. They don't remember anything. As the audience, we don't know if their real bodies are in the game or somewhere else and whether what happens in this world has any effect of their body in the real world if there is one. When a character dies, they are dead. We actually know them. The other characters actually respond to it. People fear dying. As far as we know, that person no longer exists in any world. Basically, two things I hate most about this type of anime are fixed in Grimgar which is why I love it. |

Haven't You Heard? I'm SakamotoIn my book, an anime like this will never be more than average. It's a good average, but when you get down to it, there isn't much of a plot, and it isn't about much of anything. It's one of those random plain anime. On the other hand, it is enjoyable. I like to watch an episode here and there especially after watching a very tense anime. It's decently funny. It's like comic relief. |

Joker GameIt's episodic in a way and kind of bland. I am not up to date on the episodes. I sort of lost interest. It was different characters each episode and the nature of the characters made it hard to connect. |

Kabaneri of the Iron FortressAttack on Titan in the age of the industrial revolution is what it's been compared to/refered to. Instead of a single city/nation/whatever they called it surrounds by walls there are several cities surrounded by walls that serve as the only place safe for humans. Instead of giants it's zombies. These zombies enjoy overrunning the cities just as much as titans. The cities are connected by railroad tracks and use trains to get from one to the other. The main characters are a male and female and the female is the better fighter. I'm not sure I would say it's just as good or better than Attack on Titan. It is certainly worth watching though. I feel like the emotions and relationships were stronger in Attack on Titan, but Kabaneri hasn't finished yet so who knows. |

KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!Fairy Tail meets SAO meets a bunch of other similar anime. That is what this is. Well, at least as far as I watched it, which wasn't very far. Actually, minus the first episode or maybe the first two, it reminded me way to much of Fairy Tail with a little bit of every MMORPG anime ever. Can we just not. Like seriously. |

KuromukuroNaked guy. It's like Eden of the East. Naked guy lacking memory. Well, actually the similarities almost end there. This anime had potential...it really did. The first four episodes had me excited....then it continued..................The main female character is annoying. She's afraid of getting hurt and hurting others, doesn't want any responsibility, is weak and pretty much helpless, and just annoying. It's not cute people. It's annoying. If she was a real person I would slap her upside the head and throw her in a river. The story also gets a little out there after a while, but the main female is what really irks me. |

Luck & LogicAgain, another school anime where several young people fight monsters with special powers. At least one new anime like this seems to come out every season and we will probably never see a continuation. I liked the story and the concept wasn't bad. I liked the main character too. His teammates.....not so much. It was definitely going for the magical girl like feel with fanservice included making it a bit too cliche and cheesy. Still, it's worth a watch if you can ignore the small anoyances. |

Myriad Colors Phantom WorldHigh school kids fighting monsters with special abilities, it's not new. Personally, the only thing I liked about this anime was how it tied in psychology, sociology, and history at the beginning. The rest was a bit too ridiculous for me. Also, their abilities and the conflicts they deal with are often kind of silly. You won't miss much by skipping this one unless it's your thing. |

Norn9Don't bother. There is a reason it has a low rating. The characters and the plot don't really develop until the very end when a bunch of random stuff happens. The pacing is terrible. The plot is wishy washy. The characters could be a bit interesting but they aren't. This never should have been so short. It needed at least 24 episodes to develop. I know I bash short anime a lot but that's because some things really don't fit in short animes well. This is one of those. |

Prince of Stride: AlternativeIn my opinnion, sports animes main problem is it is very limited in terms of what you can do with it story wise. All sports anime end up being very similar because there are only but so many conflicts that can be utilized. That being said, it's up to the characters to make it interesting. In this case we have a made up sport that is basically track plus obstacle course plus some vaulting. The conflicts aren't that different from any other sport but I thought they did a good job with most of the characters and they didn't make it overly cheesy. It's certainly worth checking out, even if you aren't a big fan of sports anime. |

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo ShinjuuIt's kind of interesting, but to be honest, I didn't last through the entire anime. Because of it's topic, it's not very eventful. It has interesting moments, especially if you enjoy Japanese culture and stories, but I'm not sure it's the kind of anime that you can watch all at once, which is what I tried to do. It's mostly about a guy who gets on a stage and tells stories. It might be better not to watch all at once since it is a bit slow. |

Super LoversI love a good Shounen-ai. The first episode was promising and then the second and third not so much. It got back on it's feet though and so far it's enjoyable. I think it's cute but obviously this genre is limited to certain audiences so it may not be for everyone. |

Tanaka-kun is Always ListlessSomehow...this anime is interesting. It should be boring....like very boring. Nothing really happens. Like nothing. So why did I keep clicking next episode? Why didn't I want to turn it off??? It's mind boggling. It's boring and pointless and yet interesting......I don't understand.... |

The Lost VillageI'm a bit on the fence about this one. It began with an interesting idea and then it got a bit slow. The characters continued to have stupid arguments and not much else happened. However, as it continued the story began to unfold and was quite interesting. The ending was pretty good too. |

Twin Star ExorcistsIt had a somewhat interesting although common concept however, eventually the main character drove me nuts. I just felt extreemely embarassed and uncomfortable watching and listening to him. The whole thing felt awkward. Perhpas it was just me, but I finally quit watching after six episodes. Plus, it dragged things on for way too long. Nothing felt like it was moving forward and it didn't feel like the characters were developing much. It has the animation and concept to be a decent anime but the story falls short. Of course, if it doesn't make you feel as awkward then maybe it's not as bad. |

Undefeated Bahamut ChronicleOnce again, a guy in an all girls school that trains high school students to use some strange device to fight random battles while throwing in some fanservice and never feeling completely finished. Like most, it probably won't get a second season either. It's still pretty entertaining despite being a harem school anime. Sadly, instead of continuing with these types of anime till the story ends completely, they usually just make the first season and then next season is a different anime that is basically the same thing with different names. As a result, they all kind of feel the same and it feels a bit like you are watching the first part of the same story repetitively. That doesn't mean they can't be interesting. I enjoy quite a few. But you should know going into this anime that it's not going to be anything super unique. Although how the boy ends up in the school is a bit different..... How come we never have a girl in an all boys school? Now that would be different and entertaining. Kamigami no Asobi doesn't count btw. |

Utawarerumono: The False FacesI only watched about five episodes. I can't say much about it. I had been hoping for a continuation of the previous story but it has all new characters in a new story. It wasn't awful, but I have trouble getting interested in something when the characters are changed, especially if the main character changes. I rarely ever finish a story when it changes main characters. |

World TriggerThis anime didn't actually start in 2016 but I am including it anyways. I highly reccomend this anime. I thought the main picture for it was weird and thought the animation would be weird so I put it off for a long time, but it's actually pretty good. It utilizes a weak main character but he is actually strong in his own way. I haven't watched the last two episodes yet because I'm hesitant to find out how it ends, but I hope they plan on making more. One of the best things about it is it's so long and feels different from most other long animes. I WANT MORE! |

B-PROJECTI think it's great that they made an anime featuring male idols instead of female idols. I enjoyed watching a bit of it, but I'm not all that in to stories about idols. It's episodic and each episode focuses on an individual or group problem. There is a very simple lose plot and your normal characters. |

Cheer Boys!!Cheer Boys has it's share of cheesy moments. The characters struggle with normal problems that a new team faces. It actually reminded me a lot of my experiences on dance competition teams. I can't say this anime jumped out at me as spectacular. It's pretty average all in all, but it's still a good watch. |

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy- Future ArcWhile I don't think it's better than the first Danganronpa, it's still pretty good. You don't HAVE to play the games to understand it, but you should watch the Despair Arc first. Compared to the first anime and Despair Arc, Future Arc is darker (funny since theres the saying bright future and despair is usually a gloomy word). It's also the only Danganronpa anime with red blood. It follows Naegi and some of his former classmates as well as the other future foundation leaders, many of which are introduced in Despair Arc. Once again, the characters are thrown into a killing game, but the rules are different, and the Naegi is suspect number one. |

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy- Despair ArcThis turned out to be my least favorite of the three Danganronpas. They style is similar to the first series. The characters are wacky and the colors are bright. This arc shows how the Despair started and the events that led to the fight between Despair and the Future Foundation. It also explains a little bit of how Naegi and the other characters from the original anime eneded up locked in the school and why. I reccommend watching this if you plan to watch Future Arc since many of the events in Despair Arc lead directly to the events of Future Arc. |

First Love MonsterI only watched a little bit of this one. It's crazy. It's about a high school girl dating a fifth grader. However, this fifth grader is as tall as a high school boy and has the deeper voice of a high schooler but has the mentality of a 5 year old!! He has two friends who have the same chracteristics (the rest of the fifth graders are relatively normal). The whole thing is just weird. I sort of lost interest after five episodes though. |

OrangeA new boy transfers schools and makes friends with a small group right away. Then his mother dies. A string of unfortunate events leads to his unfortunate end...or at least it did. Years later, the group reunites and decides to write letters to their high school selves and send them back in time. They detail the events of the time they spent with the boy and what they want their high school selves to do differently to keep the boy from meeting that unfortunate end. The letters arrive. However, you can't change your personality with a letter. The individual personalities make it difficult to change their actions, even if they know they should. But is it really okay to try to change a future? Will it change the past of the future selves who wrote the letter? If you have ever watched steins;gate, some of the time travel theory discussed in this show is the same. It doesn't focus on time travel like steins;gate though. However, it comes into question a few times. |

Qualidea CodeIt's not my favorite but it wasn't bad either. The twist towards the end was interesting. It just depends on whether you are up for a world where children battle, run cities, and search for the truth. There isn't really a single main character. There are several. That sets it apart from similar anime as well as the twist. I would suggest watching to at least episode four or five to decide whether or not to keep watching. That's where it starts to get more interesting. |

ReLIFELoved it. I think young adults will enjoy this more than teens since young adults will be closer to the main characters age. It certainly made me wonder what going back to high school would be like. High school wasn't all that bad for me though. Elementary and middle school were my nightmares. Still, it certainly makes you wonder. I would love to see a second season. This was one of my favorites this year. |

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.Each episode is about five minutes long. The main character has psychic powers. The characters are sterotypical to make things simple. It's a fun comedy. I enjoy watching a couple episodes here and there. The only bad thing about it is sometimes the endings are really abrupt as if someone cut the video a little too short. |

You wrote the longest for Grimgar. This one caught me off guard. I stopped after episode 2, thinking it's going to be another one of those stuck in game world + lot so fan service. But after it ended, a heard the reviews were good, so I picked it up again. Those simple slice of life activities actually bring out a real aspect to each character. I like the one where they had a rest day. It was so simple, but so well done. Like we're all human with our own interests, but band together to kill goblins for a living, and then develop a bond amongst the team as if we're family. Loved it, left a lingering impression of bittersweetness. At the end, I forget the are in a different world, until the episode where they glaze up at the orange moon.
Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen is a continuation of the first series and does have many of the same characters. It mainly just takes place in a different country. The two girls in the inn/bar that run it are two of the generals from the first series. Kuon is the daughter of Hakuoro and the handicap sister of one of his generals, and that general now runs the country that Hakuoro created. So Kuon is the niece/princess of the kingdom from the first series. This should tell you several years have passed since that series. The new main character may not be the same guy but he has common origins so they are more or less connected. You do see several characters other than the two girls from the first series cropping up as well, and the same leader of the nation was alive and in charge when the first series occured.
I can atest and agree with a large majority of this list. Many of the reasonings for each anime and miniature synopses were spot on. I have a pretty good feeling that reLIFE will be a more enjoyable one for you, since our tastes in that anime genre seem the same(ish). I can't wait to read your opinions on the rest of the NAY animes and ongoing animes.
