Mischievus

This is an odd one. This show came up in discussion of some other series (Romance/Drama ones), and I went in with high expectations. I was immediately disappointed. However, I stuck it out, and I'm glad I did. I didn't truly start enjoying this show until episode 5. I nearly quit at the end of episode 4. It just wasn't for me. Then episode 5 was intriguing (and amusing), and it got even better from there. The character development and drama stuff really carries the show and is what makes it good in the latter half. Wish they'd gone that way from the start.

Anyway, this show is heavy on the ecchi tag, but at least they give an almost-practical reason for it. Also, it doesn't have the Harem tag on this site, but it totally is a harem anime in my opinion. Only, it's a bit less annoying than most on the harem aspect (no judgement for fans of that genre, it's just not for me).

No spoilers, but the ending was mildly satisfying while also leaving me wanting more. I hate nothing more than a good anime that ends on a cliffhanger or just ends mid-story with no conclusion. Really hate that. This show did things decently on that front. Apparently the light novels go a lot further (just ended this year), but out of 14, only 7 have been translated to English thus far (in July of 2020). Might read them once it is fully published. The show did what any author of Light Novels wants their anime to do: Make the viewer want to seek out the source material. In that way, this show is a success. I really like the characters, and I want more from them.
