By the way while I'm still here and for the sake of some irrationnal HYPE I didn't participate yet, here is my contribution : Eren Jaeger might breach the top 5 if his character resolution is a success. Two scans remaining to see this writing achievement turned into fruit or not.

Yeah it's planned. Heard back that 20th century boys was the author second magnum opus, with this "Friend" on par with Liebert? Promising.

It's been a while since I've updated this. I'll take care of it again though. So :
-Wolfgang grimmer > By retrospect, he should be ranked higher indeed
-Emiya > My knowledge about his character is only limited to anime content then rather shallow since I didn't play the Visual Novel where he's shining apparently.
-Kaneki > About his case... I finished the manga when it reached its end back then. Kaneki had a huge potential (and would have peacked when the 7 personnalities thing was presented) but was wasted in the end by the author rushing his story by boredom, then butchering Kaneki in the process. His final characterisation is nonsensical in regards to his life and the premise of its foreshadowed demise (if I recall correctly, check the first scan again, where he told us he would fit into the "tragic character" territory if he was a fictionnal character himself)
-FMA > still not watched yet.
-Magi > Not interested
-Durara > Not interested
-Aizen > He could fit inside yeah... I was annoyed by how he was stopped but as for a shonen vilain character, he's good. Maybe I will check the video since I will never re-read Bleach.
-Pain > Simple. Everything he tried to convey and the ideology he wanted to push forward : butchered. Why? By being "talked-no-jutsu", probably one of the worst example in case of bad writing, a dire conflict resolved by superficial talking, taking out his motivation in a nick of time and forcing him to bring an asspull, resurrecting every dead. Itachi was saved by the author's overall poor writing skills. We could call him an "accident", a good one.
-One piece > Currently reading it (almost at whole cake island atm) ! And yes Doflamingo will be add along with Edward Newgate and Kaido probably (Blackbeard too when/if he's more developpped later)
