Feudal Japan. Two ninja clans fight eachothers, seeking to destroy their enemies. As often in similar series, the ninjas all got strong magical abilities that aren't really something that "real" ninjas had. There is also some love between the heirs to the clans, complicating things for the couple.

This is a alternative history of what occured in a slightly modified world during the beginning of the world wars, when Germany started invading their neighbouring countries et cetera. In this anime, unlike reality, there exists magic and a witch that alters the historical events. Futhermore I'm unaware wheter the duchy mentioned actually exists, but I doubt it. (However I could be wrong.)

This is an alternate history about what happens around the year 1931 in Japan and China, the Manchurian incident and stuff. It's about some people with superpowers trying to change the history or preventing it from being changed.

A ronin in feudal Japan who is the best swordsman in the country. He doesn't care for many things besides himself, but get dragged into the conflict of the two clans fighting for power.

A man fires someone as part of his job, he is pushed in front of a train, and time stops. A being, "god", speaks with him. He defies this being, calling it "Being X" and is thus sent to a parralell universe, at the year 1913. There he find himself in the body of a newly born girl, Tanya, and here his/her story begins. Around the age of nine or ten Tanya joins the military of the nation he/she lives in, The Reich. (Basically Germany with a strong military before the two world wars.) Tanya has a aptitude for magic (the armies of the different sides of the conflict in the series are basically made up of the units used during the world wars with the addition of battle mages) and since Tanya is also a higly skilled soldier Tanya soon start climbing the ranks, making a career in the military. The wars break out and our sadistical, psycophatic and sociophatic Tanya soon find herself/himself in the middle of it, leading a men into battle. A great anime and you need to experience it to fully appreciate it. Many say you need to see the 2 first episodes before you judge it.

This is most of the anime a story about a mans life, and what occured during it. It's also having "rakugo", a kind of storytelling, as a central part of it. It may not exactly be a story that changes history that much, but it is a story told in a historic setting. A older man telling his life story, and we get to follow him during the events of his life. It is also tied together with a story based around "today", however the core of the anime is when we hear what transpired in the past. That said, it seems like there may come a second season at the end of it, and if so it's likely that it will focus on the present rather than the past, and thus that part of it won't be suited for this list.

A guy get sent back to feudal Japan. All famous leaders turns out to be women.

It is loosely based on the french stories/history about Jeanne d'Arc.
