This has got to be one of the most conflicting series I've ever watched.... On one side you have rather dark themes and serious emotional moments that build up to a rather engaging story; and in the other just a bunch of disgusting and overused humor that take you away from immersion with its ridiculous nonsense. It is true that Kotoura-San is presented primarily as a comedy show, yet from the very beginning we are welcomed with some pretty dark and heavy stuff that set up a rather somber tone; it presents us a girl dealing with strong isolation and depression brought in by a strange power she has, which... Boogiepop Phantom was one of the strangest yet most interesting viewing experinces I've had in a while; it is perhaps one of the greatest example of nonlinear narration that I've watched so far.
It was like watching a puzzle unfold, with each little moment being a piece you need to pay total attention to, otherwise you won't be able to solve it. This kind of disjointed narration is very hard to pull off, it can lead to disastrous results if it is not done right; yet in the case of Boogiepop Phantom they managed to make it work by making each episode be unique
and different enough to be its own thing... See full review
Land of the Lustrous is one of the most unique experiences I’ve had the pleasure to watch in recent times; it was a really fun and thought provoking series which touches on some very interesting topics, all while delivering a very entertaining and exciting story unlike anything I’d seen before. I’ll start with the most noticeable aspect which is of course, the animation. The art-style is incredible, it is perhaps the best example of CGI animation I’ve seen in any anime. I will admit I was doubtful at first, the art seemed a bit too different and I wasn’t sure if it was going... See full review
First and foremost, this is not a show for everyone; it deals with some very heavy themes and it can get very dark at times. Despite its title, on its core is a rather gruesome and raw story about abuse and misfortune, which is suitable only for a mature audience, definitely not for kids. That being said, the show itself is amazing; the story was very original and different from most things I've experienced before, it has some very interesting and complex characters each with their own backstory and unique personalities, along with some of the most twisted antagonists I've seen so far which made the... There will be some spoilers so please be warned... Requiem for the Phantom is a great action series which shows us a story of deceit, betrayal and violence from the world of the mafia and crime families; doing so superbly by presenting us a world of compelling and interesting characters and a deep story full of emotion and some rather dark themes which combined, make up for a great viewing experience overall; it has a very dynamic and interesting duo of main characters and some of the most despicable yet effective antagonists I've seen in an action anime so far; it also presents us with a beautifully... First time writing a review on the site, yet I feel like I must write this in the hopes that more people can stumble upon this gem of an anime. I'll begin by saying that calling this a masterpiece is an understatement, this is perhaps one of the best anime to come out in recent years, and one of the best I've ever watched.
Without being too spoilery, the story follows the journey of a human girl with a Golem, a creature from the forest who
wants to help her find other humans; in a world inhabited by monsters where humans have been brought to the edge of extinction.
Despite dealing with some strong... See full review
