High School DxD

Aug 29, 2012

What? An extremely ecchi-based series that actually has a decent plot line? Unheard of...

High School DxD (I guess Demon x Demon?) is like a cross between the fights of Ikkitousen and the setting Kore wa Zombie Desuka. An extremely perverted, girlfriend-less dude named Issei suddenly gets a girlfriend and then promptly dies soon afterwards. He is then reborn as a Demon and serves under high-class demon Rias Gremory.

The first line in the series after the initial intro are along the lines of "ah.. I wanna squeeze some boobs." You pretty much know exactly what you're getting into at... See full review

Green Green

Aug 29, 2012

It's been a long time since I've watched a good ecchi rom/com. Hell, I don't know if I've ever watched a rom/com that blended a simply staggering amount of fanservice into the mix and had it turn out watchable and entertaining. Green Green isn't a wonderful amazing show, but it does exactly what it sets forth to do: make you laugh and make you go "unf unf". Summary: Take an all-boys school. Mix in an all-girls school. Stir with wild abandon while wearing absolutely nothing. Cook. Tada! Green Green.

There is nothing subtle about the show. It is up front dirty comedy, romance, and when it... See full review

Aria the Scarlet Ammo

Aug 29, 2012

There are times when I am forced to doubt my own taste. Aria the Scarlet Ammo is widely hated (even by its own subbers), and I can see why. The plot is telegraphed, the unoriginality is staggering, and the series seems to revel in its implausibility. And I loved every minute of it.

The opening episode makes an effort to be clever and self-aware, talking about the implausibility of its clichéd beginning (a girl falling from the sky) - but by now this itself is just another cliché. From there the plot advances at a reasonable pace, with a shadowy organization making attacks on our heroes... See full review

Koi Kaze

Aug 21, 2012

Koi Kaze is a pretty adult themed show from the get go...Be prepared to have your feelings of socially acceptable behavior (Morality) battle with your empathy (Understanding or approving the love bond between the brother and sister)

I will say, the short but sweet series moves at a fairly slow, methodical pace, until eventually reaching a climax that may not answer EVERY question, but it will leave you satisfied, if not still a little confused about how you felt about the shows themes in their entirity. Story: (9/10)
The main point of the story, is obviously the unorthadox bond between Koshiro... See full review

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Aug 21, 2012

2 Years Later...

This is, in my opinion, is still the best CG animated film to date.. however, I have decided to amend my review after the intial "buzz" of the movie. I had rated it with all 10s but at the time I don't think I was thinking logically and objectively. Every field except the story and character does deserve a 10/10 in my opinion, however the story and character elements were a bit shallow which drag the movie down, albeit not much in my opinion. If you're a die hard fan of Final Fantasy 7 (and I confess, I am) you will enjoy this movie on a whole other level to people... See full review

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

Aug 19, 2012

Possibly... we humans could exist without fighting, but many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what future is there for those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with bloodstained hands? Is that the truth? Originally created by the pair of ... Air Movie

Aug 16, 2012

Base in the Bishoujo game release in PC, DC and PS2, later on turned into a wonderful anime of 12 episodes, but now unfortunately the movie lacks what the Anime had, but it also gives some moments that the Anime lacked as well, so lets see the different aspects of this Movie.
Story: (8/10)
The story is basically the same, but only focusing in Misuzu story, so the other characters like Kano, Hijiri, Minagi and Michiru are out and they don't have an important role, or you could said that none at some point, which is good in a way since after seeing the anime you thought that Misuzu Story was not... My-Hime

Aug 16, 2012

Story: (6/10)
It starts like any other ecchi-comedy, with schoolgirls and cheesy love dilemmas. It maintains this geeky femininity...and then suddenly digresses into a plethora of human emotions!!! Wow, what a tease. I am impressed and satisfied, despite the rather average score I'm handing Mai-HiME. Tokiha Mai tries to be the best older sister she can be. Her younger brother, Takumi, faces a fatal heart disorder, and all she can do is protect him.

On a boat ride to school, a girl floats on top of the water, and a star that Mai can see, which no other but what a HiME (Highly-advanced... See full review

A very good anime, I enjoied this show from the beginning 'till the end, even if it has a lot of chatting (A LOT!!!).
Story: (9/10)
It has a very interesting plot, sometimes it doesn't evolve at a fast pace, but every episode will add a bit more at the plot, lefting the watcher with some questions (a bit) solved and even more to be answered, but allthis add more to the interest the watcher will put in this show. Perhaps it lacks a bit on the side stories, but maybe it was already difficult to exhaust the main plot.
Animation: (8/10) It is really good, I like the way the characters are... See full review

School Rumble: 2nd Semester

Aug 16, 2012

Hmm... the curse of setting a bar to high to hurdle. Ni Gakki certainly illustrates this point.

To be fair, School Rumble was probably the funniest show I'd ever seen. To add to that, it was done in such an original way, with such a great cast, it was already going to be hard to top.
Story: (4/10)
Where our 1st series maintained a noticable progression of relationships and story material, this is not the case in Ni Gakki. I can count on one hand how many episodes actually progressed the underlying 'plot' of the School Rumble universe.

More than anything, Ni Gakki was a random series... See full review

School Rumble

Aug 16, 2012

...Last night, I finished School Rumble, but found myself getting in trouble over and over today at work because I kept losing my composure and randomly laughing to myself over scenes of the show that kept playing over and over in my head.

To say that this show is hilarious may be a sore understatement. It's a good possibility this is the funniest show I've ever seen. The perfect amount of Drama sprinkled on top of this heavy Romantic/Comedy make the recipe for success.

Much to my surprise, there's even a bit of depth to this Romantic Comedy...

Tenma Tsukamoto is a total dunce...but... See full review

Gunparade March

Aug 15, 2012

First, I just have to say: At this point, I really have no idea what the hell I just saw.

Gunparade March has a tried and true idea, with a different twist on the chronology involved. The 'invasion' takes place in the World War II era, and continues up through our present day. You would think over the span of 50+ years this ruthless race of alien killers would have humanity beaten, or vice-versa.

Ah, who cares right? It's just the fate of humanity, it's already been this long, why don't we go on some dates, have some laughs? How about we put on a play? I wanna be the princess! Give me a... See full review

REC

Aug 15, 2012

The best enjoyment per minute ratio I have ever seen.

First off: yeah, I know such a short series as this hardly justifies the longest review in my reviewing-career, but I think it deserves to be picked apart like this.

Rec is a good show, mostly because it manages to be enjoyable and features characters which are actually likeable. Seeing the episodes are short, one would think the show won't leave any impression at all. The opposite is true though, since this might be the most enjoyable 'short watch' I have seen in my entire anime-career. Story: (9/10) The story is simple, straight and... See full review

Fate/stay night

Aug 15, 2012

I went into Fate/Stay Night with no prior knowledge of the show's backstory, nor the games it was based on. wow, what a ride it's been. The second project based on a game by TYPE-MOON, the team that created Shingetsutan Tsukihime.

Studio Deen is no stranger to killer ap programs. It had its dealings in Drama with Full Moon Wo Sagashite, and Fruits Basket in Fantasy with Kyo Kara Maoh, and Action with Rurouni Kenshin - Seisouhen. Fate/Stay Night is strong on all accounts.

After researching the other stories, Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel, some of the loose ends in Fate/Stay... See full review

Air

Aug 15, 2012

AIR, a PC game released in Japan in the year 2000, following on the success of Kanon. A wonderful bishoujo game, one that was very popular and was voted best PC game in Japan for that year and the year later. Now, Kyoto Animation brings AIR into the anime world. Did it suffer the pitfalls of bishoujo game to anime adaptations? I think not. Key/Visual Arts have learned from their previous mistakes and weaknesses in Kanon anime and have made changes which makes AIR an artistic masterpiece, one that stands for how good a bishoujo game anime can be.

Story: (8/10)
Sadly, the AIR anime tried to cram a... See full review

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Aug 15, 2012

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, is anything but melancholy.

This anomalous show breaks the barrier for what people have come to 'expect' from 'school-life' or even 'comedy' anime. The real trick here, is that Haruhi is a Science-Fiction in disguise. That is not to say that this show isn't laugh-your-ass-off funny, because it definitely is.

The smorgasbord of genre's that appear in this show is just ridiculous, but in a good way. Too often a show becomes overly ambitious and tries to include tones that don't fit, or belong. However, Haruhi is hilarious, abstruse, and very, very witty. If... See full review
