95 Comedy Anime Worth Checking Out!

The top part of the list includes anime that are focused mainly on comedy, and the bottom part involves anime that include comedy, but don't have it as the main focus. It's alphabetical, so the split should be easy to see! I tried to include a lot of different types of anime to appeal to as many people as possible, hope you enjoy!
1 Acchi Kocchi

Acchi Kocchi

Sweet, innocent RomCom that I found really relaxing to watch. Cute characters and scenarios and slow developments make for a great Slice of Life!

2 Aho-Girl

Very fast paced short episodes with some great and some just ridiculous gags based around the life of a stupid girl and her annoyed childhood friend. You'll probably be able to decide if you'll like the humour within the first couple of minutes.

3 Amagi Brilliant Park

Amagi Brilliant Park

4 Assassination Classroom TV

Assassination Classroom TV

5 Barakamon

One of my current top 20 anime, I would thoroughly recommend this if you're a fan of Slice of Life and Country anime. Also touching childcare stories like Usagi Drop. The characters really shine in this anime and I'm sure you'll find a new character you'll like, if not multiple!

6 Blend S

Blend S

Was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this when I picked it up. The characters are great and work so well together. If you like shows like Working!, Gabriel Dropout, GJ-bu and New Game!, it gives a similar vibe. I'd give it at least a couple of episodes since it took me that long to really get into it.

7 Blood Lad

Blood Lad

8 Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan

I can't recommend this for everyone as it has very violent and sexual themes, but if you want a comedy that's just plain stupid and doesn't seem to care, then you'll find it funny! You should be able to tell whether or not you're interested just from the synopsis, and it's only 8 total episodes.

9 Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends

10 Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!

I'm sure if you're familiar with anime you'll know about this show and what it involves. If you want an anime where the premise is based around a girl wanting to believe she's in a made up world and how it influences her feelings and those around her, then it's a pretty well made anime and I would recommend! The characters are all cute and there's a decent romance/story to go along with it.

11 Daily Lives of High School Boys

Daily Lives of High School Boys

Another of my favourite anime, this is a great watch if you just want to essentially see a clip show of funny moments. It requires no focus and there's no continuation so you can easily watch it at any pace. If you like Slice of Life comedy like Nichijou then I'd imagine you'd like this. Jokes never failed to make me laugh and from a pure comedy standpoint I can't recommend this enough!

12 Danchigai

I'm not sure why this gets so much hate, it's just a fun quick watch with episodes being very short, although nothing special. The characters are likable and cute too!

13 D-Frag!

14 Engaged to the Unidentified

15 Eromanga Sensei

Eromanga Sensei

It's that anime, if you're interested by the concept at all then you'd probably enjoy it. They somehow made an even 'worse' oreimo and I'm ashamed to admit I enjoyed it at parts, although they definitely went too far at some points in terms of ecchi if that turns you off.

17 Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma

18 Gabriel Dropout

Gabriel Dropout

I feel like this anime doesn't get enough other than the Satania memes, but it definitely deserves it. Great characters, visuals and emotion provided me with a great watch. One of those episodic gag like anime like Yuru Yuri or GJ-bu, so if you like them you'll probably love this!

19 Ghost Stories

Ghost Stories

It should be pointed out that the only reason I class this as a comedy is because of how ridiculous the English dub of it is, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. If you want to watch this as a comedy, look up the English dub and just be amazed at what they got away with!

20 Gintama (2015)

Gintama (2015)

The gintama series in general is great if you love comedy and would definitely recommend it. I know I was put off by the amount of episodes, but just watch at your own pace whenever you feel like it and it becomes much more enjoyable! Great gags, characters and setting.

21 GJ-bu

An anime based completely around what happens inside of the GJ-club, not much goes on. However if you like relaxing to comedies with not much of a story then I found the characters to be some of the cutest/most likeable and the jokes to be quite funny. There's even some romance elements, although it hardly takes over the anime.

22 Haiyore! Nyaruko-san

23 Handa-kun

24 The Devil is a Part-Timer!

25 HENNEKO - The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat

HENNEKO - The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat

26 Hinamatsuri

I feel like the amount of good comedy anime has slowly decreased recently, but this gem resparked my interest in the genre. A show about supernatural beings being as human as possible, with just adorable characters you can't help but love. Very heartwarming as good childcare animes usually are! If you like shows like Barakamon then I'd imagine you'd enjoy this.

27 I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying

I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying

I'd recommend anyone to at least try this series mainly because the episodes are only 3 minutes long, and you  know what you're getting into from the first episode or two. It's about an Otaku that's married to a cute girl and just a cute Slice of Life interaction between the two. There's not much more to say but it's adorable!

28 Interviews with Monster Girls

Interviews with Monster Girls

It's hard to explain what made me like this show, as I'm not really sure myself. I think the characters were cute enough to pull it through, so if you're a fan of one of them you'll probably really enjoy this show.

29 Is the Order a Rabbit?

32 K-On!

33 Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

34 Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san

A cute anime between two young children and the relationship between them as one teases the other (if you couldn't guess), as well as some school related problems. It's a very relaxed show and the characters are adorable!

35 KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!!

KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!!

Probably the best comedy anime I've seen in terms of pure comedy. The characters are perfect and the way they interact is amazing, it never feels like there's a missed beat throughout both seasons. It also has some of the best voice acting I've ever heard, and sounds like they really enjoyed being a part of this. If you had to pick any series from this list to watch, I'd recommend this one!

36 The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura

37 Lucky Star

38 Love Lab

39 Mayo Chiki!

Mayo Chiki!

I feel like for me this whole anime revolved around how sweet the main girl was. I found her just adorable which made this anime really easy to watch. The plot seemed okay and the other characters were pretty fun too. Oh and who doesn't love some crossdressing.

40 Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

One of the best anime to come out of 2017, which is an amazing achievement for a comedy anime! When I first heard the concept and the trailer I thought there was no way I could like this but I fell in love with it after the first episode. The characters are all great and lovable and I felt so emotionally invested with all of them, and I couldn't wait to watch the next episode each week. The family vibe it gave off was so endearing, please go watch this!

41 MM!

Definitely one of the more bizzarre entries on this list. MM! has quite an interesting approach of making literally every character have something wrong with them, ranging from masochist, sadist, androphobia, brocon, lolicon and many others that I don't even know how to describe. It spends each episode to cure the protaganists masochism, with some interesting approaches. If you like anime that's just stupid and non-sensical, then it's honestly a lot of fun, while even being quite cute/charming in its own way!

42 Mob Psycho 100

Mob Psycho 100

43 Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou

Definitely one of the more Ecchi based comedies on this list and not one I can recommend to everyone. However if you're okay with a VERY ecchi series then I'd say you'd enjoy this. The characters are for the most part likable and cute and as long as your parents don't walk in on you watching a half naked snake you'll probably have a lot of fun!

44 Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Another great RomCom anime with a very good sense of Comedy. I'm not too familiar with Shojo anime but apparently it did a good job of parodying the genre's tropes, and I hear it compared often to Ouran High School Host Club. Really cute characters and a heartwarming feel throughout makes it an enjoyable experience for both genders.

45 My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy

My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy

One of my personal favourites, but maybe not the anime for everyone. The premise is interesting as it's essentially a harem anime, but with the main character being forced to make decisions that put him in bad situations - as in physically forced. It's hard to explain without seeing it, but overall I found the characters adorable and the story lots of fun!

46 New Game!

New Game!

If you enjoyed anime within the workplace like Shirobako, you'll probably enjoy this show. The girls are all cute and I'm sure you'll find one you'll like.

47 Nichijou - My Ordinary Life

Nichijou - My Ordinary Life

I'm not a big fan of this series, although I find a lot of people I know loving it, so I wanted to include it on this list. It's hard to describe this series, but if you enjoy episodic and 'random' comedies then you'll probably like this one.

48 Nisekoi

This is honestly a somewhat generic harem based anime, but done really well creating a wide range of lovable characters. It feels like it doesn't try extremely hard to create a romance story that's really deep, which allows it to focus on the more comedic aspects which make it a really fun watch! I really love the beautiful animation that it has to offer as well.

49 Non Non Biyori

Non Non Biyori

If you like Slice of Life and country based anime then you will love this. Easily one of my favourite anime with lovable characters and funny scenes. As an added bonus some of the backgrounds in this are beautiful!

50 One-Punch Man

One-Punch Man

One of the only action comedies on this list, this series does an amazing job of mixing the two genres. I'm not even a fan of action anime,  but I had a great time all the way through this!

Saiki kusuo no psi nan has amazing comedy. Easily at top 3 if not the best

GodOfSake Mar 31, 2018

The list is amazing, thank you! *_*
But I have a question, why Death Parade in this comedy list? :s

Spawnstar Jan 14, 2018

Love Relife. I started the manga afterwards and can't wait for the ova to finish off the series.

Mightyena Jan 20, 2017

Trying my best to slowly add descriptions for the series now but I don't have much time/concentration to do so, so sorry if it takes a while :(

If there's a series in particular you're interested in and want to know more about or my opinions on, then feel free to leave a comment on my profile and I should respond ^^

Your list isn't bad but some explanation or personal opinion would be nice.
