The Max Level Returner
Oct 24, 2020The year is '2019' and everyone logged into (or who played?) a certain videogame suddenly disappeared. Soon after the world realized this, monsters started appearing in reality. 1/10th of the world basically died immediately. This is the setup in this story for the apocalypse. After a while, some of those who disappeared into the game came back to 'the real world' that had been taken over by monsters. When they died in the game, they returned to the irl world with the level they made it to in-game. To be specific: one year in-game time is one month in the 'real world' that's passed.
The player hasn't time traveled or anything, he's just the one who lasted the longest in the game world, did what nobody else managed, and came back with after beating it instead of just dying.
I was really confused for the first couple chapters, but I think I might've been more confused because I was trying to figure out what it meant by 'return' and '22 years' and thought it was one of those revenge/time travel stories that are a dime a dozen nowadays. Nah, it's something different. Pretty interesting, really. Nice, long chapters full of a lot of content and good art.

1# I'm not a fan of power rangers, and not being rude either. But playing games is like living in fanatasy, if in fantasy you can't wear something fantasy like armors, then what's the point? So my POV, the character design isn't really good one, and really power ranger like style. First time to see someone actually using this.
2# Imagine wearing an armor, with helmet on. But it got mask at the front that is bigger then the helmet. Oh sorry, that doesn't look like a warriors helmet, rather a motorcycle helmet with wings.
3#I have played many games, one thing I never liked is; once I got to the Max Level, hunting lower level monsters became boring. So I tried to hunt monsters as strong as me or stronger than me. If I was weak, then I had find some way to strenghten my status. But this manga, thinks rather opposite way. Really??
4# The title, "masked monarch". A mask and a monarch doesn't match. and the name of the manga it self, is plain boring. If the returner were to return with max level status and then level up from 1 again, then may be would've looked nice. But since already max level, then there's no growth. Besides returning with game items, and still takes more than 1 slash to kill one monster. I feel like max level is just a cover up.

Now this is what a review should be like. Clear, objective and to the point. Gives enough detail but doesn't spoil anything. I was getting tired of seeing all those other trash "reviews" on other manhuas / manhwas / mangas that are very bias based on the users genre preference.
