My top 80 animes

These are my top 80 animes ( for now anyway ;-P ) So this list contains all my favorite animes, from the childhood favorites to the feel goods/most enjoyable and the ones that i just really liked because of various factors :) also second seasons or special episodes of a series count as the same thing for me, so this is a top 80 but as I added some of those the number is a good bit off... x) This list may be prone to updates as there is still so many animes that I have yet to discover and love but, for now these are my 80 chosen ones... muhahaha
1 Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren't They?

Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren't They?

I really loved this show's premise though it's not perfect the characters and world are really cool and I really wish there was more than one season. the story managed to stay fun and interesting and I just really had a blast when watching this I know they are lots of far better animes out there yet this one still managed to peek in my top because I found it so damn enjoyable for some reason so yeah there it is at my number one spot sorry for failing to describe it any better but if you haven't watched it yet just GO AND WATCH IT! I really think it's worth it, free for you to disagree but personally, I LOVE IT!

2 Black Butler

Black Butler

Now I know my reasons for liking this are probably very different to the reasons it's intended fanbase like it... I got riled in by the mix of dark and lighthearted comedy this show has, the well researched and detailed rendition of victorian England and the very interesting premise and story. Not the pretty boys and sebastian x ciel stuff so many fangirls obsess over... I know that's part of what it's meant to be about as it targets that kind of audience but i wish there were a bit more strong female characters in there for it to be more balanced but I know that will never happen and regardless this is still a very entertaining show with very good characters, that was really well written and researched by it's initial writer (I know the show goes off from that unfortunately however, in the first season it's not too bad but the 2nd season on the other hand was disgraceful in comparison... Thankfully they made other entries that followed the manga more closely later on with book of circus and book of murder and I hope they continue that trend because this series is definitely worth it..)

PS: No, season 2 isn't in this list. It's the only exception to my inclusion of sequels and certain Ovas. Because to be honest, It's pretty much all filler with an otherwise pretty mediocre plot, that's just all over the place....  With two new characters that are basically shittier (and more annoying) copies of the original duo, + some other completely forgattable ones that are absoultely useless for the most part... Feel free to give it at a try for yourself though but honestly you're not missing much if you decide to skip it... Honestly I even encourage it. Save yourself some time x)

5 Inu x Boku Secret Service

Inu x Boku Secret Service

I really love this show its cute, funny, psychological filled with Japanese folklore and a very nice premise and love story. Its take is very different to those of most shows which I think makes me love it even more for it. I get a light happy feeling every time I watch it which is why it is by far one of my favorite shows of all time

6 Inu X Boku Secret Service Special

7 Maid-sama!

I remember the first time I watched this show, every episode left me in a great mood with a heartwarming happy feeling yearning for more of this lovely little anime. I never expected it to be so good and boy was I pleasantly surprised by this adorable and funny little romance show that I finished in record time... I remember this show as the anime that made me smile when I really wasn't feeling like it and that filled my days with warmth for the times I was watching it... I really love this show it's funny and sweet and just a real ray of sunshine in my opinion and you should really watch it! :)

8 Shaman King

Shaman King

I was hooked on this when I was younger second big childhood favourite after Cardcaptor sakura such a shame it was never finished... I know I really should pick up the manga and read it because I love this show so much I know I'd definitely enjoy reading manga till the end too.

9 Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura

Big childhood favourite, still love it to this day, in my opinion, it's one of the best kid-oriented shows out there.

10 Pandora Hearts

Pandora Hearts

I really liked the universe of this anime and the story though incomplete is really compelling I also love the Alice in wonderland inspiration though this show really does have its own universe which is awesome! This show also has a lot of lovable characters and a good soundtrack that compliments it very nicely. This anime really managed to draw me in and every character and new plot twist had me interested and wanting to know more. I'm not one that usually has much interest in reading manga but this show really left me wanting to pick up the manga from which it is based on and read it to continue the story and find out more... anyway if you enjoy mystery and fantasy give this show a go!

11 Angel Beats!

Angel Beats!

The feels...... Great story and characters, really love this show its definitely worth a watch though I would recommend maybe having a packet of tissues next to you when you reach the end...

12 Terror in Resonance

Terror in Resonance

Very powerful, magnificently done... This show is flawless.  I mean a part of me wishes it didn't end the way it did but at the same time that ending was perfect,  so heavy heartily I have to bow to its excellence. I mean seriously just watch it!  Its unlike anything I've ever seen,  it has its own ambiance and style with superb storytelling and visuals, along with a great score that adds so much to this already brilliant show, I have no words, it's just something else... But if there's one thing that I am sure of, is that it's bloody fantastic and that is all.

13 Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket

early teen favourite remember watching this with my mum several times, very interesting and sweet story with really likeable characters worth a watch :)

14 Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You

Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You

Such a sweet love story... This anime is just so cute! If you're a fan of romantic shows this is a must!

15 Kimi ni Todoke - From Me To You 2nd Season

16 Magic Knight Rayearth

Magic Knight Rayearth

Early teens favourite, also watched this with my mum,  Really good story and characters, can get quite sad and tough at times, but strength of character always prevails! This is a forgotten classic in my opinion.

17 Touhou Gensou Mangekyou: The Memories of Phantasm

Touhou Gensou Mangekyou: The Memories of Phantasm

I'm huge Touhou fan (in case you couldn't tell from my profile pic and cover) and I really love this rendition of the series I wish it was longer and more than a fan made series... I really want Touhou to be turned into a full blown anime but until then this mini-series is awesome... but this entry is kind of an extra as I want to have it here but at the same time I don't necessarily count it with all the others which is why it appears a lot lower on this list it's still in top 20 though but I like to count it as a + 1 but don't want to leave it at bottom of list either because I do really love it but don't want it too high like before either because I feel like I should leave top spots to other full anime that I really liked not just because I loved what their based off of or because I love the Touhou universe and the stories behind the games and characters anyway but at the same time this is such a beautiful homage to all of that, that though it's an incomplete fanmade series it deserve a spot here since this site enables me to pick it as an option.

18 Maria the Virgin Witch

Maria the Virgin Witch

Don't let the name dissuade you, this anime is actually alot more serious than you'd think... Of course it also has its goofy moments but they are very well balanced in with the more serious plot points. I loved this anime because it tackles certain things that aren't really tackled very often... Maria is a 'good' witch that hates war and fighting in general and just wants to prevent everyone from killing each other whenever she can. Pretty basic stuff for a main 'hero' character except in this anime people actually hate her for it... Her good peace loving nature is the source of all of her problems which obviously seems wrong right? Which leads me to the second point that makes me really like this show. The realistic take on human nature... They are other Witches in this show, though for the most part they are merely bystanders. The main antagonists are actually humans and their twisted views and flaws... There's also the angels/God that oppose her which is also a very smart take on the whole heaven/humans and then where supernatural beings like witches fit into that and how religion could negatively impact some people especially in medieval France with the rise of the inquisition and all the horrible stuff that it caused... They tackle medieval France with great historical accuracy too which is always a plus. This show made me smile, laugh, annoyed (as I recognised traits and views that I hate in us people) bit sad but mostly really content as I would be someone that shares similar ideals as Maria, seeing it tackled in such a realistic light was a very nice surprise. Anyway I really highly recommend this one if you like comedy blended in with very serious and sometimes also psychological topics in a historical setting, you will love this one. And if that seems like to specific of a category well just watch it and make up your own one ;)

19 Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Really liked this, story was really interesting,  the feels at the end though... I just really enjoyed this show,  really liked its atmosphere and overall story so yeah :)

20 Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom

This show is one of the more popular ones on this list and in my opinion its popularity is well deserved. I love it. It very skillfully blends humor and some more serious thematics and can be really inspirational at times. Some episodes are all fun and lightheartedness while others are emotional and surprising, some are a blend of both and some among other things. It has great character development mixed in with some good life lessons and a good few laughs. Its a really quirky show that stands as it's own thing in theory the premiss sounds really dumb but in actuality it's very skillfully made. This is a show that I'm really quick to recommend because its so easy and enjoyable to watch and really well worth it.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

I recently started reading manga and this is one of the series that I started reading and just around that time this anime adaptation was anounced which made me happy because even if I only had read one volume of this manga at the time, I knew it'd make a great anime and it did! :)

This is a really fun series, it's quite unique as well compared to what you usually see in rom/com animes and it just works so damn well! The characters are all really quircky and likable & the humour is on point. It really is skillfully written and highly enjoyable so If you haven't had a chance to yet, do check it out! One episode should be enough to figure out if you will enjoy it. :)

If you have watched this already and liked it. I also really recommend the manga because obviously alot of shinanigans were cut out of the anime, and so if you like this, I'm sure you'd be glad to see even more of them xD Besides it's VERY light reading, so even if you're usually put off by reading, you can definitely get through this manga no bother, because while there is an overarching plotline it is mostly small "skit" after small "skit" much like the anime, though the anime mostly focused on the main "skits" that advanced the plot in some way or were important to the evolution of the characters, understandably leaving out most of the more minor ones which are equally fun and amusing though, It's just more of them being overly analytical and prideful in every situation leading to constant failure for both sides which is suprisingly always fun to read/watch (+ few "skits" involving minor characters ). So if you enjoyed this anime you'll enjoy the extra scenes that the manga has to offer for sure. This series is just really fun and, while it may seem like it would get repetive fast, it somehow works everytime, because even if you have an understanding of how things are going to go in the end, it will still keeps you entertained and even manages to suprise you in some small ways alot of the time. It's honestly kinda amazing how the author manages to keep such a basic premise fresh and entertaining the way this show/manga does.

So yeah, if you haven't watched this already atleast try checking out the first episode to see how you like it. And, if you liked the anime and felt like you wanted more or just really like their interactions and the humour go read the manga, you won't be dissapointed! :)

40 Riddle Story of Devil

Riddle Story of Devil

I loved this flawed show for everything except it's two main characters... xD Found it really enjoyable to watch even if the plot is quite rushed and really awkwardly written + I liked most of the other characters even with just the the episodic exposition. It's nothing groundbreaking but yet, I still found myself really enjoying it somehow even with it's many problems. Can't really explain why but anyway that's why it's ranking so high on my list. Actually, no wait, I haven't talked about the music yet! The music is awesome, I loved the way each different character has her own theme/personalized ed song and the op is also really cool :) Again, I won't  deny that this show has many flaws and that it is in no way a masterpiece but regardless, I still found it quite enjoyable to watch and again the individual character songs are just awesome! Now I know it must seem odd that I ranked this show so high on my list when I'm mostly praising the ending credit songs but hey like this show nothing's perfect =P

Did I miss something or does this list lack Neon Genesis Evangelion?  Not to mention FMA: Brotherhood (and this comes from a person who believes it to be slightly overrated).  Oh, you simply haven't watched them yet?  Yes, that is the only explanation.
