Basically, folks who actually participated in the thread beyond sign-up, have logged onto the site this month (proving they are still active), and don't have an old 2020 message from NorthPole sitting in their comments reminding them the game exists and they need to actually make recs for their recipient.
Using the notification system last year turned out to be problematic due to the extremely large number of random folks who signed up and then vanished. It's not fair to the players, NorthPole, or the elf team. We're hoping for a better user experience this year.
Just a reminder that Secret Santa is back and sign-ups are still open if you want to play again this year! ^_^
