The story of a demonic cultivator who obtains a new body several years after his death. It's BL, but also a breath of fresh air for both the BL and the Xianxia genre. Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi are both consistent and multi-faceted characters and the love story avoids most of the common clichés. The plot doesn't focus on a rise to the top, but reads more like a large detective story, with the truth behind the mystery being revealed bit by bit. My only issue with the story is the resolution: both stories have a nice resolution, but the resolution of the mystery is overshadowed by the resolution of the love story, which is not half as interesting.
