I have a hard time saying anything about myself since honestly there really isn't that much interesting to say.
I very much like watching anime however, and try to get in as many interesting series as life can allow me. I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting things that stand outside what can dubiously be called the "mainstream" anime scene. Don't get me wrong, i'm not like some weird hipster that only watches anime with a fanbase of only 15 people or less. I just have a large range of taste, and finding that one golden nugget that more or less flys under the radar always hypes me up.

That being said, i'm always open to new recommendations from anyone. Perhapes the only thing I won't watch is ecchi, but even then if it has good writing and is in good taste, i'll give it a go.

I also love recommending anime, but untill I get up the courage to dive into the review tab it's probably best to just go by my rating system for recommendations.

It is important to note however, I am not a proffesional critic. So while my ratings take into account the qualty of an anime's story, animation, characters, ect, they are also heavily based on my own personal enjoyment of an anime.

Ratings are as follows:

One Star- Pretty much complete crap. I found absolutly nothing redemable about this show, and the likelyhood I was even able to make it past the first 3-4 episodes is low. You really have to work hard at being bad to earn this rating.

Two Stars- While some aspects of the anime may be enjoyable, it ultimately fails to live up to its potential. Entertainment value could be there for some people, but the anime suffers from a number of major flaws.

Three Stars- A pretty decent anime all around. There may be some flaws that make it less then perfect, but as far as entertainment value it's still a good watch.  May be worth checking out if it looks interesting.

Four Stars- A very good anime. Originality of story, quality animation and writing, I had an awesome time watching this. Held back from a five star due to a few minor issues and/or personal preference, I'd most likely still recommend this to almost anyone.

Five Stars- Essentially anime nirvana in my eyes. I absolutly adore this anime almost to the point of obsession. Almost zero fualts, and if there are any, my sheer enjoyment of the series completely overrided them. I try to give this rating out as little as possible, reserving it only for the best of the best.

So thats essentially it for now. Feel free to strike up a chat if you want, it's always fun to get to know new people people around here.
In the meantime just keep on doing your thing.
Peace

Popiposh says... Thanks for the kind words! I have trouble writing bio type things somtimes so I apreciate it. I find it funny, our ratings are actually pretty similar, albeit yours is a lot more detailed. But yeah, I just wanted something that was easy, and clearly set apart the outliers (1 & 5 stars, ie. horrid and fantastic). And besides, it's much easier to rate an anime based on enjoyment rather then trying to get all technical about animation quality or story and pacing and so on.

\r\n

Ultimately, to me that's what personal ratings are all about - our own personal enjoyment of the show.  The ratings, imo, should reflect that. Yes, technical details matter because they influence our feelings about a show, but for an assessment of the technical quality of a show, look to the reviews instead.  Reviews are better for that, because there is room to get explanatory.  Ratings are a snapshot, so, to me, a glimpse of what an anime means overall to the person doing the rating.  NOT an assessment of the show's quality level.

(And stop worrying about your bio - it's fine!  Interesting and fun to read, and that's all that's needed, right?)

I'm glad you -have- added some details, now, though. I enjoy reading them!

I look forward to reading your reviews when you get up the courage to write some.  (It took me FOREVER to post my first one!)

I like your rating system!  It's essential to me to have a rating system in place.  I used to have such a hard time of it (rating the things I watched), and often just settled for rating everything as 3-stars, meaning I neither loved nor hated it.  But then I created my current ratings system, and that makes it easy: I just see how the show made me feel and give it the corresponding rating from my system descriptions.  Now, I feel my ratings are much more consistent and meaningful!  Here is my system, if you want to take a look at it:  Sianeka's Rating System.
