Aggretsuko 3

Sep 14, 2020

After two seasons of good content from Aggretsuko, I wasn't sure how it could get better but it did.

The plot is a little hard to predict, and that's a good thing. Retsuko goes through yet another series of crazy events, this time, with the possibility of her singing getting the spotlight. The season is less about Retsuko's office life compared to season 1, still less about Retsuko's love life compared to season 2, and instead we see more of Retsuko trying to be self-independent, self-assured, self-confident, and it's all so relatable.

I think what made me most impressed about it is that it breaks down about the difficulties of figuring out your dream in the first place. Sometimes, it's hard and a little depressing when you don't know what to do. And so you feel like just having a dream - any dream, even someone else's - and the earnest pursuit of it is all that you need to make your quality of life better. But that's not how dreams work, you have to enjoy the process of figuring it out, and so it's good to see Retsuko understand that a little bit more.

Lastly, and more importantly, I didn't expect such quality development with Haida :)

Overall, I think this is a very satisfying third season to the series, and I hope to look forward to a fourth season with highlights between Haida and Retsuko? Haha, we'll see.
