Her wits are insane, her tongue is razor-sharp and she just aware of everything.

When Hitagi makes her first proper appearance in Bakemonogatari you think she's going to kill the main protagonist but what she's actually doing is showing that she's scared of letting people get close to her. A few scenes later she bears it all. Walking around naked with a boy that she doesn't know at all. At that moments you've seen her at her most vulnerable and you've seen her at her weakest. Most characters would stagnate after that but Hitagi just keeps on growing and growing.

There has never been a character so direct in laying her whole soul out there and still managing to amaze you for another 80 or so episodes that follow after that.

If Haruko was the real thing, this world would be a fucked up place but a giant amusement park at the same time.

A really selfish character who just does what she wants. Keeps reaching for the stars even though it's unreachable.

The perfect embodiment of somebody who is supposed to represent adulthood but would rather be a teenager.

Devilish personality but mainly just an observer of life. Everything that comes out of his mouth is fascinating. When he feels that life is getting boring he'll figure out a way to kickstart some chaos.

I love how he can worry about really petty things at times which shows a more human side of him.

The most understanding girlfriend in anime and even though you want to pull your hair out when you first see it, you understand later on where it comes from. She's a very caring girl but tries to hide it behind a Tsundere act so she can keep people at a safe distance. Love her witty comments when she's with Sakuta.

Also, the way she's animated is pretty glorious, trying to be that classy ass bitch.

Faye is absolutely amazing. The perfect embodiment of a femme fatale. Seductive, mysterious and often finding herself in compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations.

I like the way they portrait her now and how she was in the past. It's a very interesting character development and one of the few times where I don't mind the 'I forgot my past' concept.

I hate the 8000-year-old loli concept in most shows but Shinobu is literally the only exception.

An ancient vampire who lurks in the shadows of her master and I'd almost dare to say that her take on vampirism might be one of the very best ones out there.

Shinobu is the only adult that is allowed to pull off the little girl act even though she's 800 years old. She's cute when she's walking around in her little kid form, she's glamorous when she's a teenager, delicate when she's a young adult and fierce when she's a mature woman.

Shinobu has a lot of different sides to her, all of them are amazingly well-executed.

Protective, caring and extremely level-headed. The way she tries to be there for Simon eventhough she's dealing with the same pain is admirable. Always shows up at the right time.

Yoko is just a badass through out the entire show, she's given the opportunity to fall in love twice and still doesn't get the happy ending she deserves but she's still there to support her friend till the very end.

This young lady is one tough cookie.

No bullshit attutide, even gives god and his sons an earfull if she disagrees with them... Lets be real, that takes balls. 

The stoic and socially awkward elf who is extremely loyal to the people who put faith in her and she'll always be there for those people when there is trouble lurking. She works as a waitress but is really a skilled adventurer with a huge bounty on her head.

Stoic but is starting to show emotions, thanks to Syr and Bell. Her interactions with Syr are like those of a younger sister trying to protect her older sister while the older sister flirts with the idea to see what the younger sister would do to her devious games. Bell, however, makes her feel like a woman, which is something she doesn't quite know how to handle since all she's been known for is an adventurer.

One of the most badass looking characters in anime. For somebody who can’t say a thing, she does a pretty damn impressing job in getting her message across through text messages and the use of her body language.

The character concept itself is already impressive without the helmet but that helmet adds a whole new layer of mystery to Celty.

She's a bit of an odd character but that's what makes her so interesting. The bisexual tomboy that likes to mess with the boyfriend of the girl she's fallen for.

Loves reading male-male erotica, is a bit of a masochist and a bit of a voyeur. Let's us be honest, we all wish we'd have a friend like Kanbaru.

Kanbaru is one of those characters that goes through a roller coaster of emotions but you'll know she'll always get on top of things because she just doesn't know how to give up.

Syr is a girl filled with mystery, and she always seems to have an answer for everything.

She seems to always have a good understanding of her surroundings, and she always knows exactly how to make things work in her favour. There is a really charming and devious cockiness to her. 

Syr is always in the middle of everything and her biggest secrets have yet to be revealed, but it's obvious that it'll have a huge impact on the Danmachi universe.

Probably one of the more underrated characters on this list. She brought a certain element of humor to a show that was already quite established.

She acts like a tough emotionless male character but when she ends up in an awkward situation she just becomes the most fragile woman on the planet.

It's neat to see her experience all these emotions on the screen that she doesn't understand.

I'm willing to say the most awesome blushes in anime.

The most interesting character that Evangelion has to offer but she'll always be in the shadows of Shinji, Asuka and Rei. She struggles to play the concerning motherly role to Shinji (doing as really poor job) but does manage to run a military organization called NERV while drinking her own insecurities away behind closed doors. She can relate to Shinji because she's experienced it all herself but struggles with the idea of what to do to really help since nobody was there for her when she needed it, hence why she's still struggling with those same insecurities herself.

I feel I relate to Haruno a little bit too much and I think a lot of people don't really understand what's going on with her. She comes across as a crazy lady with no conscience and that she's trying to push her own agenda but there is a lot more to it.

She puts on a goofy mask to make people think she's having a good time but she's always observing everybody and everything around her.

'It's impossible for me to get drunk'

She gives her sister a lot of tough love but she mainly does this because she wants her sister to make the right choices and to follow a path that leads her to happiness.

Adopted brothers and sisters? She doesn't care, she'll die for them to make sure they stay safe. Just a gentle soul who just wants everybody to be happy.

Also, her character design is absolutely magical., the red scarf just stands out so much against her short brown hair and her navy blue uniform.

Female mister T. A total gunslinging and foulmouthed badass!

Fuck this guy, fuck that guy, fuck those guys... No Stockings on the list because everybody knows that Panty is where the party is at!

Want me to fight 6 billion people? No problem! You want me to do it in a skimpy outfit? Sure... whatever!

She just doesn't give a shit! Another character that acts first and talks later. If you're in her way, she'll just flatten you!

The wise man that acts as a guide to help the people in need. He gives you the knowledge but wants you to handle your issues by yourself. The embodiment of cool, calm and collected.

It’s a real shame that they replaced him in the show with Izuko Gaen, I do still like Izuko Gaen but this is one of the only times I wish a male character wasn’t replaced by a female one.

He'll play dirty if he needs to. the way he managed to get a hold of Shinobu's heart was pretty impressive.

Hate to admit it but I see a lot of myself in this crazy girl. I never really took the time to think of what others around me really wanted because I was too busy trying to have as much fun as I could.

Dorohedoro has some great characters and it's tough to pick a favorite since all the characters bring something unique to the table. There are three characters (Noi, Nikaido, and Shin) in the running for a spot on the list but I'm going for Nikaido. Shin and Noi are probably the coolest partnership you'll find in anime but Nikaido is just the best friend personified.

The journey we're taken on starts off with us really disliking him but the more we find out about him and the more invested we get. His relationship with Thorfinn is a fascinating one as well, becoming a mentor to the person who hates you the most.

The man comes across as one of the greatest villains ever created but he's just a big old softy. The meme of Kaiki being the best girl in the Monogatari series is a valid opinion. His interactions with Hitagi are absolutely amazing.

Just like Yuri Shibasawa from the same manga, Boy's Abyss, Yuko seems like an innocent and caring woman when we are first introduced to her, but it doesn't take long before she'll start making your blood boil. The queen of manipulation. I love great villains, and the Boy's Abyss has a few of the very best. 

Chiri is the highschool queen of horror. Not only is she extremely violent but she's also a perfectionist. A lethal combination.

Hermes acts as if he's doing everything out of goodwill but there is always an ulterior motive.

He's constantly playing chess with the people around him so you never really know who he has aligned himself with.

His second in command, Asfi, knows he's always up to no good but doesn't know to what extent and questions him all the time but she will play along in his little schemes. The biggest trouble maker.

Wonder Egg Priority is an amazing show with an excellent cast. Every character deserves to be on this list, but there is one character that really stands out, and that's Rika. Rika starts out rather obnoxious, basically inviting herself to everything, and almost demanding people to support her obnoxious behaviour but as the show progresses, she becomes a character you want to cheer for.

This character came out of the left field for me. A very goofy but lovable character that reminds me of a more realistic Haruko from FLCL. The girl everybody can get along with easily and everybody would fall for but she's just too focussed on doing her own thing.

One of the most mysterious characters out there, I really like her bug-like mannerisms and the brutal but honest way to get her point across. She doesn't spoon-fed you the knowledge, she makes you aware of how real shit gets. Her whole concept is just amazing.

Kokoro Connect has some neat characters but out of that group I feel Inaba brings the most to the table. Just like Senjoughara from the Monogatari series she falls under the fake-tsundere-archetype because they either want to protect what they already have or are too ashamed to open up about what really troubles them by acting rather cold and rutheless.

She's a great villain, a character that makes your blood boil. The outcast girl who blames Shouko for the change it sparked in her relationship with Shoya. She gives it to you straight and she sticks to her guns.

It's easy to just label her as just the brute of the show, but it's clear that there is more to her. Brutal appearance, like a rough diamond, but incredibly precise. The most loyal and caringcharacter on Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation.

No matter what Shin does, you'll always be rooting for him. This man is an absolute machine. He'll keep going forward, putting his friends and family first no matter what.

She comes across as an extremely strong and direct character who doesn't take shit from anybody but there is a certain insecurity to her that makes her a very interesting and complex character. Even though she hates to admit it, she has a lot of appreciation for her friends.

She also knows she's second-best in the race for her love interest but that doesn't stop her from trying. She does really enjoy giving Eriri a hard time.

She's also quite aware that's she's been blessed with some curves and she knows how to use them. Also really like how she's been trying to manipulate Tomo into picking an ending for her novel because she wants the ending he will find most enjoyable.

Simply put, a deviant trickster!

Even though she doesn't look like it, she's an amazing 'villain'. There aren't many characters or moments that have made me go 'Oh shit!' but she's done it several times.

Acts first and thinks later but doesn't have a bad bone in his body. His interactions with Vorona are unique and refreshing. His rivalry with Izaya can be quite comical at times but their fight scenes are truly impressively animated.

Another side-character that outshines the main cast quite often. Every time the show hits a bump and struggles to move along, she'll make an appearance and comes in with some solid life lessons. 

Her role on the show is to act as a guide to 3 teenagers who are struggling to emotionally express themselves. 

For some reason, they've made her an amazing matchmaker but at the same time have left her unmarried herself.

There is a cool mysterious element to her due to her eyes being hidden behind her bangs. Both her boyfriend and we (the viewers) don't always know what's going on with her, making her actions rather unpredictable. 

The wealthy and somewhat sheltered model who is obsessed with the understanding of things in motion and then trying to express what she loves through animation.

Quite a complicated character, even though she'll mainly be remembered for her Tsundere behavior. The self-doubting girl who constantly struggles with the pressure she puts on herself. She had it all but threw it all away and is now trying her very best to rebuild it all.

Demon Slayer does a few things really well and a few things really badly in my opinion. Most of the character designs are obnoxious but the show offers an almost perfect ruthless villain with Muzan. Most shows struggle to make a villain really feel like a villain and they give these characters sympathetic traits. I don't know too much about Muxzan's backstory and I do think Demon Slayer will do an excellent job in making us care for Muzan's backstory but at the moment he's just the perfect embodiment of pure evil

There is no other character like her. Most people hate her for how full of herself she is when we're introduced to her but you do feel for her when she starts to implode and everything goes to shit. From hero to zero in an absolutely fascinating way...

The teacher who gets to relive her life through the eyes of her students. Ashamed at first but then can't stop thinking and talking about it. Forced by society to blend in and act mature but still has that playful side of her that's ready to jump out.

Where most of the show mocks Japanese society, Fuura mocks the mockers. The ultimate troll. She comes across as the goof ball that doesn't know what's going on, but she's always one step ahead of everybody.

A sweet girl that was heavily mistreated but became an emotionless killing machine. Gave up everything she had to get a second chance in order to get what she wanted. Fucked in the head? Sure... but we cool. You know you want this kinda crazy on your team.

Simply put, the David Bowie of anime.

Rent-a-girlfriend as a rather awkward show with a lot of extremely eccentric characters. The show doesn't take itself seriously most of the time but when Mizuhara doesn't have to share the space with other girls the tone of the series changes dramatically.

Mizuhara is a rather relatable character who struggles to open up and doesn't think her feelings matter to anybody which results in her putting on an act, the one of a strong, independent and happy girl.

Super smart, extremely mischievous but also very caring. She's so confident around the people she likes and just doesn't really care too much about what others think of her. Every second that this character is on the screen is a joy to watch.

An odd cat that feels really out of place in the beginning, but then clearly starts to grow on you.
