I love anime and I feel that it's so much better than anything that's on tv right now. I'm constantly looking for a good story and anime always delivers. Sometimes I want something dark and terrifying, while other times I'll look for something action packed. Anime also reflects me, whether I feel like Light Yagami or Natsu Dragneel.

Neskreudn says... Don't worry about not responding in an instant. I'm not on all the time and have other things to do. I actually like the way that some anime have a non-conclusive ending. It lets people think and believe what they choose. It's an excellent way to appease the majority of viewers. I personally have my own view to the ending. I think that's why I'm so compelled to hear the thoughts of other people.

Anyway, I just finished watching K. I must say that I loved it and I'm glad that there's a movie sequel and then a series being made as a sequel to the movie. I highly recommend it if you haven't watched it yet.

\r\n

Well, thank you for your thoughts about DTB.

\r\n

As already stated, I'm not really a fan of the open-ended ending. But since a majority of anime have these, I've come to expect them.  In some cases, it works, as a more ambiguous end is the right fit for the story.  I think vagueness worked for DTB, even though I would've preferred it otherwise.  At least in DTB's case, it kind of fit with the fact that so little else was known about Gates and the nature of Contractors, etc.

\r\n

In general, though, I don't want to have to write my own ending. I'm watching anime to be entertained and to be told a story. To be introduced to new characters and new worlds.  If I wanted to write my own novel, I wouldn't be watching anime instead. So my anime story shouldn't force me to write out my own ending to the story!!!

Not familiar with K anime - gotta go check it out! Premise seems interesting - I've added it to my Want to Watch list so I don't forget about it.

Neskreudn says... I've got a question for you. What's your opinion on the ending of darker than black 2? I just finished it and found myself looking for many answers. Especially if there will be a part 3. Get back to me when you can.

I am soooo sorry for the late response replying back to your last comment to me.  I just got a new laptop (my first!) as an early birthday present - my birthday's not until July - and I've been busy playing with it - setup, getting all my programs loaded onto it, learning the new operating system (Win 8) plus had some RL time constraints and with everything happening, I just haven't been on a-p as much as usual and not responding to my comments as quickly as I usually do. :(

\r\n

My bad, totally.

\r\n

Cause I love my comment conversations!  Am so very sorry I've neglected them for this past week, and especially sorry I hadn't gotten back to you sooner.

DTB series is confusing and there is lots of controversy. The ending was typical Japanese in that it was ambiguous and left a lot open to interpretation. (I believe that vagueness is a prototypical Japanese/Asian trait, whereas in general,  westerners/Americans tend to prefer more concrete resolutons to their stories.)

\r\n

Being a more typical Westerner/American, I'd've prefered a better ending with more solutions stated.  However, I realize that I'm watching ANIME which was originally geared towards Asians and Asian sensibilities.  So often, I am left accepting the incomplete ending of an anime as it stands and making my own internal story up to have it all make sense...

\r\n

DTB was such a title.  It kinda sorta makes sense in my mind, as I envision and ended the story, and I enjoyed the series.  I don't think there will be a Season 3 (full season follow up)  since it takes so very long for series titles to get licensed and produced ... and I'm not sure this was blockbuster enough financially and popularity-wise to have sponsors pay up to get another Season done.  Too bad for us.
